I find it very interesting that they are “cutting costs” but just executed a massive contract with an AI company.
So much for transparency 😒

What will happen to the contract in OK? This seems like a contract violation if key roles are leaving due to the VSP.
Honest question just thinking out loud and venting! I know it’s d-mb and prob a big oh waste of time thinking this but since we the ones who took the VSP thinking our separation date would be Sept 2026 and now some of us are not getting that date is this or can it be classified as a breech? Just wondering since now we cannot even change our minds and withdraw our VSP after the fact of our separation date now being into 2027! I wish now at this point we could withdraw our VSP!
Whose idea was the Accenture contract? An absolute mess and sh-tshow that will only get worse

A Maryland union president has strongly criticized the University System of Maryland for allegedly withholding promised wage increases and proceeding with layoffs. The union claims the system broke its contract by not providing negotiated raises to its members. This action has led to the filing of an unfair labor practice complaint and a lawsuit against the university system. Union leaders expressed concern for employees who perform essential work and are now facing job or income loss. The University System of Maryland declined to comment on the matter, citing pending litigation.

The video game industry continues to see significant layoffs, with contract workers now facing even greater instability. Many contractors work for low wages with few benefits, often serving as a crucial part of development teams. Companies are increasingly cutting contract labor to manage budgets, leading to a flooded job market. This trend is exacerbated by the adoption of machine translation and concerns about AI replacing human roles. The precarious nature of contract work is leaving many talented individuals questioning their future in the industry.

At the meeting I was told my contract wont be extended and each of new-hires got the same message. So yeah, the Dell aka circus itself. Hire bunch of ppl in last half a year without actual strategy and now they are going to shut the place
Is anyone actually required to pay back severance if they get hired at a new company? That’s how the contract reads as to me
I just read Jones’ backstabbing lp proposal for B shares has been approved. Anyone owning A shares will be stomped on and buried. I believe they want all of you to transfer to B so Jones won’t be locked in to the guaranteed 7.5% and whatever profits that may be included when they sell the firm. Switch over to B shares and see income dwindle over a few years. Did you hear new LPs won’t have to pay for there buy-in. I have. Please confirm.
Didn’t all VSPs have to sign a contract not to sue Edward Jones once they left with their A shares. Too bad they thought they could depend on lp income around 20%. Kiss it goodbye! PP is p-o-p-o!
When are the first contractual payments due?
Dan Schulman’s employment contract as CEO of Verizon runs for 27 months, extending through December 31, 2027. He officially took the helm in October 2025 to lead a consumer-driven reinvention and strategic overhaul of the telecom company.
Why BofA is hiring contractors in such huge numbers? Is it just usual business or something big is going to happen.

Anyone know if the Tech Mahindra contract for infrastructure is getting renewed or how long is the contract for?
Union representatives at WK Kellogg's Memphis plant allege the company is violating their collective bargaining agreement. The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM) claims WK Kellogg is disregarding seniority rules for job placements during workforce reductions. Union leaders state their proposals to preserve jobs and honor seniority have been met with resistance. They believe the company is prioritizing profit over its dedicated workforce. The union plans to monitor the situation and pursue legal action if necessary.

Our area executive has informed several managers that they can encourage employees to cut their hours to avoid layoffs, transitioning from full-time to part-time contracts. SAP HR has engaged McKinsey & Company to determine which employees will be let go, focusing primarily on full-time positions. By reducing hours, employees can sidestep impending layoffs, but the situation is more complex.
Area executives are pushing this strategy not just to save jobs but to illustrate that full-time employees are less favorable compared to part-time workers in the context of AI, which is expected to enhance productivity. While the desire to avoid layoffs is strong, there is a moral dilemma in participating in a scheme that seems designed to benefit only McKinsey and the executives, who stand to gain financially from the layoffs.
Previous layoffs at SAP cost the company €2.5 billion, with minimal savings as funds were redirected to executive bonuses, share buybacks, and AI expenses.
In Germany, refusing to accept reduced hours could jeopardize welfare benefits, complicating the decision further. The question remains: how will you respond if your manager suggests reducing your hours?
Does anyone know if there is an area in the internal contractor system for feedback/comments and also how long after a contractor leaves can a Manager add something to it, or does it close indefinitely within a day or so once a contractor leaves?
BUCKLE UP -
There is no legal limit on how many times a company can alter a Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) offer before you sign it. An employer can revise, amend, or even cancel the offer entirely anytime prior to your acceptance. However, after you and the company have both signed the agreement, it becomes a binding contract. Neither party can legally change the terms post-signature unless the contract specifically includes a modification clause allowing for it, or both parties mutually agree in writing to an amendment.
AFSCME members rallied against layoffs at Maryland public universities. They protested outside the University System of Maryland Board of Regents meeting in Baltimore. The University of Maryland-College Park announced 73 layoffs. Bowie State University also issued 21 layoff notices. AFSCME members demand the university system honor their contract for wage increases.

