Stock is cratering AGAIN: get ready for even bigger layoffs

Despite all the irrational exuberance a couple of weeks ago when Netflix dropped out of the bidding for WBD, Paramount stock hit its lowest point since TWO THOUSAND AND NINE today.

Seems the reality check finally reached buyers that a $79,000,000,000 debt load is completely unserviceable by any company, let alone one that's currently bleeding more than $300,000,000 per quarter.

But don't worry: Davey Boy is going to "reinvent the industry!"

The seven people who will still be working a PSKY (or whatever the heck he calls it) a year from now should definitely not expect a STIP payout.

Portland State University Plans Deep Program Cuts

Portland State University projects a $35 million budget deficit by 2028. President Ann Cudd announced plans for institutional downsizing, called retrenchment. Nineteen academic departments could see reductions or elimination. Rising costs, limited state funding, and a 23% enrollment drop contribute to the deficit. These changes could lead to staff layoffs, with a final decision expected in June.

12hr shifts for car and loco dept.

Heard from a reliable source a supervisor at NS told me that upper managment says next step NS/UP wants is to have all Carmen and Loco dept work 12hr shifts 5 day a week at all locations, some location are already starting to switch to over to this, they will be looking to fired about 20% of each department for minor offenses even if it they know people could fight to get there job back, they will try and delay each arbitration for 9 month to 1.5 years, thinking most of the people will find a different jobs and not return even if arbitration does win there claim.

Want to bet the vast majority of cuts will come from among us?

Senior management will remain untouched, as usual. For every executive who keeps their job, dozens of us will have to go. They'll go by the numbers to make their selections, which means the better you are, and therefore the more you're paid, the higher your chances of being cut. This company is slowly cannibalizing itself to pay for grandiose decisions that never made business sense.

Oregon Workweek Shortens, Signals Labor Market Weakness

Oregon's average private-sector workweek recently dropped below 33 hours. This marks the shortest workweek in the state since 2010. Economists view this as a sign of slack in the labor market. Recent layoffs and policy changes contributed to the reduction in hours. State forecasters will monitor these trends for future economic updates.

Peel Board Lays Off 300 Teachers Amid Enrollment Drop

The Peel District School Board issued layoff notices. More than 300 teachers received these notices for next September. Declining student enrollment is the primary reason for the cuts. The board's student population has decreased by nearly 10,000 in eight years. An Ontario Education Minister recently appointed a supervisor to the board.

I know they aren't pleased with the company's financial performance but will they eventually cut their losses or is there a possibility that we get sold soon? Any rumours on potential suitors? I need something to look forward to this sh!t is bleak lately.

Blackbaud’s leadership has failed plainly and repeatedly

Years of poor mergers, awful stock performance, and a massive data breach have left the company weaker, less trusted, and increasingly irrelevant. Instead of owning these failures and investing in real product improvement, leadership has done almost the opposite.

The products have stagnated. Customers know it. That’s why they’re leaving. And rather than fixing what’s broken, leadership’s answer has been blunt-force cost cutting and pushing a ~30% SPI increase onto customers who already don’t see the value. It’s not strategy — it’s desperation.

While customers churn and employees are asked to do more with less, Mike and the executive team have quietly extracted hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation from the company. That money didn’t go into innovation, security, or customer success. It went into executive pockets.

The most insulting part is the attitude. When concerns are raised, the response isn’t accountability or respect its dismissal, contempt, and sometimes outright laughter. Leadership hits paydirt while employees hit the breadline, and we’re told this is “good for the business.”

It isn’t. It’s short-term financial engineering at the expense of long-term trust.

Shame on the leadership team for hollowing out a company that once mattered. And shame on anyone still carrying water for decisions that have clearly failed customers, employees, and shareholders alike.

This didn’t have to be the outcome. It was a choice.

Well said, @ad+1keshgf86.

Optum execs taking Disney trips during layoffs

Seriously disgusted.

How do they justify spending company dollars on trips to Disney World when thousands are being laid off?

You don’t hate this company enough.

Why do so many teammates seem unhappy at Truist?

I’m curious to hear from people who read or post in this forum, what are your reasons for not liking Truist as a place to work? I’d appreciate specific examples if you’re willing to share.

Personally, I’ve been with the company for several years, and overall I think the compensation and benefits are decent. My main frustration, though, is the lack of real career progression. When I first joined Truist, the position I’m in now lined up well with my long-term career goals. It gave me the chance to gain meaningful experience in a field I’m genuinely interested in and want to keep developing in.

That said, after being here for quite a while, I’ve felt stuck. It seems like I’ve been pigeonholed into my current role. Year after year, performance reviews with my manager talk about growth and advancement, but in reality they’ve felt more like lip service than a clear path toward moving up.

What makes it more frustrating is that I previously worked for several years at another bank in a role that would essentially be the next step for me. So I already have experience at that level. At Truist, however, that same role would be considered more of a lateral move, meaning there wouldn’t really be a pay increase.

Because of that, it feels like the best option for my career growth and for earning more would be to leave Truist and continue my professional journey somewhere else.

Anyway, sorry for the long rant. I’m just interested in hearing what reasons others have for feeling dissatisfied working at Truist?

Digital employee

So its bad enough we’re losing staff to false performance ratings and India but now we’re going to lose them for imaginary employees. BNY is a joke and everyone needs to get out of banking. All these id--ts are copying each other with RV think BNY is going to lead automation . Yeah ok buddy. First you have to update the dinosaur systems you forced us to use

RTO Blues

I despise coming in 4 days a week. I get to wake up 1.5 hours early and drive for an hour, for what? I get to fake social interaction with distant department members who don't want to be here just like me. I get to spend $20 on parking. I get to spend immeasurable amounts of money maintaining a sh---y professional wardrobe that doesn't get used outside of work.
What benefit does anyone gain from this besides BNY having an excuse to lay some people off?

Before the shill bots come out of the woodwork, prior to COVID, my team was 2 days a week. There's no RTO, it's just increased. I'm not returning to anything.

3 days a week wasn't bad, I'd at least have Friday at home to look forward to, but now to get that I have to ruin my evening on Sunday by dreading going in on Monday. My life has been remarkably more miserable since 4 days started.

WFA days would be a brief reprieve when it got particularly bad on occasion, but they ruined those too.

I don't really know the purpose of this post besides to vent.

Layoff number for the rest of 2026

Has the Q1 round of layoffs wrapped up? Are we expecting another round at the end of Q2? What’s the full-year target for layoffs, and how many have already been cut so far? I only saw media mention 1,000 in January, but no numbers for March or the rest of the year. Any clarity?

2026 JE Calendar Dates

Anyone know if the JE calendar was updated for the rest of the year? I heard there was something in April? If IT is really moving toward a 70/30 HIH/US split, it seems like there will be quite a few more JEs coming up. Low key hoping I get the axe 😬
