September layoffs total
Sep30 1pm UTC - Oct 4am UTC totals: 468 layoffs.
September totals (except Sep01): 6275 layoffs, and 861 additions.
Methodology and day-by-day breakdown is in comments.
This is a floor estimate, as many non-NA regions have layoffs with people still present in Slack and their access is fully cut with large delay.
They Don't Care!
Today, September 30th, Neogen Corporation laid off 200 employees without warning. There is no reason for this!
"So far in 2025, IBM has laid off around 9 000 workers."

Probably a lot more. They just rely on slopfarms that talk about one particular wave while ignoring all other data points.

Avalanche didn't mention Contraband or Microsoft when announcing its restructuring plan. The company simply stated it has been impacted by "challenges to our business and the industry."

“People are our greatest asset”
They seriously included this in emails about layoffs? I know nobody really bothers reading these anymore but they aren’t even trying anymore.
Lay off the Detractors
C'mon ATT. You've sent plenty of good people packing, yet somehow missed a significant number of freeloaders who haven't worked an honest day in years. Those Detractors bring down the performance of everyone around them, always complaining about a policy or a meeting or Visa workers or the current leadership. Profitability would increase by reducing the distraction of employees who clearly don't want to be here. We aren't short on headcount. We are short on employees who are willing to work. Build a better workforce.
Subject: 200+ Monthly Terminations, “Voluntary” Severance, and Potential WARN Act Violations
Over the past several months, it’s clear the company has been consistently laying off employees — roughly the same number each month, almost like clockwork. While leadership has publicly acknowledged these reductions, there are a few things don’t fully add up.
Where’s the WARN Notice? So far, I haven’t found any WARN notice filings from our company — at either the federal or state level. This is unusual given the scope and repetition of the layoffs.
Why WARN Notices Matter
• Transparency: WARN notices are public and include specific details (locations, job roles, counts). Avoiding this filing prevents employees from having a full understanding of what’s happening.
• Rights & Pay: If WARN rules apply and weren’t followed, affected employees may be legally entitled to back pay and benefits for the 60-day notice period.
• Legal Risk: Staggering layoffs to avoid crossing the 50-person threshold may seem clever on paper, but courts can still view it as part of a broader layoff plan. That’s risky — for the company and for us.
200 Employees Terminated Per Month — For Two Years
Internal data and broader reporting indicate that roughly 200 employees have been leaving the company every month for the last two years. That adds up to 4,800+ departures.
Some of this may be natural attrition — but this figure closely matches reports of involuntary terminations, suggesting it’s not just people quitting on their own.
Additionally, the company rolled out a voluntary severance program — which about 600 employees accepted — under conditions that felt like “quit now or risk being laid off later.”
Meanwhile, many departments have been offshored, with knowledge transfer efforts happening in parallel.
What the DOL and Courts Say About “Voluntary” Severance
According to the U.S. Department of Labor:
“Voluntary departures, retirements, or resignations generally do not count, unless the employee departure is caused by the employer and qualifies as an employment loss.”
Source: DOL WARM Act FAQ
Regulations: 20 CFR: 693.3(f)
So if it was implied that employees were to “Take the package now or be on the next layoff list,”
That may legally count as a layoff, not a voluntary exit. And if those numbers weren’t included in WARN reporting? That’s a serious issue.
Staggered Layoffs = WARN Evasion?
Federal law also explicitly prohibits breaking up layoffs to avoid WARN thresholds. According to 20 CFR § 639.5(a)(2):
“An employer may not evade the purpose of the Act by staggering terminations… if they are part of a common layoff plan.”
If 200 employees are being terminated monthly — even across departments or locations — and no WARN notices are being filed, that strongly suggests a strategy designed to stay just under the legal reporting threshold.
For Reporters or Watchdogs Monitoring This Forum:
How has no one picked up this story?!?
This situation potentially involves:
• Thousands of U.S. terminations over 24 months
• A “voluntary” severance program used to disguise layoffs
• No public WARN filings (despite the scale)
• A clear pattern of offshoring and workforce consolidation
• Potential WARN Act non-compliance through structuring and timing.
• Oh and don’t forget the philanthropic award the company won a few years ago for committing to increasing local jobs in St.Louis by 10%.
Boulder County lays off 31 employees, cuts about 60 vacant positions
Boulder County announced Monday that it has eliminated about 90 positions, including laying off 31 employees and cutting about 60 vacant positions, because of a budget deficit.
The Boulder County Housing Authority and Boulder County Public Health also plan to eliminate an as-yet-to-be determined number of positions, according to the county. Boulder County spokesperson Gloria Handyside said she’s not currently releasing a list of the eliminated positions. She added the county is offering a voluntary severance package between Oct. 1 and Dec. 1.

