Voluntary Resignation
Now that Uniondale is gone and we're all forced to commute to NYC, who here has been through a voluntary resignation? I'm curious what the process will be. Bc, I'm not voluntarily resigning. You're moving my office. You're forcing me out due to my own personal reasons why I cannot commute to NYC.
California Academy of Sciences Workers Demand Audit
California Academy of Sciences employees rallied at San Francisco City Hall. They called for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to audit the Academy’s finances. This follows several rounds of layoffs over the last six years. The most recent layoffs in April affected at least 38 union members. Former Executive Director Scott Sampson stated these actions were necessary to reduce expenses and eliminate deficits. Union president Teddy Vollman noted their proposal for executive pay cuts was refused.

Career advancement
Is there opportunity for career advancement anymore once the merger goes through? My mates at BNSF say they don't see opportunities like they used to. The merger would mean more management to cull through already.
Western Illinois University Ordered to Rescind Layoffs
An arbitrator ruled against Western Illinois University administration. The university violated a collective bargaining agreement by laying off eleven professionals. Nine faculty librarians and two other bargaining unit members were affected. The ruling orders the university to rescind these layoffs and provide back pay. Unionizing due to ai is not extreme
Yes, it includes St Paul based jobs. Authorization cards have started.
How can we get the news to show what BNY had transformed into
This situation is deeply disheartening. I have not encountered a single employee here who is genuinely happy with their working conditions. What is even more concerning is the complete lack of external coverage or awareness regarding what the staff is going through.
While no job is perfect, it is demoralizing to realize that we are all unhappy, yet nothing changes. Instead, we just face increased pressure that makes us feel entirely disposable. I truly hope this workplace can organize and unionize in the future so that employees have better protections and receive a fair severance package if they are let go.
Portland Teachers Union Challenges Layoffs
The Portland teachers' union filed a class action grievance. This action targets Portland Public Schools regarding planned layoffs. The union reports 82 teachers received layoff notices. Llc’s and why they create so many
Common (and Sometimes Nefarious) Practices with LLC/Entity Changes
Changing an LLC—through formation of a new entity, asset sales, mergers, conversions, or “successor” setups—can create separation from prior liabilities. Legitimate uses include limiting personal exposure (via proper formalities like separate finances and operating agreements). However, abusive tactics include:
• Forming a “new” LLC or shell entity and transferring assets: The old entity is left with debts/liabilities (sometimes leading to bankruptcy or dissolution), while the new one continues operations with a “clean slate.” This can attempt to evade contracts, judgments, or union obligations. Courts may “pierce the veil” if there’s commingling of assets, undercapitalization, fraud, or treating entities as alter egos.
• Asset sales vs. stock sales: In asset purchases, the buyer may argue they’re not a “successor” bound by the old entity’s union contracts or liabilities (unlike stock purchases, where the entity identity often continues). Nefarious versions involve structuring deals to minimize continuity while keeping operations, workforce, and customers largely the same.
• Using shells or related entities: Creating multiple layers (e.g., holding companies) to obscure ownership, fragment operations, or shift liabilities. This is sometimes used in union contexts to claim no bargaining obligation.
• Rebranding/restructuring to reset terms: Announcing a “new company” to pressure renegotiation of wages, benefits, or seniority.
New Brunswick School Districts Cut Library Staff
Library workers in New Brunswick school districts are again facing layoffs. This follows a year-long dispute between the provincial government and their union. A previous labour board ruling had temporarily reinstated positions. However, a new collective agreement now allows the government to proceed with job cuts. Union representatives state they will continue to advocate for these essential roles.

Investigate unions
How do we go about having our own unions investigated for not doing their jobs? Clearly, the production hike is correlating with injuries and incidences. It appears they want transportation to do inspections and just Carmen to the shop and justification of a percentage production number.
Kellogg to close the Omaha Plant
Kellogg Omaha plant is closing very soon...
They are laying off everyone and are selling the property.
People have less money to spend and branded products tend to be hit more than others. People there were well paid and had good benefits (Unionized) so it's a fairly big for the community.
WK Kellogg Co. is moving ahead with the permanent closure of its Omaha, Nebraska, cereal facility, with hundreds of employees expected to lose their jobs in phases this summer.

Accelera Belgium not respecting social agreement
Per the legally binding agreement between Cummins, the unions and the government, people laid off end March would receive severance payments of 3 or 6 months depending on age and/or seniority. At this point, Cummins failed to pay and hr replies with very vague messages to people enquiring.
The unspoken plan to let the entity go bankrupt without honoring the social plan seems to become reality.
But remember.... 'they care about you'!
Union Eisp rumors anyone hear anything substantive
Lots of rumors for months .Anyone hear about anything for associates to leave .We heard so many different things form nothing to a triple Eisp offered to everyone that wants it .Anyone who has real info on the inside
NCFO General Chairman Useless
Doesn’t seem like the leadership is doing a very good job or even cares about their members. Hearing a local chairman, got taken out by management at the same location of the previous local chairman was taken out at. Seems like targeting… Not to mention, it was next to nothing as far as involvement with the last contract between members and union officials.
Aren’t they supposed to represent the members or is being in bed with management too comfy?

San Antonio be prepared…
A lot of rumblings here at the corporate office in Dallas of some mass layoffs hitting San Antonio. Hearing that there is a huge move to a new building out there and AT&T is way over budget. I have no clue what positions are even in San Antonio so be prepared to follow the work if you’re a unionized employee or have your resume updated if you take the surplus package. If it’s for managers which unfortunately get little to no benefits then I would create a Texas Workforce Commission account right now to get ahead of the unemployment benefits that Texas at least has to offer. Mass layoffs are coming June 16th and San Antonio isn’t the only one I’m hearing about but is the one that’s getting talked about the most. Good luck my fellow comrades and fight on!
UnityPoint Fought Union With Millions

Why Is Tech Still Afraid of Unions?
Why aren’t tech workers in countries with weak labor protections organizing unions? The Samsung chip employees’ strike and subsequent payout amid record profits shows it works. TSMC workers may be next. So what’s actually stopping unionization in tech? At places like NetApp, it feels like a race to the bottom.

2 years termination pay
According to all the wise writers here, who say the company will never pay out the up to two years termination pay to union workers, I don't ever have to worry about being laid off like non-union employees have to worry about every day. This is just another reason it's better to be union than not. BTW if I am laid off, I get 2 years pay while my manager only gets up to 6 months pay.

Rules for thee, not for me!
Rules for thee, not for me….. seems to be the mindset around this place. But I guess when trying to get the union to decert, everything is fair game on the company side. Had a tech get fired for not telling the truth, because it violated the company’s core values. But yet local managers that were the driving force behind the decert effort, have gotten away with bashing peoples religious beliefs, calling out employees family values because they supported the union, and even threatened physical violence towards employees. And yet HR complaints have disappeared, HR gets involved and then looks the other way or just don’t care. Get one tech not tell the 100% truth and Hr on top of it within a day or two and fired within a week. Manager does all this, and months of crickets from HR. BC is such an outstanding example of rules for thee, not for me. But then again, that’s what JS preaches to his managers. And they wonder why people hate this place
