If you want to see bad management, look at how layoffs are being handled. One day would have been enough, but they've dragged it out for the whole week, which to some of us feels like forever. For days we wake up stressed wondering if today is the day. Why's that necessary? Outside of just being cruel for the sake of being cruel.

Did anybody else watch AP's President, Erik Lindhjem's message? It sounded like layoffs are coming from the way he delivered his news. It sounded like AP business isn't doing so well.

I keep hearing about layoffs but nobody will say when. Does anyone know when they'll actually start?

But think about it for a moment. Are you really happy at Optum? Has this been a good place to work anytime recently? And be honest with yourself. Being laid off might be the best thing that could happen. It's an opportunity to get out. A clean break from a bad situation.

I am trying to do my best to finish the month of June strong productivity wise. Will leadership look at our first half of the year performance in determining who they keep in the involuntary layoffs? Any insight would be helpful. Thank you.

Campbell's is closing its snack plant. The facility is located in Jeffersonville. This closure will result in layoffs. More than 100 employees are expected to be affected. These job losses are part of the plant's shutdown.

I apologize if this is a stupid question. I'm new and trying to figure out how layoffs work here. I've read that emails are supposed to start going out this morning, and I'd like to know is the email an invite for a meeting with your boss or is the email itself a notification that you're being laid off with no meeting?

7% layoff of global workforce has been announced

One reason I can think of is that FIS has been an undervalued stock, with its share price near a 15-year low. Investors haven’t been happy, and management is under pressure to show improvement. My assumption is that these actions will slow down once the stock starts performing better.
As for why they’re doing gradual cuts instead of one massive reduction, it could be to make the numbers look more like organic improvement rather than a drastic restructuring.
Having spent more than 10 years with the company, I feel that compared to some of our competitors, FIS hasn’t been performing as strongly. The easiest way to quickly improve financial metrics is to reduce operating expenses. However, I don’t fully agree with that approach.

Anyone hearing about new cuts at eBay this week? How many affected, which teams/locations?

Does anyone have any information on upcoming layoffs for ECRL (Enterprise Complaints, Remediation, and Loudspeaker)? The workload has decreased quite a bit. Just wondering if they are planning any big layoffs before the end of the summer or the end of the year.

Please use this thread to post any info you can about actual layoffs when they start on Thursday June 25. Any info about division, department, job role type, etc. is helpful.

Also I would recommend updating your LinkedIn to #OpenToWork so recruiters can see you are looking for a new role. I know from experience that they do use this feature and external recruiters will be looking at profiles for people impacted to see who is available. The job market is not great but hopefully better than it was at the start of the year.

We had another RIF today in California. At least 2 people were laid off. Wondering if there’s more still to come…

Multiple layoffs expected. Last-minute invite to a "meeting" which is actually just a pre-recorded video letting you know your "role is being eliminated" AKA we're firing you and we didn't even have the decency to do it on an actual live call. The video invite list was masked but I know my entire team was let go, and none of us could mute/unmute ourselves or turn on our cameras to see each other. My team received zero warning about this. My manager said he was completely blindsided.

S&P Global reported on US manufacturing layoffs. Layoffs in June reached levels not seen since 2009. This excludes the initial COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. Concerns over global demand and rising costs drove these job cuts. Manufacturing PMI growth was mainly due to inventory replenishment.

Its been over a week, and I am no where near making a decision. Over 15 years at this company...kids, mortgage...this is horrifying... If we sign - and then get cut - at least we get something - but if dont sign - and they decide to cut us - we got nothing? is that right?

St. Charles Health System eliminated 22 leadership positions. This action followed a reassessment of leadership roles. Twenty-three vacant positions will also remain unfilled. CEO Michael Hartke mentioned recent growth. Direct patient care staff were not impacted.

I know it sounds odd considering the state of the job market, but I keep hoping I'll be on the layoff list. I'm too chickenshit to quit, so having them make the decision for me would be perfect. I was excited when we were spun-off, imagining great things, but I was brought back to reality fast. Now all I want is to be out of here.
