There was a post about linking the new H1-B fee to solidifying offshoring. Post got deleted. It had some good information on how this will now make more sense for the bank to open their global capability center (GCC) in India for which they are currently shopping. I wonder why it was deleted. Creating this new post so someone can answer ;-)

@2xx 😭
@2xv LOL! You do realize that the jobs ARE going with them, right? It’s by design. Now go re-read what you wrote in that context. I’m sure the H1-B’s are extending the same sympathy to you. It’s not a reflection of your performance…
@2tx not as proud as you making asinine comments from your mommy’s basement.
Over recent years, multiple independent studies and corporate reports have shown that Indian professionals are just as highly qualified and capable as H-1B workers in the United States—and in many cases, India offers comparable expertise at a significantly lower total cost. Research shows that salary and employment cost savings of 60-80% are achievable by hiring remote Indian staff versus hiring in-U.S. equivalents, without compromising quality.
The bank is moving toward a staffing model that more fully leverages Indian-based talent, experts with credentials, experience, and technical acumen equal to those of H-1B workers in the U.S., while optimizing overall cost, flexibility, and global competitiveness.
To all H-1B visa holders: we thank you sincerely for the contributions, innovations, and commitment you’ve made. Your dedication has helped build value and capability, especially in roles and functions where your skills were essential. As the institution adjusts its strategy, this is not a reflection of your performance but rather of changing economic, regulatory, and strategic realities. We wish you the very best in whatever your next steps may be, confident that your talents will continue to be in high demand.
@2by oh cool. You got to use a phrase you read on YouTube comments. You must be proud.
Sigh! Y'all are so naive with your high hopes about locals getting jobs and all that sh-t. Truth is ... it is a facade for large companies like this bank to freely offshore their work. Watch how quickly the bank sets up shops and hires Indians as US Bank employees in Mumbai! Half the country voted for this nightmare and hope they are enjoying it.
@2fx Spot on!
@1n0 not the poster you replied to but are you okay? LOL! Sounded like you had a small episode of realization with the truth, did not like it and went into toddler tantrum mode.
@1g8 Blah, blah, blah, blah. Feel better now SJW?
FFS! This is class warfare people! As it has always been.
You being of a certain race does not make you any superior or inferior by itself. I have seen both amazing and terrible employees among same race, color, ethnicity, and whatever other cr-p y'all can concoct to "stand out" ... on every single such distinction.
This is just the truly rich class trying to divide us. H1-B's can all disappear tomorrow but if you think your financial woes are going away with it then I have a bridge in NYC that I own and will sell to you.
@1be I love that this site is showing how racist people are. Good job. You feel better?
Bed bugs come simply from traveling. You could pick them up anywhere, but we sure as fu-k shouldn't have to worry about picking them up in an office we don't need to be in to begin with.
@ym LOL, who cares.
@xw someday you will realize how stupid you sounded with your comment. But for now read this and have a better understanding of the world around you.

@xw ... and you are playing right in to the hand of the super rich with this type of thinking. It sure is between "You vs. Them" but do you know who "Them" truly is? Take a few minutes and think about it.
While I have no doubt there will be an increasing rush to offshore, look up "HIRE Act of 2025". It's a very nascent bill, but it seems to have bipartisan support given the similarly minded "End Outsourcing Act". And given how quickly the executive order on H1B visas hit, I wouldn't be surprised if Congress gets beaten to the punch. Not saying any of this is good or bad -- just adding some relevant info that's not getting much news coverage.
We might finally get rid of the curry lickers.
@t5 the country is full of laid off Americans with tech experience. Companies use and abuse the H1B system to get compliant low cost workers that they can abuse because the workers are dependent on that visa. It’s shameful.
@t5 also Dude, US People is not the preferred nomenclature. U.S. citizen, please. After all, the company is called U.S. Bank. Let’s try not to make a complete joke of the name by filling it with H1Bs.
@t5 maybe foreigners should stay in their country and make their country the largest economy in the world. And learn to speak English while they’re at it.
as evidenced by the cloud migration they're not sending their best
@t5 I'm decently positive that there's a wealth of talent in the US, the bank just won't pay for it.
US people don’t have the tech proficiency to do this and they ask for salaries that are not reasonable.
@sq maybe we hire people in the US.....? What a novel idea.
We are in the top 10 of financial services companies and banks with usage of this Visa right now. Who is going to do the work if we can’t recruit developers and tech people this way?
@sd it’s not a law unless Congress passes it. This was another EO by the id--t in power and has no standing long term.
They will try to offshore harder which most companies like ours who abuse H1-B to displace American workers will. The wages of those roles will likely be heavily taxed ultimately to the point that these companies are required to re-shore knowledge jobs. We voted for this, we're tired of having our wages depressed & the threat of being replaced by foreigners here or abroad if we speak-up or organize. It's been going-on since the 90s & the free ride is over. We will see less of these org charts where one person who is from somewhere becomes a manager & suddenly all 50 people under them seems to come from the same place. $100k a pop - it is now law.
Bedbugs at Hopkins? Do tell!
@OP Here for the same reason. I didn't see any comments on the prior thread that were denigrating, so I'm guessing someone spoke the truth we're not supposed to hear.
India is affiliated with Russia. They are also in a semi hot conflict with Pakistan.
Yep, it’s a great idea to have U.S. financial operations and information there. Plus with the recent ocean cable issue, internet connection is slow.
Glad this will at least reduce the bedbug issue at Hopkins.
They need to make it illegal to send people’s banking details overseas. Too much of a risk.
They will just offshore everything now. They have already been doing that with support.
Though clarified since the news broke on Friday it still is quite confusing for the bank. Maybe they will hire more contractors? Layoffs should slow down though as it is now clear that hiring H1-B is expensive.
