Avaya Patent Sell-Offs

How do you earn some quick cash when you've already shrunk the workforce? Sell off your Intellectual Property! You have to wonder why they weren't sold to Extreme Networks back in 2017 when Avaya sold off its failing <Ahem... non-core 😂) networking business.

No more RIF for next 8 months

No more RIF for next 8 months from Oracle but expect some performance based layoffs in mid-year. Here are the things you should note

  1. Keep minimum 2 projects in your portfolio
  2. Ensure you work with your customers. (don't rely on your lead or manager for inputs)
  3. Maintain good relationship with your manager peers
  4. Talk less. Don't share your stuff with anyone.
  5. If project is not viable or repetitive, just move on

AI is helpful for you to deliver things quickly but makes you d-mb in outside market. You get into a loop always without reason because AI does the reasoning for you.
Use AI to remain competitive to deliver in project but don't rely on it for ever. Remember management will push AI usage to automate your work completely and stabilize it.
Once project is stabilized you are out of game.

Technical expert = avoid layoffs ?

As much as there are reasons to complain and I have a lot of them myself, the flexibility I have working at Dell's data center teams is kind of amazing compared to my counterparts in GCP, OCI, AWS who work 50-80 hours. I mostly average 30 hours a week.

I make less than those guys but it's still six figures. I get to automate a lot since we have windsurf too now.

I'd like to just climb all the way up to Distinguished Eng or at least Staff Eng.

I'm curious if I just keep being technical, would a potential 30 year path work at Dell ?

Living in constant fear of layoffs is beyond depressing

Most of us are already juggling spouses, kids, parents, mortgages, and a never-ending stream of bills. I hate this job, truly. But I'm not confident I could find another one, especially not fast enough to keep up with everything I have to cover. I don't want my job to be about layoffs, and I don't want my life to be only about this job. But that's where we are, and it's only getting worse. I honestly don't know how to keep managing this.

The TRP Culture is Dead (Long Live the FNMA Culture)

It is alarming when senior people are leaving TRP and they are leaving because the culture is dying. It started when they brought in Kimberly Johnson (COO) and it has gone progressively worse with leaders like Ramon Richards and Chris LePre. The culture has been replaced with what employees in Tech called the FNMA culture (which is where Kimberly and Ramon have come from). These leaders have no regard for associates and have brought in a culture of divisiness and toxicity. Associates are fearful of losing their jobs and so do not bring up concerns. Bringing up any concerns brands and tarnishes you as a naysayer by these leaders with fragile egos. What is concerning is that the most senior leaders at TRP are aware of this toxic culture but have done nothing about it, most likely because everyone is just too worried about negative outflows. What they need to realize is that if they don't fix the culture (and soon) they will continue to lose talent and the ship will continue to sink and by then it will be too late. There needs to be leadership changes in order to fix this issue.

Building Closures?

I've heard conflicting information on building closures that may be moving forward.
Does anyone have a list of locations, or information on how they're selecting buildings/campuses that are going to be closed? Does anyone know what that means for employees in those locations?
I've heard some locations, and then also heard that some changes in what locations are affected have taken place.
If anyone knows anything they can share, it would be greatly appreciated.
Rumors of an announcement date of 4/20, but I'm not sure if that's accurate, either.

LAS deadline approaching

On April 15, 2026, every file-based Citrix license stops working. The new License Activation Service (LAS) is a cloud-based control mechanism.
No more on-premises static license files - install and forget - but external cloud dependency, connectivity testing, failover validation, etc. In some highly regulated business, it creates an architectural problem requiring more effort.
And LAS does not work with older versions of Citrix products: some big organizations have to upgrade their entire Citrix stack, and install all kind of patchs, sometimes provoking problems of ... license expiration.

I see customers complaining about the lack of support, probably overwhelmed by requests to solve the problems created by this new LAS.
And also customers questioning the costs of this LAS migration, that is imposed to them, for more constraints and no tangible benefit. Mandatory stay on supported versions. Citrix telemetry to verify usage data. Compliance checking. And wondering if the effort to migrate to another platform would not be better.

Sometimes I think that Citrix management is doing all they can to lose customers. Customers layoffs I suppose.

Who Is Smarter? Our Execs or A Pile Of Rocks

So we are moving back South of the Red River from the great OKC metroplex Me thinks our Execs or running neck and neck with a pile of rocks for being incompetent bo--s. Spend the money to move me to OKC then spend money to move me back to Spring. What a waste and that money should be paid for from their annual bonuses.

