I wasn’t eligible for VSP. If RIF’d, what can I expect? There’s nothing in policy any longer surrounding severance. Will I even get a couple weeks work of pay for just under 2y of service? Anyone have historical knowledge?

Negotiate VSP exit date

I'm a director who got approved with an exit date of December 2026. However, I was expecting to leave 9/4/26. We have a State audit in November so I understand why they extended my date. Any director or VP level tried or going to ask for an earlier exit date ? I am actively interviewing for my next role so I would love to accept the new role and get my severance. With all the company layoffs it's going to be harder to find a new role in December.

Severance condition

In the communication, the condition of receiving of your severance is a good standing: What does it actually mean? Let's say your performance is degrading and you get thrown to NI/NSI pile, what more can the company do? Getting rid of you sooner? With extra 3 months of additional severance if they put you on PIL?

Gossip About Some Terminated Hughes Employees being invited back.

Any truth to this?

Is EchoStar really doing a Just Kidding, Come Back tactic to some?

Did they finally realize that what they did pretty much caused disaster recovery to have to happen?

Of invited back, would you come back? If you refuse, would they take away severance?

No enhanced severance or career transition assistance (lies)

Mike Gianoni said. "As we have in the past, we will support impacted team members, we'll provide an enhanced severance program and career transition assistance". Nothing there is true. You get 2.5 days per year instead of the standard 1 week or 2 weeks per year. No career transition assistance at all. You get a 1 time 1-1 help building a resume. Got two months after 20 years.

Best of Luck

I applied for the VSP. I got approved. My separation date is in May 2027. I have been looking for another job since they pulled bonuses, PFP's etc off table the beginning of 2023 even more so after the Sept 2023 Lay Off leak. This whole thing is a sham....a PR stunt for the earnings call July 28th. Some say too many people applied - cool they didn't have to approve them all. It was bad enough giving a separation date of September but 8 months out? A year? The absolute mind f**k of it all is despicable. The only difference between those that didn't apply and those that did is "severance" and being locked into employment unless you quit before your separation date. BUT ALL OF you now will have the constant anxiety of being laid off at any given moment as has been the course since 2023 for most of us. And they did say in the agreement you can be subjected to involuntary layoffs even if you got the VSP.

I, after 3 years of applying out, landed another role and will be out next week. I wish everyone luck but don't let your guard down. None of the way this went makes any sense whatsoever and I believe there is an agenda and it is not good. What this company did to its employees is nothing short of psychological te---r and torture. Oh and KARMA IS A BI--H make no mistake. The company will reap what it sows eventually and I have a hunch it already is.

Can you get out of VSP if you didn't get the date you wanted

Wasn't eligible for VSP but reading about how late of a "separation date" some people are getting is crazy. If you are unhappy with your date can you back out? I can see where some people found this misleading (they thought they would be leaving in September).

Too many of us applied!

My thought is so many of us applied that they couldn't hold up their end of benefits for everyone to depart in Sept. The added dates allow at least one large depart per quarter for a full year! If we quit between now and our separation date - OVER A YEAR FROM NOW (!!!!!!!) they don't have to pay us anything!

Micromanaging us out.

They are definitely going to micromanage people out so they don't have to pay! Getting a lawyer to be on standby. But if the PL can at least have a heart and stand up for us and know we will be out of y'all's hair asap and to please please not set us up to be let go. I have seen it happen too many times.
Noone cares. Trust my noone does.

Any Precedent like this situation? Any legal protection possible?

For this situation where VSP was accepted but the end date is like 6-16 months from now, has this happened in other companies? This all seems like the company’s attempt to CYA themselves with their mistake of offering VSP to everyone. It just seems like Centene doesn’t want to give out too much VSP benefits, and they’re hoping for attrition, that folks (who clearly signed up for VSP) will either leave on their own or get PIP’d or get fired.
Since there’s no job protection during this 9-16 period, what else can we do? I’m curious if anyone has thought about contacting a lawyer to review this situation. I’m not planning to initiate that myself, but if someone wants to form a group to explore that, please sign me up!

VSP Separation Dates A Year From Now

With some many people getting dates a year or more from now (way past the original September 2026 date) it seems pretty obvious they are hoping people just quit. This will save them money in the long run not having to pay out lump sums.

Such a slap in the face and a sh-tshow.

schwab questions

Have an offer with schwab in the technology division and had couple of questions. Does schwab do performance reviews mid-year, end-of-year, or both? Also, if there are layoffs, how does severance usually work? And if someone were let go for low performance, is severance typically involved, or does it depend?

A November 2027 Separation Date Is Insane

there are five extended separation dates according to the updated FAQ:

  • December 2026
  • March 2027
  • May 2027
  • August 2027
  • November 2027

the FAQ details how extended separation dates would impact severance benefits... but being asked to stay until November 2027 is just wild AF to me. my limit is December 2026 and that's pushing it, 'cause I'm over it.

Has anyone who was laid off from Citi and received a redundancy/severance package later rejoined the company?

Has anyone who was laid off from Citi and received a redundancy/severance package later rejoined the company?

I’m trying to understand whether there is a formal waiting period before someone can be rehired, particularly where the exit package included severance pay, payment in lieu of notice, or other redundancy compensation.

Does the restriction vary depending on whether the person returns as a permanent employee, contractor, or consultant? Also, is the waiting period counted from the last working day, the official termination date, or the end of the PILON period?

Any recent experience from the UK or EMEA would be helpful.

UPS and Teamsters Settle Driver Buyout Dispute

A new agreement has been reached between UPS and the Teamsters union regarding driver severance packages. This settlement resolves a conflict over a controversial voluntary buyout program. The deal limits the "Driver Choice Program" to 7,500 drivers nationwide, offering them $150,000 for early retirement. Buyouts will now be awarded based on seniority, prioritizing long-term employees. Union leaders stated the agreement protects workers and contract rights, while UPS affirmed it supports employees during operational changes.
