Where did my company go :( ?

The Chevron that I’ve known and loved for 25 years it’s just not the same. Our share of cost for benefits has increased so much, the changes in our disability plans and mental health has been astounding. Did you know that if someone dies in your group now, they send you a phone number? They don’t send Chevron people to help. How does this even make sense? We’ve made so much money this year and we are whittling away. What made Chevron special.

RTO and commuting is destroying my sanity

I enjoy the work and have no problem doing it 40+ hours /week. What is quickly driving me insane is spending hours in traffic every day to do the same job I know I can do the same, if not better, without the drive when all of your work is on a computer. Gas is too expensive and Dearborn/metro Detroit su-ks to commute in. On top of that, shame on Ford for making all of their employees come in 4 days for over a year now without proper seating and planning.

This job is destroying my health

The workload, uncertainty, and constant pressure pushed my stress far beyond what I could manage. I ended up on short term disability after experiencing blood pressure over 180, chest pain, and other physical symptoms. Please, be kind to yourselves and don't allow the same thing to happen to you. Pace yourselves. You don't need to work 60+ hour weeks, no matter what your manager says. You don't need to lose your weekends and holidays to work. They just want us to think that.

I can't keep bringing this home

Work has started affecting how I feel about everything outside the office. I need something to change before the stress follows me into every part of my life. Work should be about providing for me and my family, not about turning me into somebody they might want to walk away from.

Inclusion

I've been working at Intel for over a year, and I've increasingly felt excluded by my teammates. I am also the most new hire in my team. I'm often left out of projects and team discussions, and whenever I offer to help, I'm met with hostility or behavior that makes me feel isolated. They ridiculed me even in front of team meeetings by demeaning my work, keeping me out of loop and excluding me from team chats. Things have gotten worse since two colleagues returned from leave and started working closely together. I feel like they've created an environment where I'm deliberately excluded from opportunities and collaboration.
It's becoming emotionally exhausting to deal with this kind of workplace politics. Has anyone else experienced something similar? How did you handle it? I started to look for other opportunities but I need to sustain here till I get another one… please help I am so mentally exhausted…

What Does It Say About the Workplace When On-Campus Psychiatric Care Becomes Necessary?

The new Plano campus will have an on-site mental health and wellness center. What does that say about the “culture” of this company?

Mental health and employee well-being are absolutely important. However, the company continues to highlight this mental health benefits and this new center as a “look what we did” response to the health and well-being survey results. It raises a legitimate question: how much of the mental health and well-being issues employees are experiencing are actually a result of working for T in the first place?

Addressing the symptoms is important, but shouldn’t we also be asking what is contributing to the problem?

We're going to get a layoffs PTSD soon

How many layoffs have we survived just in the last three years? I lost count. I'm not even joking. Every single round takes a major toll on our mental and in some cases physical health. So much stressing, so much anxiety is not good for any of us, and we have to go through it basically all the time. It's inhumane.

AI Danger - Psychology

Hi Everyone,

I've noticed at least two people on here over the past year or so post their entire conversations with ChatGPT - I stumbled across this page and think it could be very helpful to those couple of folks who seem to have lost grip:

How they keep you doubting yourself

I've seen managers slowly chip away at someone's confidence until that person starts believing they can't do better anywhere else. They make the job feel like some privilege you should be grateful for, even when the conditions are terrible. Eventually you're so exhausted and beaten down that you stop looking for something better. That's what makes this kind of management so nasty.

It's more than losing a paycheck

When I got laid off, people acted like I should shake it off and start applying the next morning. They didn't seem to understand that you're not just losing a paycheck, you're losing your routine, your plans, and sometimes a big part of your identity. I was angry, sad, and completely thrown off for a while. I'm still not fully recovered, and I'm lucky to have been able to find a new job rather quickly.

All this to say, if you're laid off, give yourself some room to be upset about what happened. That's not something you need to apologize for.

How can I find a new job after TD?

I was coldly let go a few months ago. I took some time to deal with the consequences of what they did to me, but now, I'm ready to go back to work. Could mentionning TD on my resume be a deal-breaker preventing potential employers to hire me? I've stayed for 5 damn years in this sh*tty company 🤡, so it isn't something I just can hide 😞! 5 years with my mental health declining, not enough sleep, nightmares, etc. So for those of you, who like me, aren't there anymore, how did you do it? How did you convince an employer to hire you after TD? Sending hugs and take care ❤️

Try this is you need some relief

So for the past month, I have started wearing "blue" glasses - I can see but you can't see my eyes.

It allows me to go into the office and never have to look at anyone while appearing that I am and when I am on camera I can do the same - why you say - your eyes are the mirror to your soul and I don't want to give away an ounce of what I am thinking.

When asked about it I use various reasons, my eyes were just dilated, the screen glare is really a problem, lights keep flashing in the office, etc. Rinse and repeat. I nod, slightly smile when appropriate. Put my headphones on nod my head. Say out loud "sounds good, I agree, good point...when I am NOT HOOKED UP TO ANY CALL - it just looks that way.
When on camera I do the same thing and if asked about the glasses I pretend this was the first time I had to use them. If challenged I say oh that was probably my reading glasses or sunglasses. Sound childish maybe - but I keep my sanity - quiet quitting

I've worked in stressful places before, but Nike is something else

Constant criticism, impossible expectations, managers who seem to enjoy making people feel small, and the list goes on. It isn't just unpleasant, it's psychologically damaging. I'm now questioning my own competence, my value, and my sanity. This place is something else.

