A former coworker was laid off last year. I saw a post from him recently. He looks like a different person. Relaxed, smiling, actually happy. I'm not jealous exactly. Just aware that leaving changed something for him. I'm glad he got out.

I need a break, and I wouldn't say no to severance.

I've seen several rounds of cuts now. And I still don't get how they pick who goes. Because time after time, the ones who get cut are the people who carried the team. The ones who went above and beyond, who stayed late, who kept things running. The heart of the team gets ripped out. And the people who do nothing stay.

Want a promotion? Make friends with the higher ups. That's it. But know that after you get promoted, you're more likely to get cut. Higher pay has become a liability. There's no winning here anymore.

No wonder things are falling apart at the seams.

At least the month?

So far around a hundred, or a bit more, city employees were notified and there'll be around 400 more. How it's so easy to take away people's livelihoods I'll never understand. There are other things that could be cut to prevent these layoffs, but here we are.

I can't afford to be laid off so I'm doing all I can to improve myself, but the feedback I get changes depending on who I talk to or even what day it is. Something that’s fine one week suddenly isn’t the next. It makes it really hard to know where I stand. I feel like I’m constantly adjusting without ever actually feeling confident in what I’m doing. This is just worsening my anxiety, to say the least.

The best people being kicked out again? When I was let go last year, what was left of our team was a joke. Just a few a-s-kissers. I wonder how that worked out for them. I hope things are better and at least they're getting rid of actual low performers this time, but I doubt it.

A new CEO has to show how serious he is about cost cutting and being efficient. And of course that he's going to use layoffs to show that. Never mind that his pay and the bonus he'll get from this will negate the majority of the savings. But what a great first impression, buddy. Great job.

Posting this info because I didn't see a definite answer on how much severance pay we will get if let go during the layoffs. My boss just told me that when the last layoff happened , and my coworker was let go from our department , he received TWO weeks pay for severance. He was with Xerox for about a year and a half to two years. SMH . Wishing everybody luck job hunting and getting the he-l out if this company !

United Parcel Service (UPS) plans to close dozens of packaging facilities. This information was disclosed in a recent court filing. The closures include locations with union employees across many states. UPS previously announced 30,000 job cuts and 24 facility closures in January. The company is undergoing a large network reconfiguration for efficiency.

RDO Equipment announced layoffs for dozens of employees this week. The company cited challenging market and economic conditions. These conditions have impacted the agricultural sector for the past year. At least 36 team members were affected by this force reduction. RDO Equipment also cut two percent of its employees in early August.

Chevron is laying off 111 workers in North Dakota. These cuts follow Chevron's acquisition of Hess Corp. The layoffs affect 63 employees in Minot and 48 in Tioga. Chevron completed its merger with Hess on July 18. The company cited efficiency and lower oil prices as factors.

BLS released new data on North Dakota's labor market for December 2025. The state saw 2,000 fewer open positions compared to November. The job openings rate consequently dropped to 4.5 percent. Involuntary separations rose by 1,000 during December. Overall separations increased by 3,000 from the prior month.

You are all missing the point on NRE. It was never about conferring a benefit on older workers. Precisely the opposite. The purpose of NRE was to put pressure on older workers that the company no longer wants and convince them to voluntarily leave at 55 with gratitude to their management who kindly kept them on for a few years as the bogus performance reviews piled up.

The so-called elimination of NRE is likely the combination of two things: 1) no more protection for those who are clearly abusing the system, and 2) dialing up the pressure on the targeted older workers to leave voluntarily with even more gratitude toward the managers who could have let you go but worked the system to squeak you over finish line .

Stop wasting your energy on this lawyering-up cr-p. Not much has changed except that older workers will now find themselves compelled to plant a big wet one on their boss’s backside as they voluntarily exit. Anyone who has made it this far in their career can surely find the strength to pucker up one last time.

Layoffs have been making their way into the department, and there keeps being talk that Platinum Service Leads are next amongst coworkers. Management is also really pushing for us to prove we are busy. Just wanted to put it out there and see what people have been hearing.

The GEO Group is closing its Lea County Correctional Facility in New Mexico. This action will result in over 200 employee layoffs and 1,000 inmate transfers. The company chose not to renew its operating contract with the county. New Mexico declined to purchase the facility after fiscal analysis. The facility might be converted into an ICE detention center.

What changed over the last month or so? We were at $50! I was optimistic that Dan was turning around our firm post layoff and new strategy. Our net add and cash flow numbers were impressive and further OpEx reductions + stock buy backs + dividends was meant to turbo charge our stock to ~$72. What happened? What changed? Does the street know something that we don't?

Ever since the Pandemic, this place has been horrible. I am finding it financially impossible to do my job. 100% travel here and they moved my home office to a city 20 miles away. Thats 40 miles per day I’m not getting paid. With gas prices $5 per gallon, it’s becoming impossible to do. I get an 2% raise per year if I’m lucky where in the past 3.8% was the norm. All they talk about is “cutting costs” yet BM lives in NY and commutes to Charlotte. I’ve been through 6 management changes in the past 4 years alone. It’s been micro-aggression after micro-aggression. HR is essentially outsourced in most decisions and they work in call centers in India to give you incorrect information. They are leaning full-in on AI and there is no room for advancement except to be a Merrill salesperson that is 100% commission. There are no jobs. I’m so sad at what has become of this place.