ChatGPT Summary of ExxonMobil 2025 Employee Strategy
Predictions indicate that ExxonMobil may face significant layoffs in 2025 due to ongoing cost-cutting measures and restructuring efforts.
Context and Predictions
Recent discussions among employees and industry analysts suggest that ExxonMobil is preparing for substantial workforce reductions over the next few years. Concerns have been raised about the company's commitment to achieving $7 billion in structural cost savings, which may lead to layoffs across various departments and locations, including key operational areas in the United States and internationally.
Employee Sentiments
Many employees express anxiety about job security, citing a culture of increased micromanagement, turnover, and a push for higher productivity with fewer resources. There are indications that the company may continue to outsource jobs and reduce benefits, further contributing to a challenging work environment.
Financial Performance
While ExxonMobil reported strong financial results in the second quarter of 2025, including earnings of $7.1 billion, the company is also focusing on cost-saving strategies to maintain profitability amid fluctuating market conditions. This dual focus on financial performance and cost reduction may lead to difficult decisions regarding staffing levels.
ExxonMobil
In summary, while ExxonMobil's financial health appears robust, the combination of cost-cutting initiatives and employee concerns suggests that layoffs could be a significant aspect of the company's strategy moving forward into 2025. Employees and stakeholders are advised to stay informed about developments as the situation evolves.

Gartner had mass layoffs across their Talent Acquisition org today
A Message from Andy Obert: SVP Talent Acquisition
Team,
As you know well, the macroeconomic environment remains volatile and complex. As a result, we’ve reduced hiring across the company in line with our current revenue and our near-term growth aspirations.
Recruiting top talent remains a critical capability for long-term growth; however, we must take decisive action to realign Talent Acquisition’s capacity with Gartner’s current hiring plans.
As a result, we have made the decision to eliminate some roles in TA. Impacted associates will be notified today, 30 September.
I will be in touch later today once this process has been completed.
Today will be challenging for all of us. Thank you for being considerate and supportive of each other.
Andy
Upcoming layoffs
Probably multiple locations and sectors including technology may be impacted not just HCOL
Why are people talking about more layoffs and outsourcing?
Was there an announcement I miss? Or is it just speculation?
Layoff list
If one were to ask to be put on the “list” how long do you think it would take from the ask to the axe?
More stealth layoffs
Watch out. More stealth layoffs in the pursuit of money. Iridium used to stand for something
Meet the new boss, same as the old
New head ceo and regional vice presidents since the last wave all got kicked to the curb at the same time. Naturally, they want to make an impact on the bottom line quickly, so they are going the basic mba bro route, by announcing that 10% of the company will be laid off in the coming months. Merry Xmas everybody! Remember… they’re not taking this lightly and it’s a tough decision, but what is a poor CEO to do?
Layoffs coming soon
Just got my notice of required training for workplace violence. This usually goes out right before layoffs.
Like Rich like John
Didn’t Whelan say in the last forum that he and Rich are friends outside of work. Well Rich was named the Canadian business man of the year by some bullsh-t organization, after he massacred 3k jobs at Suncor.
This is just another Rich inspired move. This guy is just a little puppet to DW and Kruger.
Canada’s future is not for sale. Write to your representatives. Speak out. Stand up. Fight back against betrayal. Silence is surrender.
Betrayal at Home Imperial Oil Offshores Canadian Jobs After Exploiting Resources
After decades of degrading Canada’s environment, draining communities, and profiting from our natural resources, Imperial Oil,under the control of its U.S. parent giant, is shipping 20% jobs to India
Next 2 weeks
Coming soon…….
US oil giant offshores 900 well paying Canadian Jobs
Should be the title of the press release.
Most of the analysis and decisions were led by ExxonMobil employees in Houston and elsewhere in the world. Imperial despite being an independent publicly traded company was puppeteered by its American masters.
This should be headline news everywhere in Canada tonight. But instead, given it doesn’t affect Ontario or Quebec it will be swept under the rug.
What happened to elbows up?
This isn’t all. Consider this
Imperial just spent a ton of money on relocations, moving planners, operations leads, managers, etc to Calgary. They even moved the mine dispatch and control room to Calgary.
It has long been suspected that they have been trying to reduce headcount enough to sell Kearl (only two possible companies).
Do you think they are going to spend money to relocate a big chunk of people twice?
Plus they built QP nit all that long ago but now they are building another building at Strathcona?
I would bet money that once initial headcount reductions are done they are in a position to close on a pending sale of Kearl. Everyone there will be grateful their new employer isn’t moving them to Edmonton. They carry on with the plan and the company is even smaller.
Another domino is falling here. Logically something is missing or this is one of the worst played downsizing events in history.
Ex IOL - We're with you
Amidst todays news, just wanted to pass this along. All of us former employees are with you in spirit. There's so much information and news to digest and a massive human element to all this. Just remember, Imperial hires fantastic people, regardless of what specific outcomes are, we all hope things work out for everyone individually. Take care

It would interested to ask Lyons how will Fiserv innovate with all the layoffs and loss of simple technical and product knowledge that his predecessor let go to pump and dump the stock price.