FMLA

Good morning, so I was just curious I’ve been with Centene for 4.5 years, this is probably the worst I’ve seen it… mentally and physically I’m drained! When say drained it’s not a joke, can we get FMLA for something like this? I’m in New York if that helps….

Chilling Presentation on Wellbeing

The person they brought in for this wellbeing presentation, is one of the most chilling presenter I have encountered and not in a good way.

There was no emotion, blank stare, no genuine feeling about anything. Everything seemed practiced and rehearsed. I know sociopathic tendencies are rampant the higher you go up the ladder but this one kind of scared me. It’s like I would not ever want to work with that person and can’t take any advice seriously. Maybe it’s just me and so overworked that I have no idea how this will help.

Ireland??

If anyone is impacted today from Ireland can you say what dept you are in just so we can have an idea

So many rumors that today is the day for Ireland with numbers ranging 170 to 450

I'd say the 170 number seems more realistic

If nothing happens today I'm going to put it out of my mind and just continue on with my day to day at work

Living with this constant dread and threat hanging over us is absolutely draining and it's ruining my mental health

Crisis

This is a crisis and an absolute mess. I don't blame hospitals and doctors for trying to overbill because look at all these elite big wigs million dollar salaries. This right there seems like fraud. While people are being denied healthcare and mentally struggling these people are getting filthy rich off of everyone. What's going to happen when more claims get sloppily handled. We are merely their slaves. Noone cares period!

Does anyone know the truth behind the reason what happened to that executive in NY? Just curious.

Honeyhell ruined my life

Since I left a few months ago, I'm a new man. I didn't even realize how bad that place had become for my health. If you're finding yourself adding more and more medication on your list, try finding something else. You'll be shocked how your health will improve once you're out of there.

Drained but need to move on

The last month or two my motivation has been on the floor — and I can see the same in every single department here in Ireland.

The uncertainty is harder to deal with than the news itself would be. Just tell us.

I'm hoping PayPal will have the decency to inform staff this month and not keep this soap opera going any longer. If we have no update by the end of the month, I'm going to make the conscious decision to just get on with things — otherwise my mental health will be on the floor.

Someone has way too much time on their hands - obviously has issues given the subject of this thread. The OP is tagged with #MentalHealth, and someone is so obsessed with it they felt it necessary to manipulate the up/down arrows. Let it go dude.

Dystopian compliance course

We were assigned an "active assailant preparedness" compliance course and it feels so dystopian. A bad AI is telling me to "prepare to survive". It implied some people are emotionally unstable and might get violent if you discuss current events.

It's hard to listen to and not feel horrified/angry.

Stop letting United healthcare control you!

Stop sitting around and letting a company steal your peace.

Update your résumé. Network. Start looking. Don’t wait for a company to value you when their actions show they don’t.

I recently resigned from UHC after nearly 30 years. After decades of dedication, there was no “thank you” or “job well done”—just “go ahead and sign out; we’ll pay you for your two weeks.”

I found a fully remote job making more money than I was after nearly 30 years. That taught me something: your job is not your life, and your employer does not own your peace.

If you’re miserable, stressed, or sacrificing your health for a company that doesn’t appreciate you, start making your exit plan.

Stop being their puppet on a string. Take control of your life back. Your peace, health, and happiness are worth more

strat confusion

gotta love clinically clueless strat team 4 centerwell cutting social work and mental health then asking to hire lcsws again. pitiful for patients. also these are peoples lives and jobs while you make 3x what an actual clinical leader earns. karma will tell.

It's sad but true - numerous people have committed su----es over the layoffs and the non stop lies over the last few years.

I will start by saying I dont advocate, like, support, or agree with su----e.

But I also want to say that in my 19 years at T-Mobile since covid, I have worked through management lying to us non stop. I've seen multiple people talked into staying at T-Mobile, told their positions were safe only to get laid off and immediately go home and end their lives.

It's not a pretty thing, but decisions like the ones t-mobile has made, have caused a lot of people to end it. I hope leaders understand that.

Continued Revenue Decline Forecasted

How depressing it must be to work for a company in a hot growth market who can’t grow revenue. Get out before they RIF you. It’s like being in a bad marriage. I understand why you would stay if you have minimal savings or just like living in San Diego. But for your own mental health just walk out right now. You can thank me later.

Choate Facility Faces Staff Reductions

Employees, union leaders, and local officials gathered to protest planned layoffs and service cuts at the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center. The state intends to eliminate approximately 250 jobs, a program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and reduce mental health beds. These changes are part of a multi-year plan that has drawn significant opposition from those concerned about the impact on services and employment. Protesters emphasized the critical need for mental health services in the region, arguing against the state's rationale for the downsizing. The rally highlighted the deep community concern over the future of the facility and its role in providing essential care.
