Oracle is getting REALLY desperate. "Force Majeure" LOL

Attempting to claim Force Majeure on it's data center commitments. There is only one problem, "Force Majeure" doesn't apply to stupid deals a company cant afford. It usually only applies in the case of acts of Nature like Earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and severe storms, for human actions like wars, riots, strikes, and acts of terrorism, or government actions like unexpected laws, embargoes, or shutdowns.

Oracle looks VERY weak, and VERY broke if they are trying this stunt.

TPO is joke

The current response quality coming from TPO is deeply concerning. The level of inaccuracies and inadequate handling of queries by Pune from global regions is not acceptable for an organization operating at our scale. This is not just a matter of operational inefficiency. it exposes the company to real legal and financial risks, especially in Europe, where labor law is strict, employee rights are strongly protected and violations can lead to significant penalties. Is the company fully aware of the potential consequences of maintaining such low-quality support in areas directly connected to compliance, employee rights? Why regional TPOs are not responding properly!

Working Together/Required in Office Warning?

I missed last month's required in office days by one. I can still go in and book a day off if I need to make myself compliant. Do I need to do that though or will I get a free warning/one free strike? Or is it too risky? I was only off by a day and Ive met or exceeded the days for the last few years.

IT&V

Imagine the mess coming.

IT&V is going to take much of Audit’s work. IT&V hired a large group of Big 4 leaders that do not know internal audit, do not know how to identify an issue, or how to navigate the bank. They effectively QA control documentation pretending to evaluate the control enviornment. IT&V is not built to find issues and is not finding issues. Risk is a bigger mess than it was 5 years ago with over reliance on RCSA.

We will back in a huge mess in less than 3 years. In the meantime, we shrink. We make questionable decisions.

These things take time. Grab the popcorn.

Bullsh-t Metics

Anyone else fed up with the false metrics leadership is using to measure success in the risk and control space. Its ironic that the department that was built up because of the sales metic that was an illusion of added profits is now deploying the same metic illusions of reduced costs.

Asking for $60 billion in debt financing

I know AI is all the rage, but when I see we're looking for more than $60 billion in debt financing, I can't help but wonder how much risk is piling up. That's a huge amount of money, and if the AI bo-m slows down, I don't want the employees paying for it through more cost-cutting or pressure to hit impossible targets.

At what net worth do layoffs stop feeling like a real threat

I’ve been following the news and doing some financial planning. I’ve been thinking from a net worth perspective instead of just cash flow.

I get that if you’re already a multi-millionaire, instability from a potential layoff doesn’t keep you up at night. I’m curious though, at what net worth did you personally stop fretting much about this kind of risk?

The usual advice is to save up 6 months of expenses in cash, but I’m curious from the asset side.

Is this an OK question to ask here? Just trying to do some planning when the rumors are floating around.

LP Structure

Why would anyone take this. Here’s a few things I’ve thought about:

  1. You have no control or say over how the firm is run
  2. No covenants and Class B has no rate floor, so you are last in line for any payouts
  3. If something happened in the markets, or the firm is badly run, you have your salary, bonus, and LP at risk, it concentrates your wealth to a single firm you have no control over.
  4. 20% over the last few years might not have even been better than a growth fund, so there are alternatives.

The whole structure comes down to whether you trust the current management or not.

What am I missing?

tokenmaxxing is dead

"So began the gradual rollback of ... “tokenmaxxing,” the misguided — and ultimately short-lived — trend based on the idea that the solution to every problem is more AI. That view is falling out of favor, both because employers are reckoning with AI’s runaway costs and because workers are realizing that it’s not always the best way to get things done."

bwahahahaha. Someone tell Derek Flowers. Risk is so fu---d. AI is not the solution, but now the workplace is so toxic and the technology is to clunky no one wants to work in Risk.

Looks like Dave Calhoun the fired train wreck that put Boeing in the toilet is already leading Ford

Ford issues multiple SUV recalls over fire, rollaway and seat risks
Fire hazard warning: Over 565,000 Broncos and Bronco Raptors are recalled for wiring harness damage that can spark engine fires, with owners told not to drive or park indoors.

Rollaway risk: More than 741,000 Expeditions and Navigators face a park system defect that can let vehicles move in 'Park,' prompting a software fix and urgent parking precautions.

Seat safety flaw: Nearly 400,000 Explorers and Aviators have rear seats that may not lock, risking passenger injury; dealers will inspect and repair at no cost.