Oh and rumor has it that layoffs in Spring are gonna help pay for relo. Make it make sense. What a d-mb timeline for us.

Wonder why CHK and SWN went bankrupt or pink sheet stock. Look at the numb nuts running it.

TR putting highly tenured employees on plans to avoid paying severance

How is HR or someone at the top think this is a good idea. Several highly tenured employees are being put on 30 plans who have never received warnings or prior poor ratings. If this is the plan to move out employees without paying severance, this should be illegal. #concern #ageism #unethicalHRpractice #values #ethics

GCC master plan

a working theory but if you work with GCC and the US managers at all you will know how accurate this is.

Step 1- move all or most system knowledge offshore to GCC (infosys)
Step 2- layoff the people on shore that transferred the knowledge to GCC
Step 3- GCC is now only solution to previously US based roles, reinforcing GCC hiring
Step 4- create unnecessary manager and director roles for the US based workers who facilitated the GCC knowledge accumulation (who are almost all from the same country as the GCC, fyi)
Step 5- hire and promote only people from the GCC and keep rewarding the people that manage them and continue to lay off US based Waters employees
Step 6- repeat across the company.

Lost Identity

This is a company that is slowly losing its identity. Rent-A-Center is now forcing their employees into becoming a Amazon drop off hub. This a desperation move to attempt new blood into Rent-A-Center. This means additional responsibilities for employees without any additional pay. So on top of begging clients to buy something, chasing after past due clients that just hide behind their doors, employees are expected to ship out a unrelated companies packages. Is it even Rent-A-Center anymore or just a company on life support?

Stories

I worked at Oracle for 15 years in a GBU run by complete clowns. I realized too late that half the people were completely incompetent and they were usually mgmt. so lately a former colleague who also left O years ago told me the stories of some people getting laid off. “He was checked out since 2012…..he was waiting for it for the last 14 years….he didn’t care at all…” “oh, so sad, she got laid off….shes been there so long….i mean…” the first guy, prob hero to most. I def understand it. Now the second person. She was there when I was there. She acted like big stuff. She got roles in cloud and she never even knew anything about cloud or app or even was in the trenches. How did she move up? She was buddy buddy with our horrible mgmt. then she got one of her buddies on the team. Both of them together couldn’t update any Oracle app on their own laptops. I told my former colleague, I have zero empathy for her getting laid off. If she thought the skills and job she did that a 10 yr old could do would last forever, she deserved it. Oracle is different than many companies. Mgmt su-ks and really there literally thousands of people who are hiding. They may have joined via some small company that Oracle took a liking to and purchased and then they’re this “techie”. They’re not. My last 2 managers, Walmart greeters had more technical know how than both of them. Both were a-holes. I have zero sympathy for these people that not only skated but treated people like sh-t as tons and tons of talent left cause of people like her and mgmt. good riddance.

Can we use this forum for more?

Situation: Layoffs have been occurring almost continually globally for the past period, at least 8 years, possibly much longer. Yet we only here anecdotal information regarding details.
Idea: Instead of just posting here, alert any remaining local media sources in your region about what has happened. Maybe that has already been done. If so, post a link to the article here where others can share on social media. If not, tell the story and if the media is still well-funded enough, may be able to do some investigative reporting. The idea is to get a larger audience aware of the ongoing removal of employees.
Benefits:

  • Increased possibilities of potential new employees thinking twice before joining
  • raised awareness of retail investors who are chasing a dividend or turnaround,
  • expanded visibility for current employees to what is actually happening in the environment (particularly remote employees who don't see their co-workers being walked out)
  • Feel good effect by letting a broader audience know what the company is attempting to keep hidden

Average mgmt

Once upon a time an employee
In management hogged his or her seat for almost decades.
In times like these , where the stock price is not moving and hovering around at a standstill, why is management still hogging their seats with over 3 years
. There should be a constant annual churn if you are not producing just like our top
Employees were let go in RIF. There has to be a specific management level RIF as well
.

Command Center outsourced?

I heard the Command Center and Help Desk departments were recently outsourced before the New Year? And now from seeing this site, it seems that a lot of departments are being slashed? Wow. How is this affecting the day to day operations with the app support and daily prod processing that was always deemed critical?

I currently work at Oracle Pleasanton office. I previously worked at the Santa Clara office. I am glad to have gotten out of there.

At the Pleasanton office. Every day I am surrounded by self-entitled D-Bags. These people really think they are better than everyone and look down at you. There are also many D-Bags at the Santa Clara office too. Hopefully with continued lay-offs at Pleasanton and Santa Clara Oracle gets rid of more of the D-Bags.
