Is there a difference if the meeting is scheduled with HR alone versus HR + a MGR (like if it means laid off versus moving to different org)?
Laid off today
Alright guys I’ll give y’all a real post. I was an SM in wealth and got laid off today. I know you guys like to hate on SM’s but seems like a lot of us got hit. Meeting was put on my calendar super early this morning as a 1-1 without any context. Been here for 10+ years and for severance I got 6 months, prorated bonus, PTO paid to cash, and shares cashed. My manager was visibly shaken up and was like a robot reading off a script just emotionless and monotone which was very unusual. Was told to take the rest of the day off and don’t bother coming into the office through the end of the month which is my last day.
It su-ks but I was already interviewing elsewhere which I’m stoked about the severance and all the payouts.
For those affected, just know you are not alone and this is just how “at will employment” works. I hope you all bounce back quick and enjoy a little time off to recoup. Or at best find another job and enjoy the dual income.
Younger getting laid off
G6,5,4 - majority are youngsters getting laid off. Runway if you are young this is a company for dinosaurs
The LAST place anyone
That just got notified they were laid off would be
On here. Sorry it’s a bunch of lying trolls in the real world they’d be figuring out insurance and severance and contacting family.
RIFs
I don’t get why there are so many trolls here. Why would someone in their right mind share their name, supervisor, or personal information just to prove whether something is real or not? Why risk jeopardizing their severance or employment situation just to satisfy random people online?
To the trolls, please stop. People’s lives are being impacted here. If these reports are true and people are seriously being affected, I genuinely wish you all the best. No one wants to lose their job.
How many are getting laid off today? Does anyone know the number?
I’ve heard 5000 and I’ve heard 10,000.
Protected PTO - Corporate cost savings
I was RIFd yesterday, and I see that severance only pays out unused regular PTO, not protected PTO.
They really pushed employees to NOT use protected PTO as it is meant for illness and other unintended absence. I had built up quite a bit of it, and used regular PTO almost always.
Now I’m thinking the reconfiguration of PTO was more about cost savings than anything else. I was not aware that protected PTO would be forfeited or I would have used that first and foremost.
Very sneaky move Medtronic.
G8 to G7 or layoff
SLs and Architects who are in G8s are asked to take up G7 roles or are they are getting fired ?

I'm the oil and gas reporter, trying to keep an eye on how many people might be affected.
So it begins
Rumors here in the tower is that the layoffs have begun. Seen couple folks packing up and being escorted out by security.
May 7 RIF is REAL
I know of three people in GNC that have been informed that they are impacted. It's real and it's happening today. I am in GNC, and not a bot or a troll. Been at VZ for 20+ years.
Issuer Solutions Townhall
They’re openly patting themselves on the back about plans to reduce workforce by 65%
Posting here is Not a priority
Believe it or not, for those that are impacted today, coming to this site and sharing the news is not a priority. They are going through an emotional roller coaster, need to inform their families, etc. so just because people aren’t posting here, doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
Calm Down
Most of these layoff posts are some type of sadists.I dont see anything happening in the office
CSS Brokerage RIF
Has anyone heard if CSS in brokerage is being impacted? If so, do you know what sites? I’d like to think not as they just told us RTO is coming and I don’t see how an immediate RIF makes sense when it’s clear they want to see people quit rather than RTO. It’s also a client facing inbound role for managed accounts. But, with all the changes the last couple years aimed at attrition and seemingly preparing for this moment, who knows…
Side question, if someone is laid off and has unvested shares, do they pay those out to any degree?
unscheduled meeting at 8:30
Got laid off.
Watch for May 14, Thursday early morning Manager’s meeting Invites
That’s how LR happen… share people.
Share what you know as Cisco is not sharing any LR news.
If you know something, say something and share with others.
Anybody in Cary get notified?
Anybody?
This is hard
One of the most difficult things about layoff days is hoping its one of your team members and not you. Some of us like the people on our team and wanting one of them to be impacted instead of yourself is a special kind of he-l. It feels selfish and awful but you know it will be so much worse if you are the one to get the call. Then you have survivors guilt.
Layoffs Happening In My Group
Wasn't just rumors for the group I'm in. Teams is full of people sharing what time their calendar invite that just came in is for with HR + some leader. Everyone promising to give each other recommendations if needed, posting personal emails and phone numbers just in case, etc.
Don't know the count yet. Waiting to see if/what time my meeting will be. Bad vibes for sure.
The rumors weren't wrong for everyone.
Quiet layoffs
UBS has been quietly laying off people starting Mar-2026. Rumor is that another big list is coming in later may and june 2026.
Case Management
Any word on if Case Mgmet will be impacted?
Can we please be honest here and let us know if it's actually happening today?
I saw tons of writing on the wall the past two weeks that made me think I'm going, but the post from someone saying they made the whole thing up has me second guessing myself now.
If you're impacted, please let us know. And if you're trolling, this is people's livelihood. Please, not today...

The University of North Texas approved buyouts for 40 faculty members. This action aims to save up to $4.7 million. The university faces a projected $45 million budget shortfall. I finally got my lump sum after 9 months of fighting.
I was told by alight that I canceled my retirement last year when I was piped out. I took the pil in july or august last year. I was NRE but knew I was doomed so I left on my own. I got 3 months pay and left asap. I was classified as a terminee because I wasn't 55. I had to wait 90 days to get my lump sum. I turned in the paper work and waited. I got no notification about my status from alight so I called. They said I had canceled my retirement and the lump sum option was not available any more. I filled an appeal and it took a few weeks to get it approved. I faxed and mailed my paperwork to alight. I called and alight rejected my forms because of ilegible dates by the notary. You have to have a notary sign and stamp the spousal consent. Ok round three and I send off the paperwork again. This time alight rejected it because the notary seal was distorted. Now the final attempt and I thought alight was just trying to tire me out so I would just choose the annuity. I meticulously signed the forms and made sure the notary did the same. I hand delivered the paperwork to the woodlands office of alight and turned them into some one at the front desk. The main problem is that it takes several weeks for alight to process the forms and their website is terrible. It says processing for the longest time and then at once says rejected. Once rejected you have to start the process all over waiting for them to mail new paper work. Another stupid thing was all my correspondence was going to my work email which I had no access to. Finally I got my approval and my check. I actually got a few more thousand dollars because my retirement was postponed by a few months. It was a real pain in th a ss kind of like exxon forms and approvals.

Please, I beg of you God, cut all the 1999-2000 dot-com bo-m hires tomorrow.
These people keep getting spared every layoff and they're the ones at the water cooler, long overdue for retirement. They are good at showing up on time in a crisply ironed shirt with a positive attitude, much like the old IBMers. But as far as carrying the load when half the team gets axed (strictly according to their manager's own specific preferences and prejudices), the work output won't scale accordingly. They have one speed. The speed of every telephone company. Because every telephone company is comprised of them.
How many laid off in recent round?
Looks like they’ve done it again… kicking hard working people out :(
