Just had a department meeting, they are offshoring Medicare bus ops. made it sound like enough people took the VSP to offset lay offs but also said they didn’t know and it was above them. They claimed the VSP was a separate initiative from this and the “timing aligned” not sure how it aligned when this news could have made people choose the VSP. Not sure why they would wait to announce this after the VSP deadline. 13% of bus ops took the VSP they confirmed. Stated they were going to move people into new positions within the next few weeks which ironically aligns with the RIF date. Good luck everyone and congrats to those who accepted the VSP and it worked out.

We are hearing Tara has been tasked to further reduce heads and after voluntary the target will be to consolidate duplication especially in teams that have merged eg MEA AND EUROPE. There can be some major changes at lower levels. This could re shape the whole thinking and way forward for this group. Profitable areas getting hit!

The only silver lining in this whole mess is that it's going to be 36 (eight of them tenured) instead of 52 people, as it was originally planned in May. Two departments are being eliminated - University Studies and Conflict Resolution. All to save $15.9 million.

I'm not sure of the exact timing, but I am sure that there will be several more layoffs before the year is over. It's just a matter of when.

No rhyme or reason for the chosen: some long term tenured, some newer, but good at their jobs. That department was being hammered by senior leadership about meeting SLAs. They will regret it later when the staffing is needed later in the year. Why, Lord, oh why?

When can we expect layoffs and what functions will be impacted?

Does anyone have any reliable information on percentage of the layoffs for next week? Is it a set number as usual, ie roughtly 10% or 75% with dan the man.. or is it targeted to eliminate orgs, hit some way harder than others?

Announced yesterday that the Bioanalytical group in PPD Middleton (separate from GMP) will be consolidated in Richmond. Unsure how many people laid off, but only 30ish were retained.
