Not to long ago Mid and higher management would give a lot of notice before leaving the company. It seems like so many people are getting health issues and having to leave suddenly. This weekend a Chief retired with two weeks notice. I have never seen such high levels of stress before. Please everyone look after your health first as your families need you.

I chose freedom over compliance, flexibility over obligation, and peace of mind over RTO. Feeling retired, paycheck intact.
Should You Self-Manage Your 401(k) in the Age of SpaceX Hype?
With headlines buzzing about SpaceX and other high-profile private companies, it is tempting to rethink how we invest for retirement. But should that excitement push you to self-manage your 401(k)?
For most investors, 401(k) plans are built around long-term stability, not chasing hype. Broad index funds remain a reliable foundation because they spread risk and track overall market growth. While standout companies can capture attention, they are often inaccessible or highly speculative, especially in retirement accounts.
Self-managing your 401(k) can offer more control, but it also demands discipline, research, and a clear strategy. The real question is not whether a company like SpaceX is exciting—it is whether shifting away from diversified investing improves your long-term outcomes.
Before making changes, consider whether your motivation is strategy or simply reacting to market buzz.
Who’s next?
How long before Kyle announces his “retirement”? It’s a matter of time.
What part of the M$FT buyout are you wanting? The rule of 70 only makes 7% of their employees eligible.
The one-time retirement program, announced in a memo on Thursday, will be available to U.S. workers at the senior director level and below whose years of employment and age add up to 70 or higher.
Business Insider obtained a full copy of the document, an internal explanation of the so-called Voluntary Retirement Program (VRP). According to the document, eligible employees who take the buyout will receive:
A lump-sum cash payment equal to a minimum of eight weeks and a maximum of 39 weeks of base pay, based on seniority and tenure. Employees levels 64 and below will receive one week of base pay per six months of service, and employees levels 65 to 67 will receive two weeks of base pay per six months of service.
Up to five years of insurance coverage, including medical, dental, and vision for the employee and their dependents. Microsoft pays for the first year.
Continued regular stock vesting for six or 12 months, based on years of service.
Continued retirement stock vesting for employees who meet certain requirements.

AI and jobs in the next five years
90% of us will be replaced by AI by 2031. I'm retiring in 2030, but what about everyone else who is under 50? What's your plan??
Is 55yrs old a must for VRP ?
I am 52 and want to take VRP but not eligible for it. Anyone knows if HR would bridge 3 years and give me the package? It would be hard to stay 3 more years. I will lose more than 50% of my pension if I leave before 55.
Lump Sum
Hi did anybody opt for the lump sum payout? If yes did it really take up to 60 days to process?
My group is essentially a soon to be retirement community
And everything reflects it. The group is not open to new ideas, or new tech or new methods. And we are supposed to be a "cutting edge" IT group. We have projects that started a decade ago that cant move forward because we have not done our "due diligence". We are using tech from 2015.
10 out of 14 people will retire in next 3 years. Hopefully we can get some smarter people in. Although most likely we will be offshored.
IF ya want folks to retire earlier....

Do all years of service count in retirement equation?
If you worked here a few years and the came back, do your previous years of service count toward the retirement calculation (age + years of service)?
Worked there 20 years, laid off with no warning and minimal severance
The first 18 years, working as part of VUE, were great. I was valued, respected, and my contributions meant something. The along comes Omar, and VUE largely gets absorbed into corporate, the Azure migration occurred, and the culture changed dramatically. Dave Treat really likes to listen to himself talk, Omar and the rest of senior leadership are too busy jet-setting to set a clear strategy. The cherry on top came in May when I was unexpectedly laid off after 20 years, with a whopping 8 weeks of severance. Hello early retirement, goodbye toxic workplace.