Explain it to me like I’m five… how can Centene eliminate a bunch of Medicaid staff if the individual state contract requires certain positions to be in place?
I used to secretly come to this website to get the tea on the company. Who knew I'd be the one giving it this time
Recent graduates, do NOT become a contractor for this place UNLESS you know for sure that you're getting a full time position within 5 months-1 year. I was a recent college graduate when I got the offer to work here but as a contractor. I was told that through hard work and due time, if they liked me, that I'd get a full time position.... that was 3 years, multiple layoffs, 1 managerial and 1 CEO change later when now, they've cut my contract after getting a $4 raise this year as well as new hires to help our team become more efficient. I must've joined at a sc--wed up time, how unlucky am i. I worked 35-40 hr weeks, was a positive employee and got along with all my co-workers, cafe staff, and people outside of my department. I was good at my job and even had plans to excel and show my skills to open up more opportunities and possibilities, you know the thing that my higher up wanted from me at the time. During my time there, I've dealt with so many unnecessary and unhelpful barriers being placed, low morale, empty promises, fatigue on every level, career doubts, being overlooked while being the most overworked, crying tears at my desk because I was in fear of the one thing that ended up happening to me- losing a job I genuinely loved being at. All those things happened at 24-25. Mind you, it was year 3 and people were still confused as to why I'm a contractor, why I don't have access to an employee portal, why I don't get fossil discounts, why I don't get fossil emails, why I don't get opportunities because of my contract....isn't that saying something???
After this, I'll make peace with It and move on through life. This is a stepping stone and I should treat it as such. I'm CERTAIN that other people may leave too, willingly or not depending on the AI progression. Oh and one more thing, don't scurry off out the building after giving some devastating news WITHOUT WARNING AND OUT OF NOWHERE. have some dignity and finish out the rest of the day like I did.
Monday June 15th shall be surplus announcement for Leg T CWA workers thus VTP will happen with most celebrating joyously as we collect our up to 104 weeks pay per contract laughing our fckng @$$es off! It especially will be fun to forever laugh at the nay-sayers.

I was just offered an unexpected contract position and have to take a dr-g test. I’m freaking out because I ate some THC gummies over the weekend. Does anyone know if THC is included in the test and how HR handles the results???
And we wonder why the state of California's next-generation 911 system is a mess and wasted $500 million. This is the company they contracted, which is amazing that anyone would give them a contract of this size.
So many great contractors here at Intuit - curious what will happen or how CW have been impacted during prior layoffs. I think it's safe to assume many will not get their contracts renewed.
I verbally heard in a bunch of meetings where Q3 2027 is when contract renewals are going to happen with US and Canadian staffing agencies and given how the CEO and the executives have been rooting for "APAC" (India) and AI. There is a huge chance that they are not going to renew their US and Canada contracts.
With the union contract expiring on Aug 1, why haven’t we been assigned EWA jobs yet? In the past they always assigned them many months before the potential strike.
We also haven’t seen any bargaining update emails recently. What is the status?
Columbia College recently eliminated three staff positions. Its staff union claims the college violated its contract. The union states it received no advance notice of these layoffs. These reductions occur amid ongoing financial strain and declining enrollment. The college is now discussing the situation with the union.