Ford truck and car transmission troubles
Widespread complaints: Ford’s 10R80, DPS6, and hybrid truck transmissions have generated thousands of owner reports of hard shifts, hesitation, and loss of power.

Manufacturer action: Ford issued multiple Technical Service Bulletins, recalls, and design updates, but not all owners feel the fixes fully resolved the issues.

Ongoing impact: Litigation, warranty costs, and damaged consumer trust continue to affect Ford’s balance sheet and reputation.

Little VZ stock pop is due to the Iran conflict heating up, NOT due to VZ leadership decisions

AT&T and TMO are also up. Look at the history of these telecom stocks. They go up when the other equities go down due to market risks increasing (wars, rising oil, etc.). Grandma clutches her pearls tighter and moves her money to utilities. She'll move it out of telecom when she thinks the risk is less, and VZ will then continue it's slide.

Confessions of a vibe coder

I push cursor-generated code without even looking at it. In fact, I haven't even looked at our codebase in months. All I interact with is the chat window. My teammates don't even read the PR's, they just trust the Copilot comments and approve. So far, nothing has broken. Any other teams doing it like this?

AA Debt

34.78 BILLION with a "B" !!!! Only 3.3 Billion left to use in revolving debt . Think about that ! They still hang on to the idea of sending a huge amount of money to Tulsa operations . Other airlines farm out maintenance and don't have to pay for health insurance , retirement , costly union rules etc . One twister in Tulsa could wreck the maintenance system of the airline for years . Playing Russian roulette ... Is Tulsa an asset or a drain ???

In trouble ?

Oracle is the only major hyperscaler funding its AI buildout with massive debt and deeply negative cash flow (compared to cash-rich peers like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google) If backlog conversion stalls or financing terms tighten, the leverage introduces extreme risk

If Your Position Is Not Business Critical...

if your position is not business critical, the business has no reason to reject your VSP application. business critical positions have already been identified.

why did everyone get the VSP? simple... to reduce the risk of discrimination claims.

the only way your VSP application is getting denied is if the elimination of your position will increase risk for the business or if too many people on your team applied. it will not get denied because your PL wants to keep you here (those words came from my PL). if the work can be redistributed to your team, it will be.

someone on my team applied for the VSP and the discussion of how their work is going to be redistributed has already been had. those of us who are staying will have to prepare for things to get a lot worse before they get better.

FortiBleed

Another at&t data leak called FortiBleed. This one confirmed for the att.net domain on the tracking database at
https://www.hudsonrock.com/fortinet

Does CSO actually prevent anything or does baich just act like he knows cyber from PLE classes? Wonder how much this one will cost us with customer monitoring for exposures?

If history is a teacher, we should look to the past to predict the future. Unless "this time is different."

I don't think this run up has much more to go. Maybe a little, but it's a lot of risk, especially after seeing how quickly it can drop. I started working at Micron (Boise) in 2004 and just recently quit. I remember looking at the stock price history after I started working there and looking at the run up to 2001 and thinking "of course it was going to come crashing down." Now, I want all of you to look at Micron stock now, and set the timeline to MAX. Compare where it is now to where it was in 2001. even if you adjust the chart to inflation, it still shows a massive bubble. All I'm saying is I wouldn't be long on this stock. I'm predicting a bubble burst in October AT THE LATEST. We'll see if I'm right.

Debt fever

As the following article concludes, Oracle has debt obligations around a quarter of a billion dollars.

What is the interest on that amount?
Does everything have to happen perfectly for 15 years to pay that off?
What is plan B?

General Motors Faces Production Risk From Axle Strike

General Motors produces profitable pickup trucks at its Flint Assembly Plant. This plant relies on daily axle deliveries for production. A strike at an American Axle facility threatens these critical shipments. Union workers initiated the strike on May 31. This disruption could significantly jeopardize General Motors' profits.

Merrill WM Banking

Big changes in merrill banking. Word on the street is no more banking quotas monthly for 2026. The new scorecard is radically different suggesting concern over the pressure to open more and more and more accounts. Now the bankers are judged solely on risk and accuracy.
Looks like some freedom fighter took the charge to the Bull, and a RIGHT hook from the disgruntled base connected

Honest question in OBO and farm out

I see we just farmed out 10% of our Trinidad block to Oxy. I have wondered for a long time what the point of this and OBO is. I understand the idea of risk sharing but how are we supposed to have better returns than our competitors when so many of the projects we do are with them? Wouldn’t it be better for us to do 100% out own projects?