Retirement postings - much more than usual
This past weekend, I noticed more-than-usual number of retirements posted on LinkedIn and FB. I am aware of a Canadian program driving a June decision for some employees, but that does not explain all of the postings in Houston. Are there other programs in North America with a June 1st trigger?
Good luck and enjoy retirement Vicki..
I wish her the best and appreciate what she did for all us employees during Covid and the tough times we went through. She could have laid off many of us, and most kept their jobs, or took a generous VSP. I say this as an employee and not an investor, and I will always think she is one of the best, if not the best CEO for employees. Thank you again Vicki and enjoy your retirement. From a personal standpoint you made my retirement much easier with the VSP, and I know it could of been different.
RULE of 80/90
SF needs to change the retirement to the rule of 80 or 90 - age plus years of service = full retirement and get those older employees off the books. We have a ton of employees that wfh that lack 5 to 10 years and they will hang on for the retirement. If they changed this they probably wouldn't need the exit package.
Verizon cancelled employee/retiree discounts?
Effective 1/1/2026, the management Concession Telephone Service will be frozen and only retirees currently participating will be allowed to receive concessions. In addition, HealthSmart Benefit Solutions will no longer administer the Concession Telephone Service (CTS) benefit for Verizon.
Your telephone concession payment will be administered through the Verizon Benefits Center (VBC) and any eligible reimbursement will be issued by The Principal Financial Group (Principal). To verify your eligibility, contact the VBC at 1-855-489-2367.
Take PIL+retire or just retire?
I heard that a guy offered the PIL had a lawyer review the terms and there were some clauses in the PIL agreement which gave EM some rights to reduce or cancel his retirement benefits.
Are there any clauses in the PIL agreement which jeopardize your retirement benefits?
The guy I heard about simply turn in his retirement notice and skipped the PIL payments.
What are the terms of the PIL?
Voluntary Retirement Program?
Synopsys should adopt a voluntary retirement program similar to Microsoft. This provides high-cost, senior employees with a graceful transition out of the organization.e company should follow Microsoft and offer voluntary retirement program. This will give senior people who have high cost a grace way to leave.
RR Retiring
Amazing career. Built fds entire analytics business. Quite a legacy.
Been praying to be laid off for the last five rounds
Every time I survived. The only reason I stay is because I refuse to leave severance on the table after spending almost two decades here. The way it's been going, I'll retire before they lay me off, with my luck.

Retirement
I am thankful to be retiring soon after a long tenure with Belk, but I’m very concerned with all the friends that are still with the company. The Belk of 2026 is unrecognizable to me. I hate to see people duped, lied to, mislead, and taken advantage of, and that’s unfortunately what is happening with this company. After many years with Belk, I’ve seen all types of upper executive management, some delightful, intelligent, kind, and inspiring…and some utterly vile, despicable human beings. One thing is for certain, in the end, kindness, decency, honesty, and integrity always prevail. To everyone still at Belk, good luck and god speed…and know that it’s not goodbye…it’s until we meet again….

I am just counting down the days at this point
Trying to find any positivity at work has become more draining than the work itself, so I have stopped trying. Now I just cross off another day on the calendar each evening and remind myself how much closer I am to retirement. The people who make decisions here have made it clear that they do not value the people who have been here the longest, and I am done pretending otherwise.
Waiting for potential severance or retirement
Is there any advantage to informing HR about retirement plans ahead of time? With the possibility of layoffs and severance packages at Bank, I’m unsure whether I should let HR know that I’m planning to retire in July. I would also be eligible for a half-year bonus since I have 10+ years. Could notifying HR about my retirement plans affect my chances of being included in a layoff or receiving severance?
Abby Johnson Retirement
Anything to the rumor that she will leave in the next 3-6 months?
TC should offer early retirement option again
Lots of people want out and it’s leading to complacency. TC you’ll have a much more productive workforce if you offer early retirement again.
Please retire of 60+
The company is shrinking and is younger people need the roles to open up to survive. The pension doesn’t grow that much after 55 and certainly after 60 it really slows down. Do us a favor and help us get to 55.
RIF'd but retirement eligible?
Anyone out there RIF'd in November, but also happened to be retirement eligible? How was that handled?
XOM in 401k long term stock holder 4 NUA
I was wondering if I'm one of the few XOM long career of 33 years stock holders who never traded or sold their stock mainly for NUA reasons. Invested only in XOM, S&P 500, and extended markets index. With the 170 dollar stock price I finally gave in and sold most of my XOM stock. I did the NUA and flipped 1.7 million into a Fidelity concentrated stock limited partnership for diversification purposes. Should give me close to the same returns as the S&P 500 without paying most of the taxes on XOM stock. I just paid taxes on the XOM stock with a very low cost basis, as low as 14 dollars a share.
