No guilt at all

I walked away three months ago because I was tired of working sixty-hour weeks. I left my team in a tough spot, but I honestly don’t feel bad about it. I feel great. They created the mess that I kept fixing over and over again, and eventually I got tired of carrying it all on my back. Part of me would still love to see how things are working out for them now that the mule is gone.

Help us see it coming

I'm trying to prepare myself the best I can. If you've been laid off, what did you notice in the weeks or months before? Did your manager seem distant? Were you left out of meetings? Did your responsibilities shrink without explanation? I'd love to hear any patterns so the rest of us aren't completely blindsided when that meeting invite shows up.

Sacramento District Reduces Staff, Nears State Takeover

Sacramento City Unified School District’s Board of Education voted to finalize 503 layoffs. The action addresses a $127 million financial gap. Many affected workers are classified, such as custodians and food service staff. Even with these cuts, the district faces potential state receivership to avoid insolvency. State officials warn that action is needed soon to prevent 5,000 employees from going unpaid.

June Layoff Date Confirmed

I am not sure of how many will be impacted but June 25th is the date for June layoffs. I hate this for anyone impacted, but brace yourselves and just know if this is not your moment to be affected, give grace to those who were and ready your personal finances.

Well, they cut me after 11 years

And all I can feel is relief. Witnessing the slow, steady decline from the company I joined to what it is today wasn't exactly a pleasant experience for someone who actually liked their job and wanted to be good at it. I wish everyone good luck, and may we all end up in companies where work feels worthwhile.

Quiet layoffs

Why is elt so narrow minded that they want to make the environment so vile, most talented people quit. And all you're left with is geriatric, brainwashed boomers, or offshore low level talent?

If you want to be #1, don't use the excuse "well Exxon is doing it!". To be first you set your culture and company apart, not the same, mo--ns.

How can a Fidelity Alumni help?

Software engineer laid off some years ago from the firm. I know what it’s like to be laid off, and have interest in offering help to people in my field. I would like to volunteer my contact info for anyone impacted. For obvious reasons, I feel uncomfortable putting my contact info on this forum. Is there a way I can reach out to Fidelity HR to let them know I would be willing to be contacted by software engineers recently impacted by the layoff, so they can send my contact to people impacted?

Thank you.

I was laid off, but I'm okay with it

In fact, I wish I’d left sooner. I stayed because Verizon still had this reputation that made it sound like a career making place to work, and everyone around me kept reinforcing it. Looking back, I spent years putting up with bad leadership and a toxic environment because I thought the name alone made it worth it. The hardest part is realizing how much time I burned before accepting the place had changed a long time ago.

F the cowboy

I was laid off yesterday, May 7. I am not Frontier. 25 years with VZ... 3 moves for this company... I'm happy. I feel relieved. Good riddance. They think AI can do my job! It's not there yet. They will struggle will all these losses of good people. I will be fine. I am done... I think i will go Uber. Best day of my life ...

Is the layoff wave actually over?

I am so confused and anxious... Is this layoff wave actually over?
I went through every single thread and what I am seeing is conflicting. People around me including my manager are clueless, rumors and guessing. Here I see that some posters say all impacted employees were already notified and May is done. Others report sameday notifications still happening, “quick catch up” meetings appearing, and leadership is refusing to guarantee no further cuts.... also - multiple posts suggest that phased restructuring will go thru June. Some say September. WTF???

Macy's Tulsa Facility Layoffs Spark WARN Act Probe

A law firm investigates Macy's operations in Tulsa. This concerns a recent layoff of 916 employees. The firm suspects a federal WARN Act violation. This law requires 60 days' notice for mass job cuts. Employees could claim compensation and other entitlements.

The layoff: My two cents

This has left a bad taste in my mouth for Fidelity. I got laid off yesterday, I'm a scrum master in Brokerage, L5. It makes sense to me that I was let go because I was one of the only two scrum masters in my chapter that were L5, nonetheless it was still a kick in the chest to get the news. But, I'm surprised Fidelity announced RTO just last week then this happened. If they were smart they should have announced RTO long before and waited for natural selection to kick in to have people leave on their own terms. But who am I to say?

Good luck to everyone else impacted, I hope you find the good in this as I do as well.

PDS Sh**show

Can anyone explain why employees are still being required to complete their PDS even though they’re already being laid off in 2026? HR is saying it’s mandatory if an employee doesn’t yet have an official termination date. Honestly, what’s the point of going through this process when performance results won’t matter anymore—unless IOL just wants to rank these employees at the bottom to boost the ratings of those who are staying.
