I know many will dislike this post, but I really do not care. I am glad Verizon is dropping all DEI initiatives and going back to merit-based practices. Good luck to everyone tomorrow. Even if we don't get a call tomorrow, I have no doubt more are on the way.

With all these layoffs happening tomorrow and early next year. Do we still expect for a strike to happen out in the east coast or will the new CEO settle ?
Technology Sector Layoffs (2024, and 2025 thus far); the numbers.
Technology Sector layoffs -
Here are the (current) numbers, year-to-date; which includes Verizon laying off; 15,000 employees next week.
2025 - Total (thus far).
644 Layoffs - 201,675 employees affected (624 people per day).
2024 - Total (for comparisons).
1,115 Layoffs - 239,101 employees affected (655 people per day).
The stock market, and the U.S. economy are (2) different things (ultimately) the stock market will catch-up.
I still project a Major Recession enroute for the U.S. economy by mid-2026 (should current trends continue).
These are the facts.

VZ CEO from 11/17/2025 In my opinion the union is done after watching this. So start maneuvering
How come old Verizon execs joined Frontier
a company that once was sold, got bankrupt and resurrected from the dead .... imagine all the cash these guys made/ will be making....
should we be suspicious ?
Will Frontier also face a massive lay off initiative?
Where is PayPal Boy
No company wide communications from Dan since he announced the layoffs 3 weeks ago… Do we think that he’ll do a webcast or something tomorrow? Or Friday? I’d love to see what he has to say about all this.
What's method for notification? Calls, email, webex? Also, Who is going to notify?
Haven't seen any posts around that. Are managers going to call? Any one can confirm if they got documents to share? Usually that happens at least a day before?
Not to be the bearer of bad news
Everyone keeps asking for specific names, which is understandable but nobody here has them…. The SVP,Vp and band5s affected were already notified - everyone else including AD will be tomorrow
Here is the bad news… someone already posted it on here, but so much stuff is being posted that it moved all the way down.
The stock together award along with the KPIs that made it up are no longer on VZ web, that is being changed up - https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1kaejqjzn
How many people would actually like to go, assuming they take away our stocks and Short term incentive?

Taubman to close permanently
The Taubman Co. is preparing to shutter its Bloomfield Hills headquarters and lay off over 100 employees in the wake of its recent acquisition by Simon Property Group, the nation's largest mall owner and operator.

Just think, this time tomorrow, most of this will be done.
R.I.P.
Thank you to all those in the know, (still on the inside), who have given what you could here.
Thank you to all those, (on the outside), who have chimed in with your experiences.
Thanks to all for the wisdom, the therapy, the venting, and yes, the laughs as we all collectively process through this.
Let the fires burn hot and the whisky sting on the way down. Rock on !!!
Layoff Numbers
Hey guys I report to Dean Brauer from what I understand it’s going to hit hard your immediate teams will be cut in half. So everyone your with today only half will be there next week good luck v teamers
Verizon has turned the corner
Dan has brought a typical corporate America culture to Verizon. Long gone are the days of making a good salary, receiving a good bonus, and having a career path. This is the way it is going to go from here on out people... And I speak from experience.
1) Bonuses will be cut
2) Raises and stock benefits will be reduced (stock might be taken away)
3) Layoffs will continue. This is due to two reasons: 1) Dan wants 30% and this first round is only 15%, and 2) Frontier transition means more people on payroll and they can't be touched for x amount of time.
4) Travel will be cut and have to be approved by SVP levels. Any spending will be scrutinized.
5) Offshore jobs will accelerate. AI will take some, but they'll take the quickest path and that's moving jobs to India.
I am speaking from personal experience. I was actually told I had to take an 15% salary REDUCTION to stay with the company. This was over 20 years ago with EDS (Electronic Data Systems) and then when HP took over (sparked massive layoffs then too). Our CEO got a nice golden parachute on his way out.
Verizon has been very generous with their packages and I just don't see Dan carrying that onward. He is a axe man who will stop at nothing to squeeze out a little more profit.
I am glad I left corporate America and now make a comfortable salary in the private sector. I don't make as much money, but I am happy.. best job I have ever had and I make a difference.
I feel really bad for those being let go and for those staying. It's a lose-lose situation for everyone. Best of luck to all of you.
The layoffs continue
Just heard of a handful of long time employees that were let go.
F/A-18 Sunset El Segundo
Don’t know if it’s an official “layoff” but people are disappearing left and right. Reorg in process, and some groups seem overdue. Production line ending now. Reply if you’ve heard of actual layoffs.
More Rids & Changes Coming in 2026
1) Another RIF in March
2) Bonuses being revamped downward
3) Severance package to include one week per year of service
4) Another RIF in August

Recording the Axe as It Falls
So layoffs are all over the news and now HR’s scrambling, telling us to WFH like that’s gonna fix anything. Pretty sure the media’s already waiting for clips. If I straight‑up say I’m recording the meeting, is that still illegal ? And if I did record it, what kind of questions or reactions would make it blow up online?
Trying to figure out how to make this hit hard the same way it hit me.
Lack of innovation
There was the time that if you proposed downsizing Workforce and talent to increase Revenue you would be laughed out of the room and you'd probably be let go. These are easy solutions in our short-term gains for long-term sacrifices we used to run by the notion that if you lost somebody of 10 years it takes you 10 years or more to replace that person. Then we started analyzing to how long it takes to get somebody at a basic proficiency and that's what we're targeting we can't keep PSO Partners worth anything to turn over is insane the internals that we have of such a bad attitude and are unwilling to change tactics or develop new ones all we have little to no control over partners and what they do tarnishing our brand you're the most Innovative thing was 5G well the thing was there's four G's before it so it really wasn't Innovative at all it was like the 5th sequel to a movie now a lot of us have witnessed the growth of new cell phones and smartphones and they'll probably be like the biggest business growth that will ever see in our lives and what we did with that money was really stupid there's so much we can learn from it but to have someone new from the business try to change so much so quickly as just a disaster and it's insane that the board or the shareholders would trust somebody with billions of dollars within days like literally days of being appointed but we've seen this all before huge layoffs in the past year every single time what would happen before them are people who have been executive level and above resign or retire or move to a different position that's because what was being demanded was against their core values and if it's against the core values of extremely greedy people you know it's wrong even though it might be legal.
I know I'm kind of going all over the place just trying to say that times have changed it's sad to see The Innovation is dead. But I do foresee though is possible class action lawsuits for psychological trauma because everyone's psychological well-being has not been well taken care of during this situation this really should be something that's pursued I really highly recommend talking to an employment law attorney especially if you felt any anxiety or that you've had to take time off or that things have been really hard around the home or even if you include cost from seeking treatment and if you haven't definitely look into it because your mental well-being it's worth more than what any company could ever pay you

At Providence Swedish, the 3.8% workforce reduction will affect the system’s Seattle-based Swedish First Hill Campus, Seattle-based Cherry Hill Swedish, the Swedish Issaquah (Wash.) Campus, the Seattle-based Swedish Ballard Campus and the Swedish Medical Group, according to a Nov. 18 news release.

More than 200 stores?
People have been saying the number might be much higher than what was initially reported. Anyone heard anything solid, or is it all just speculation?
How many high performers are we going to lose this time?
That is what has been happening every single time. Great people with plenty of experience and institutional knowledge get kicked out. I never understood how that can be considered a good business strategy. I know they want to cut costs, but when you get rid of one person who then has to be replaced by two or three people to do the same job, how is that cheaper?
Any idea if the layoffs will be done today?
Or is there more to come? Best of luck to everyone impacted.
