@gr the 30k nontechnical project mana-sh--s are here to downvote. 7 hrs of work downtime and unlimited pto so......
Synergy.
@gr lotta downvoters. Lmao wonder what group. Nontechnical are finally running scared
@m5 h1b's are a protected class and bring great value with their hunger to survive
Anyone know how much TECH DEBT is reduced by getting rid of just ONE of the 40-60k nontechnical do-nothings?
@gn cisco has been spending a billion dollars almost every damn qtr on stock buyback since cr took over. Imagine were the company might be if for ONE qtr we could put that back into products
@gr i wasn’t a dead weight but since i noticed those who provided lip services got promoted i become one. IGDAF about the work i do anymore. Sadly!
I consistently got > 1.3 IPF in the last 10 years.
@gr it's not really a one time cost if it recurs every quarter though
@gn It is more expensive to drag unnecessary employees along than taking the one time cost to cut them. After 2 - 3 quarters it is a financial gain. Dead weight is expensive.
@gm nothing. although spending a billion dollars every quarter just to get rid of people isn't really gonna work for very long.
What stops them from adding more budget for LRs this quarter and the following quarters ?
@be
The May LR set aside $1b but they only used $450m. You know that the rest of the $550m is going to be used this time. It was 4000 cut last time so if things are generally proportional then the August LR is gonna cut 5000 people. It's really simple math.
Nope, half of that is for paying the EU and other countries ppl where the layoff are delayed due to mandatory consultation and legislation specific to those countries
@bc ant the SBG apocalypse + their mangers trashing
oh and there the nut with "the constant change"
Two being planned of equal size but different cost centers. Aug and Nov
choo choo hear that? it's the lr train and it's coming soon to a pr near you.
chucky and gang will chop more heads and claim it's to support their deep investment in ai, i bet you.
these c-levels aren't very original with their layoff excuses
@bc They had to close the Richardson site. That place was a death trap.
@de probably from Circuit 😂
@de lol 😂
@dc From who?
@OP heard it is being postponed/cancelled.
@c0 you mean August?
cisco has LRs annually at the end of their FY. why even ask? it's coming. likely there will be notification or a pr dropped by mid-sept. they'll probably blame it on ai costs like all the other big tech companies seem to be doing.
it's been postponed until end of FY27 as BU's are becoming more agile and leveraging AI tools in the day to day operations. Those that were deemed unable to execute this new strategy and learn how to work with AI were affected so there should be improvements across the company. GO CSCO

Another two weeks before the earnings. The chatter accelerates now, and soon you see notices of RTP and Richardson sites closing.
How much is the severance ?
@OP Cisco has a lr every 3 months like clockwork. you might as well learn to exepct it.
If there are going to be LR's I promise you that it won't be the last resort. It will be top of mind and first resort. Put all plans on hold now.
Yes. 50% cut across the board. My duck told me so.
