Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Were there any warning signs before you got laid off?

I know all of us at Fiserv live under this persistent threat of a layoff looming over us, but I was wondering if there was anything in your immediate range where you thought you were going to get laid off and eventually did. What were the signs? Not enough work to do? Offshoring work? Lot of deconverted clients to sustain the business unit? Financial losses specific to the business unit? Etc. Or were any of you genuinely surprised you were targeted for the layoff.

Personally speaking I would not be surprised because there are many warning signs in close proximity to me but not just simply that Fiserv isn't doing well as a whole. Too much disruption and offshoring is what I've been seeing operationally.

I got an invite for a 1:1 meeting for 15 min from a director I've never spoken to before. There was no context added to the meeting. It doesn't take a genius to know that's not good.

@av especially if that lone 1:1 is only 15 minutes long. Or the dreaded "Hey, have a few minutes to meet?" message.

There were signs that I didn’t realize until after it happened. My manager started to avoid me (dodging my 1:1’s, not answering my questions, being awkward around me in general) and then told our team we have to WFH on the day it happened since multiple people were let go and i guess they didn’t want to cause a scene. the random touchpoint meeting my manager put on my calendar was when i realized i was being let go

If your boss clears their calendar of all of the recurring 1:1s you usually have with them, and replaces them with just one randomly scheduled 1:1, that's a sign.

Other indicators: you aren't invited to as many meetings as usual, you get vague answers and put off when you inquire about future projects/responsibilities, they ask you to train some rando newcomer to the scene on how to do your job, iced out of convos., decline in volume or outright stoppage of others (especially your boss) initiating contact with or input from you, delayed or unhelpful responses to your emails/pings, being put on a PIP.

No signs no warning. He used my 1 on 1 and then had me get on camera to be humiliated by hr who joined the meeting suddenly.

They stopped investing in our product. Normally we would have a big addition to the product that we were working on, but it was like a year without anything. My coworker pointed it out, I was too busy with the smaller projects to notice.

My layoff was special because they targeted everyone who worked on the product.

Before that all layoffs were like throwing darts, random people selected. Most of them were better than others who stayed. Never made any sense.

No they do things like this under the radar… because they like to scam investors and hide the truth.

Hr was axed as well, rif is not performance related, cost optimization

No signs- just a meeting planner from my boss about an hour before the meeting with hidden attendees. Otherwise I was extremely busy with many projects in flight.
