I left VZ enterprise a few years ago and I will share this. One thing that was tiresome were the constant RIF's., I started with Verizon back in 2010...they had 164000 employees...just to put that into perspective, the company continues to shrink, continuess to be mismanaged, continues to flounder with no real direction or plan to build the company and make it strong. On the flip side, NTT employs 250K people globally and yes they have their fair share of problems, but they are not shrinking like Verizon is...

Heard india team will have huge layoffs in December first week. Seems dan wants to cut down on outsourcing

I’m looking to get hired at Verizon as a developer in Alpharetta, Ga.
Have layoffs affected the Alpharetta location?
Is there a hiring freeze now in place?
Do I still have a chance of getting hired?

Petty? Yes. Hear me out though.

My 1 line, phone and watch was running up the score gradually on my bill. About $98 a month or so. Without the employer discount, my bill is now going to be $170! Give me a break. Even if there's no magical ethical carrier, stop giving your money to this corporation.

Anyone else seeing the same? Maybe I am not looking at this the way I should. Please help.

Has anyone heard anything about any layoffs? Seems pretty quiet right now but reading about a lot of companies laying off

Because the way these layoffs were structured doesn’t make much sense, nor how most of the people were selected. The chaos that’s going to follow is going to be impossible to manage.

I am safe, and I dont feel great. I feel destroyed. So many people around me are gone, and my heart is broken. I can't even understand how we move forward without some of the groups we have lost today

This company is on a death spiral.

The part about being laid off is knowing Verizon is still hiring. It feel like a huge betrayal. Many jobs could have been saved if things were REALLY BEING LOOKED AT!

Thursday came around quick. Anyone impacted this week or know of anyone? Someone said ~10 in GCAS tech but I would think more for just before December starts. Thoughts with those that are and have been laid off.

I see for some it's 12/19 and for others it's in February. I'm sure there are other dates in between as well.

If my last day on payroll is 12/19 but my work anniversary is January 1 do I get a prorated amount or is it a hard cut off for years of service?

I was told yesterday that my job will be eliminated on January 2. Feels like Full Potential 2.0.

Can’t speak for all business units but I’m in GNT and our market had new email distros created for all groups of remaining employees (NA, Engineering, RF, SP). All of them were created on 11/12 and first used today after RIF notifications had been made.

What a horrible day, I am safe… but my friends were cut and it just feels like a death. NO ONE deserves to be without a job right before Christmas.

A lot of you knew this day was coming. Seeing all the panic post and comments just says, no one prepared for what could come. Verizon is a mega business and they will cuts ties in a second. If you’re let go, look at it as a blessing. I left Verizon and thankful I’m not dealing with this. I’ll end it with, at first I was scared, time went by and it was the absolute best decision. Well, over the past month we watched our stock just tumble and tumble.... and then tumble some more and watched our stock investments just collapse.

I initially thought the price would see a hold before it got to $250 per share - but didn't happen. Now we are well on our way to $225 per share and at the rate the stock is falling it is well possible that we can crash to $200 by end of year ( next 5 weeks).

Which then begs the question, how low will stock price go before our Board has to take very aggressive measures to curtail the investment losses ( and protect themselves)?

I think at this point the Board was already in discussions to implement layoffs in Q1/26 but at the steady rate the stock is falling combined with a global economy that shows significant signs of the onset of a recession, I am fearful the layoff discussions the Board is having will very well have to be amped up even higher to offset the stock collapse.

Making matters even worse, our Board could not have picked a worse time to shut down our ERP Maintenance biz, which has been the stalwart of a very profitable and steady income stream - we will all live to regret this move.

IT is primarily focused on India, and I dislike this trend. They are the main reason for disruptions in US work culture, often exhibiting micromanagement. We had very great leaders, they were let go to be replaced. Any organizational announcements or changes were only meant to promote "birds of a weather flock together". Look at org chart and when you know budgets are tight, chop off the managed services. Additionally, leadership, including directors and VPs, seems to be accepting kickbacks from managed services to bring in cheaper labor. I'm uncertain about what the future holds for American workers and the next generation. US jobs and companies are for US people not for Asians.

Lost our Director, Area Manager and Supervisor today... Not a good day at Verizon.

I’m so sorry you all are going through this. I went through it with VZ in 2023. I just want to let you ALL know there is life outside of Verizon. I encourage you to take full advantage of the FREE resources they offer regarding job readiness. You will find yourself working a lot less hours, actually being able to have a life & being happier overall. I know today is hard, but just know the light at the end of the tunnel is much brighter than you could ever imagine.

I left in 2024, I was laid off. I'm really sorry to hear about the layoff. That's tough &it's okay to feel whatever you're feeling right now. But i know all of you are VERY capable and good at what you do... Sometimes these things happen and they end up leading to something better, even tho it may not feel that way right now. I did and you WILL land at some place that appreciates what you bring. Godspeed.

I just want you all to know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. I have several friends who still work for the company and they're all stressed. This is tough for everyone, especially with it being the holiday season. Hope everyone can lean on each other whether you kept your job or were laid off. Reach out to those who were let go and love on them. As it can put people in a really dark place. To those who were laid off, stay positive and encouraged as something better will come your way!
