Optum wants so desperately to be a leader in consumer health, but is COMPLETELY out of touch with consumers. The consumer executives: Rita Kahn, Katie Schumacher, Robbi (ROBERTA) Thatcher have NO idea how to run a best-in-class product org. From process, to roles, to strategy, to roadmaps, etc. It’s a performative executive DEI club. Also recently added: Benson Chan, a waxy-looking self-indulgent Canadian who is a a big phoney and previously fired from Amazon Alexa. These people don’t lead, are not motivating and aren’t close to the work at all. They just repeat the same talking points at town halls. In 2026 they are injecting $55M of new capital into…. wait for it.., a chatbot called “Optum Companion” that doesn’t actually do anything better than before. Do consumers want this? No! But they will stick it everywhere. It’s more tech determinism cr-p being shoveled at consumers, also led by other executive a--hats like Sandeep Dadlani and Julie Durham who are constantly cheerleading on LinkedIn about AI and “100x” to boost their own personal brands/egos. As for the employee experience and culture, it has become a toxic culture of fear and loathing. Constant rounds of layoffs, and ever increasing return-to-office mandates that can be expected to continue until everyone works in MN or India. The market also agrees, and the stock price has lost practically all gains over the last 5 years. “Healthy Optum-ism” is a hilarious new attempt to revive a failing brand, but is so cringe, it’s unbearable. If you survived this latest round of layoffs (read: firing squad), then I wish you luck, but honestly, do you want to work at a soul-su-king place where you’re always looking over your shoulder wondering if your number will be called next. F this place. Let it burn to the ground.

Well, we all knew it was gonna happen sooner or later. Here we go again. More layoffs.

I have landed a new job after being laid off at Optum (so there is hope and rest assured there is life after Optum). As I meet new colleagues and mention my background the recurring theme is “I have a few buddies over there and all of them are desperately trying to jump ship” or similar. On the other side, I have had job seeking friends and even a recruiter I used in past reach out and say “I am looking at a posting there but I hear it’s just terrible” etc. it seems anecdotally that word has hit the street and if when this offshoring fails and they try to refill in US it might not even be possible to get anyone good.

I keep seeing posts on LinkedIn and places that it’s a reset and Fiserv is a legacy company etc, I worked at Fiserv for 9 years and loved the place. What I saw post merger with First Data, is atrocious. The amount of layoffs and the total dismantling of a great company for short term goals should be downright illegal.

Frank is absolutely responsible for where Fiserv’s stock sits today. Instead of building on what made Fiserv great—long-term, recurring contract value driven by core processing relationships—he chased short-term gains. The repeated rounds of layoffs might have bumped margins for a quarter, but they stripped out the expertise and continuity that sustained core revenue for decades.

He never truly understood the value of the core franchise. Instead of strengthening those contracts, he diverted focus to Clover, which is built on shorter-term merchant agreements that simply don’t offer the same stability or lifetime value. That shift toward quick wins and short-cycle contracts is exactly why the long-term fundamentals have weakened.

In the end, he traded durable revenue for momentary optics—and the stock price reflects that.

Schrodinger began laying off the clinical team today. They’re also ending “independent” clinical development, which really closes the door on their entire clinical pipeline - especially since these poor performing assets have failed to attract any partner interest even after years of development. The Chief Medical Officer is also leaving.

These actions highlight the failure of Schrodinger’s executive leadership and board of directors. Their inability to deliver any assets that can succeed in the clinic is a direct reflection their incompetence, inexperience and ineffective leadership. There’s a repeated pattern of poor judgment, weak decision-making, and avoidance of accountability. It’s amazing that, despite this utter abysmal performance, the C-suite and BoD has not been held accountable. It’s time to clean house and find competent replacements that can deliver results.

Why fire individual contributors- layers of managers is what needs trimming in finance, it’s seems a a lot of one sr manager has 4 managers reporting to them who have 1-2 employees each. A lot of “management” of the few doing work -

I’ve seen some previous posts on NJ WARN but no real clarification on whether VZ has filed/notified. Sounds like they have been able to skirt this in the past, but I assume not this time with significant layoffs happening in a 30 day period.

Any word on Comcast's NorthEast Division layoffs? I used to work there up until I myself got laid off during one of their many restructurings several years back, but many of my co-workers from that time are still there.
