FSSA Decision Causes 90 Job Cuts at CICOA

CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions announced a mass layoff affecting approximately 90 non-union employees. The Indianapolis-based non-profit cited recent changes by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). FSSA decided not to continue CICOA as a case management provider. This decision resulted in a significant loss of government funding for the organization. The job losses are expected to be permanent, with layoffs finalized by July 31, 2026.

Reluctantly updating my resume

I've been avoiding this for months. I told myself things would get better, that I could wait it out. But after the last round of reorgs happened and the latest gossip about more cuts, I've accepted that I need to leave. I really didn't want to go through the interview process again. It's exhausting and demoralizing. But I feel like I have no choice anymore. I can't stay somewhere that makes me this unhappy.

If you are RIF'd and money tight do this right away!

This isn't a post about rumors or Optum info, it's a post for folks that are hit by RIFs and are tight on funds. Being RIF'd is traumatic for many and in the storm one's focus could be clouded. If your money is tight and you contribute to the 401k you may want to consider immediately dropping your contribution to 0% or 1%, This will ensure your last paycheck is higher by slightly less than the amount you contribute (your tax burden will increase slightly), and even more importantly your severance check will not have whatever percentage deducted from it. Just a friendly tip for the folks get caught in the "axe the onshore web" to increase the take home.

Mandatory participation in Copilot Programs

What's everyone's thoughts on being pushed to participate in Copilot usage programs? Seems like we are being asked to train the AI before the next RIF while being offered "space exploration stickers for our logbooks" for our participation. I am not kidding.

Oldie but goodie question

Actually, a few: (1) What is the time that one is contacted to be told they are being let go – – or fired? (2) Are they still sticking to every other Tuesday or is it any day of the week? (3) with the mid year evaluations coming up, are they holding on the firings and layoffs until after the midyear reviews are presented?

Are the layoffs over??

Many people on my team in cyber are worried they’re next. Some well loved employees have already been let go and no one feels safe right now! One person told me they think leadership will replace her by moving her role to India. Has anyone heard anything?? They’ve made poor decisions already on who they decided to lay off.

Berkley voters overwhelmingly rejected a Proposition 2 1/2 override. The measure failed by a nearly five-to-one margin. This outcome triggers position eliminations across multiple town departments. Layoffs will impact schools, police, fire, highway, and Town Hall. Seven teachers and several other employees are among those affected.

Its just a gig

The era of the lifelong career at Verizon is over. Instead, view your time here as a strategic gig. Leverage the company’s resources to sharpen your skills and build your toolkit, then move on when the time is right. If you don’t plan your own exit, the company eventually will. True career fulfillment lies in knowing when to transition.

RTO attrition

How will RTO be used in place of a layoff? The managers in my group don’t even show up all the time and take a lot of PTO during connect weeks.

I assume nothing will really happen to managers but what will the trickle down impact will this have on their teams? I assume managers are also nagged about their attendance?

Oracle Layoffs Spark Employee Conflict Over Compensation

Oracle laid off approximately 20,000 employees globally earlier this year. Former workers are now disputing the severance terms and forfeited stock grants. Knowing layoffs are coming, I have a million questions

Who makes the list? Is it based on performance, salary, tenure, or luck? Which departments are getting hit hardest? Are newer employees safer or more at risk? What's the real business reason behind this? They won't tell us anything, so we're all just guessing and panicking.
