Nielsen/Fidelity - Pension Annuity

I started with Nielsen in the early 2000's and at that time they had a retirement annuity program vis Fidelity. Dave Calhoun was quick to end that bad boy asap once he raided the place in 2006. I'm long gone from Nielsen but I still have this small annuity from about 6yrs of work which totals about $35K and says my payout can only be monthy when I turn 65 (retirmente age)...which will be about $200 per month. So not really much money at all. I'd love to try and get a lump sum now which is what many of my colleagues at the time got when they were let go or quit (however they were employees from the 80s and 90s). Is anyone familiar with this pension plan or how to go about getting a lump sum payment? I've tried several times to do so on the fidelity website but always get rejected. Thanks.

Should I apply for a job?

Hey all, I’m a geo looking for my second role and thinking about whether it’s worth applying to Permian Resources if something comes up. I’ve seen a lot of harsh feedback - poor culture, little support, high turnover, and I’m honestly hesitant. Jobs are scarce though, so I’m wondering is it really that bad, or are there any redeeming qualities? Would appreciate any honest insights.

Combatting Mental Health Effects

Wondering what people are doing to try and keep some mental sanity in tact amid the chaotic culture and toxicity, particularly when the market outside doesn’t look like a good alternative right now. I’ve been trying to get into some ‘zen’ type outlets like Yoga and journaling, and it really does help. Doesn’t seem like there’s any other way out of a spiraling mental cluster but would love to hear how others are coping.

Most of Intel manufacturing sites are Not in US, but in other countries (China, Ireland, Israel, Malasia, Vietnam, etc). Is Intel a US company?

Most of Intel's fabs, assembly and packaging sites are in other countries, not in US at all. Intel only has 60% fabs in US, and 99% assemble and packaging are in other countries (China, Malaysia, Penang, etc).

Does Intel count as a US manufacturing company? Its manufacturing in non-US countries is higher than other companies.

How is digital supporting Access platform?

I’m considering leaving a competitor bank for JPMC to work as product manager supporting Access platform in commercial banking. What are the culture and teams like? I support a digital commercial platform as a product owner currently at a competitor bank.

Will this lead to a layoff?

I have been on leave since February and recently returned. I have been out of the loop, to say the least. Usually, I feel more 'in the know', but I feel vulnerable and on the outside. Understanding that...

I am currently in a role that supports the Texas Duals program. I was wondering, if based on leadership meetings (that I missed), and possibly other things, like internal conversations with other areas, mgmt. etc., if any one thinks there will be layoff around the program terminating at the end of the year? My role directly supports the program, so I am wondering if I should start looking elsewhere.

Serious question: what happens if you just…quit?

I work in a back office operation (50K-plus, no bonus, no client facing). If I just up and quit with no notice (other than on the day via letter, per se), there’s nothing they can do, right? What happens if you quit BEFORE using any vacation days? I am quitting with a view toward retirement/no more work.

Negotiating Salary/Benefits Package as Internal Candidate

I work at U.S. Bank right now and got offered a new internal position. questions are:

  • How successful have fellow internal folks been at negotiating salary? Any tips on how to maximize salary without going overboard?
  • Has anyone been able to negotiate their vacation package (e.g., 2 weeks to 3 weeks) or any other benefits?
  • any other areas that other internal folks have been successful at negotiating?

For context, I was offered around $65K which I feel is low and $80-85K is more in line with industry and based on my skills. Thanks for any advice you might all have.
