Run FAs

Take your books and go small / independent while you can. HO will say the AI tools are to help you but they are studying you and will automate you. They watch your habits and clients closely and are making FA agents now. They will squeeze the ranks, push you into team offices, make you use AI, build client relationship with the team generally over you personally, and push you out gradually. They think a new hire with AI can do your job for much less pay. That’s the plan.

Layoff running totals based on Slack

Tracking participants count #general Slack channel in Oracle One workspace, as the fastest available proxy indication of ongoing layoffs.

  • may01-may31: 2241 reductions, and 942 additions
  • apr01-apr30: 2286 reductions, and 1583 additions
  • mar01-mar31: 12446 reductions, and 844 additions
  • feb01-feb28: 943 reductions, and 1143 additions
  • jan01-jan31: 1604 reductions, and 1834 additions
  • dec01-dec31: 1031 reductions, and 844 additions
  • nov01-nov30: 1614 reductions, and 1327 additions
  • oct01-oct31: 2504 reductions, 1762 additions
  • sep02-sep30: 6275 reductions, 861 additions
  • aug14-sep01: 733 reductions (based on Slack very few data points)
  • aug01-aug14: ?2900 reductions in IDC (based on media reports)

Regions outside IDC and NA usually have a significant delay when laid off people are disconnected from Slack (e.g. 1 month in Pacific regions, perhaps longer in some EU countries), so this is a floor estimate with additions reflected immediately, but reductions lagging behind on average.

What is called "layoff estimates" are partially part of normal attrition, limitations are covered in details in comments.

I will post daily in comments on the count change and running current month total while this post is still on the first page.

It's all about the execs pay and share price

Companies are no longer here for the good of their staff. It's all about the execs pay and share price. It's all illusion and spin. Everyone for themselves.

Sadly, this is how things are now and people need to accept it. Whenever I see posts that bemoan how the leadership doesn't care about us, I just shake my head. Of course they don't. They care about money. And they get more money by sc--wing the rest of us over. That's our new reality and people should accept it if they don't want to drive themselves crazy thinking how those at the top should "care about us." That's a child's way of thinking.

PSA: you need clients to run a business

It always amazes me how cr-ppy I fiserv treats their clients. Bad pricing, strong arming negotiations because they are fortune 500 company and it’s hard deconvert , and allowing people with little regard to how they impact that client and even the economy, the slightest increase are passed down to its card holders, but sometimes the increase that Fiserv gives are really high and then question why people make drastic decisions to choose other vendors leave like if they’re the only ones that offer this service… maybe yes it’s hard to leave but once they get to leave, they are leaving. Like stop putting your profits over clients - stop putting your profits over employees and maybe and just maybe your stock will make it over $70. Should be ashamed of themselves. This is what happens when you merge with a sh-t company, place the same sh-t company leaders in high positions after the merger and wonder why it’s going to sh-t. Change your leadership.. change your culture.

PacificSource Health Plans Layoffs in Portland

PacificSource Health Plans announced it will lay off 97 Oregon employees by July 31 as the nonprofit insurer scales back operations following its decision to exit Affordable Care Act marketplace plans in Oregon, Idaho, and Montana after 2026. Company officials said the cuts are necessary to align staffing with a smaller business footprint amid mounting financial and industry pressures. The changes will affect roughly 60,000 members who will need new coverage next year and come as Oregon's health insurance market undergoes significant consolidation and enrollment declines.

4K Laif of in Tennessee

More than 4,000 working Tennesseans have been affected by layoffs or business closures at the halfway point of 2026.

The latest WARN notices posted by the state involve two Middle Tennessee companies. Those notices, posted this week, affect more than 250 workers.

Compared with the same period last year, the number of Tennesseans affected by layoffs or closures is nearly the same. From January 21 to May 30 of last year, more than 4,200 workers were affected. This year, from January through yesterday, more than 4,000 workers have lost their jobs.

In Knox County, more than 200 workers have been affected since January. That includes layoffs at Premier Building Maintenance Corporation in February and the closure of McKay’s Books earlier this month.

Kellogg Omaha plant is closing very soon...

They are laying off everyone and are selling the property.

People have less money to spend and branded products tend to be hit more than others. People there were well paid and had good benefits (Unionized) so it's a fairly big for the community.

WK Kellogg Co. is moving ahead with the permanent closure of its Omaha, Nebraska, cereal facility, with hundreds of employees expected to lose their jobs in phases this summer.

Continuelayoff

A full year of continuous layoffs is something rarely seen at this scale. Many companies underestimated the value of experienced employees and overestimated AI’s ability to replace them. The biggest mistake is believing technology alone can replace knowledge, judgment, and human expertise.

More layoffs?

Is it true that we might have more layoffs this year or next? I heard that automatic robots are coming to the distribution centers and more jobs going to South America and India are still going down. A high hat in ops. heard it from one of the bosses in securety when he helped him with a violent person problem in his market and then told my boss. He said he told him he is asking for a bigger team . Is that for real or did my boss not understand it right? My boss is always right on what he hears. I’m stressing. Are any of you hearing the same?

AI-Driven Layoffs: A Costly CEO Mistake

Laying off skilled employees just because of AI may become one of the biggest mistakes made by many CEOs. AI is a tool, not a complete replacement for human expertise. Companies that remove experienced workers too quickly risk losing knowledge, innovation, quality, and customer trust while facing growing AI costs and mistakes. The smartest strategy is to use AI to support employees, not replace them entirely.

Layoffs still happening...

Well so much for the change in posture with new "leadershits" as folks are still randomly getting tagged and Rif'd. No news, no word, just the same old quiet layoffs to help bolster someone's 10 Mil stock target as a reality and not a bad dream. Exit while you can.

Rock the BOET?

Any insight on what's cooking?

Pretty clear that there is no need for Project Managers anymore, and that they are rapidly phased out, together with the Portfolio Manager level of directors.

Feels like the operations side will be on the front burner, with focus on finding areas that can be made more efficient (i.e., layoffs).
