"Affected Associates" How is your job search going?

I was given the devastating news March 26. I already have an interview April 13 (Monday). No guarantees of course, but it gives some hope. I have probably applied to 10 positions so far. 2 rejections. And there was a contractor who sent me an email that seemed interested. But the role was in DC and paid significantly less with no benefits so I passed on that - not that desperate YET.

I never thought I would be playing this game again. I hope everyone who has gone down this cr-p road is making progress. I told the recruiter I secured this interview with that if they see T Rowe people applying that they are the best (workers not managers). Good luck all.

I think I wasted my time and energy hating my former manager and director...

So after I was laid off last year, I grew a deep seated hatred for my director and manager for my departure. My resentment knew no bounds. I cursed them everyday for sticking me in this godforsaken job market. I imagined them laughing at me and my misery.

After finding nothing for almost 6 months and wishing I was dead and gone, my hatred for my prior leadership still driving me strong, I've come to learn that they were recently dismissed at the beginning of the year and recently today.

I now feel an emptiness I can't describe. All this time hating and letting it drive my passion to surpass them and land a better opportunity, and I now feel like I don't know like I wasted my time wishing them despair. I hate them for putting me in this situation, but now they're in the same boat as me. It feels weird learning that they're gone too from T-Mobile and I don't know anymore.

Wondering how individuals were picked for the RIF list

Has any else heard those skip-managers saying that they pretended that they aren't aware of names before the RIF event. How can someone in HR completely segmented from the department in a large company make decisions about the individuals in their reporting structure without consulting that skip-manager for a list. They already have been made the list individuals that they can let go and still function in the months before these RIF events. In today's world, no decision is made on the roll of a dice or in a vacuum.

Why cannot managers or directors own up the their decisions and state you're too expensive to move forward and we have to let you go instead of making up this silly story about "they didn't make this list"???? Letting experienced employees go that have attempted to build a career with the company for loyalty ( or good team ) reasons instead of job hoping to build your salary requirements is a sad culture to be in for sure!

They still have a well paying job, getting a raise and RSUs moving forward for trimming the fat so own it.

Am I the only one that thinks this way?

What's age got to do with it

Ok i know this question is unanswerable because there are too many unknowns but here goes. I am early 60s. 30 years with Citi. Mostly 2/3 occasional 1/2. LEA a few years back. I'd like to quit this afternoon but financially I would be better off to stay a couple more years. If I stay they pay me for 3 years and I work. If I get RFI'd they pay me for a year. Does that make any difference?
