Wondering if thelayoff.com receives money for removing content Schwab might find offensive.

Charles Schwab and his wife Helen attended the White House Dinner - the special guest was Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

Questions regarding the appropriateness of Charles R. Schwab - who continues to represent and lead the company in his capacity of Co-Director of the Charles Schwab Corporation - attending this particular event are legitimate and not inflammatory.

So the question is why thelayoff.com removed the earlier postings regarding this topic.

Here come the Bobs

So I had cause to re-watch Office Space over the weekend. The studio released this movie in 1999. It focuses on the corporate absurdities that permeated cubicle life in the late 1990s, with the lead-up to Y2K as a backdrop.

I’ve seen the movie countless times and still find the story of the Bobs—two consultants hired to reduce headcount—hysterical, although the last seven years of hired consultants and annual layoffs is a bit too much art imitating life.

What struck me this time was a throwaway line I hadn’t noticed before. The main characters work for a company named Initech—which, they explain, is a made-up word created by smashing innovation and technology together. Sound familiar?

So the “innovative” naming that made us all Solvers became part of cinematic history over 25 years ago. Make no mistake, folks: these leaders of ours are not bringing anything new. We talk about AI and the positions it will eliminate, but with this crew of senior leaders, we could replace them with a Magic 8-Ball that simply says, “Hire consultants and restructure.” That seems to be their cure for anything that ails us.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

REPOST: Twas The Night Before RIFmas

Twas the night before RIF-mas, and all through the store, not a salesman was selling, not one through the door. The severance was printed by HR with care, in hopes that the shareholders soon would be there.
The "V-Team" was nestled all stressed in their beds, while visions of metrics danced in their heads; And supervisors anxious, and I in my cap, had just settled down for a restless, short nap,
When out on the network, there rose such a clatter, I sprang from my laptop to see what was the matter. Away to my Outlook I flew like a flash, to see who was cut to save corporate cash.
The glow of the monitor on the newly fallen snow gave a lustre of panic to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a mass email sent at the end of the year,
With a little old driver, so lively and grand, I knew in a moment 'twas the boss of the Brand. More rapid than 5G his notices came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Retail! Now, Network! Now, Admin and Billing! On, Tech Ops! on, Support! The numbers are chilling! To the end of the quarter! To the side of the wall! Now slash away! Slash away! Slash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with a budget, they mount to the sky; So up to the C-Suite the profits they flew, With a sleigh full of bonuses, and dividends too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the call the prancing and pawing of the Town Hall. As I drew in my head and was turning around, the reduction in force came down with a bound.
He was dressed all in suits, from his head to his foot, and his reputation was covered with ashes and soot; A bundle of pink slips he had flung on his back, and he looked like a reaper just opening his pack.
His eyes—how they shifted! His dimples, how scary! His outlook was bullish, his logic was airy! He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, and fired the veterans; then turned with a je-k,
And laying a finger aside of his nose, And hitting "Reply All," up the stock market rose; He sprang to his limo, to his board gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight— "Happy RIF-mas to all, and to all a good night!"

How bad company has become under new Mckinsey CIO

It has become prisoners of Mckinsey. Mck folks have more info than employee. on an average there is 1 (employee) to 10 McK person in meetings.. think if McK people charge 400 an hr. how much they are minting. I am sure Mr CIO gets the kickback. This company is going to go down.

Vena's ego

Seems like this merger is only to satisfy Vena's ego. He knows he has to fire people and he is still making lifetime employment deals with the unions. He just wants to get this merger through to be recognized as "the first person who connected both coasts with rail". He will then quit like Boris Johnson had to quit after Brexit. He will be known, but at what cost?

Dan and his crew are fear mongers themselves.

Across my career, leadership has pulled the same tired scare tactics… threatening people with unemployment, dangling PIPs, and handing out code-of-conduct write-ups like candy. It’s always the same script: intimidate the workforce and hope fear keeps everyone quiet.

Then Dan strolls in and casually tosses out ‘layoffs’ like it’s his fun fact of the day. Another pressure play. Another attempt to make people sweat.

Well, on behalf of every corporate employee who’s done being toyed with: Dan, you can’t threaten us with a good time. I’m not lurking on this forum because I’m scared of losing my job. I’m here waiting on my check. And honestly? Even if you don’t lay me off, I’m out the door after my FMLA anyway.

Dan and his brand (a special poem)

Dan sits high in the tower of glass,
Counting figures, trimming mass.
A whisper travels down the line
“Another round… this time it’s mine.”

He speaks of progress, polished and clean,
Of AI’s future and a workforce unseen.
Two years back he warned the crowd,
“It will leave many jobless,” he said out loud.
Now here he stands, the prophecy man,
Not stopping the storm..he is the plan.

People who built the network’s frame,
Names and faces..now numbers, just the same.
Their keycards flicker, the screens go black,
But profits rise, and no one looks back

Dan calls it efficiency, a modern shift,
But to those he cuts, it’s a stolen gift..
Security, dignity, years of sweat,
All erased in a corporate reset.

And when the machines finally hum in place
Where voices once filled a bustling space,
Maybe Dan will stand alone and see
That progress without people is poverty.

For a workforce falls not loud, but quietly
In email threads, and HR calls,
While a man in a tower signs and enthralls.

History won’t ask about stock or demand,
But who remembered the hands that built the brand.
And someday, far beyond Verizon’s span,
They’ll tell the story of a man named Dan
Who knew AI would hollow the land…
And led the march of the unemployed band

Net earnings of $19b isn't enough?

It's all about bumping the stock so the execs get their "rewards"

Given hatchet man has been on the board for 7yrs he deserves as much "credit" for the stupid cr-p that's gone on than anybody.

Now he comes to save the day? It's all about the Benjamins, hatchet and his buddies will make serious bank while many people have their lives close to being ruined.

Good luck to all getting the "hatchet" on Thursday.

CEO takes bad loans for board

..cant pay them back.
Lays off 600+ so far to print artificial money.
Outsources IT to TCS with sub-par knowledge, skillsets, and abilities.
The organization eats the people that made it great, rewards and protects thr managerial, director, and vp branches. - hires a buzzword artist that has ties to Indian based TCS.. and guts the company just like he did at Shell.
The bowl is swirling.
Firesale is imminent.
Wouldn't doubt there being a SEC investigation or two in the future.

it all makes sense now

Haskers mentor was Dave Calhoun (look it up they worked with eachother at Nielsen). You know the guy who got grilled in senate hearing because Boeing planes were falling out of the sky. Dave and the infamous Jack Welch worked with eachother at GE and people consider him to be jacks protégée. Jack Welch invented stacked ranking and cutting bottom 10% and was infamous for layoffs at GE. It all makes sense now. This dump isn’t just typical corporate but what makes it worse is the CEO is manufactured by psychos and outdated practices.

Blessing in disguise?

Layoffs?!? Layoffs?!? That’s impossible. I was told by reliable sources at the corporate update that no layoffs were “planned.” Crazy coincidence the layoffs that were not planned just happen to have occurred the week after the Impact roadshow. What are the odds? To be fair to Rick though technically he wasn’t lying. True Layoffs only come from the Layoff region in France. All other layoffs are just sparkling white Reorgs. Seriously, though good luck to those affected. It’s a blessing in disguise.

Chaos, confusion, and a corporate bingo card

Fresh off the all-hands meeting, where leadership proudly told us everything is “record-breaking, absolutely historic, folks”, the company rolled out a restructuring plan so wild it should come with a safety label.

They’re desperately trying to fix what even duct tape, prayer, and three consultants named Kramshi, Vamshi and Bamshi couldn’t fix. And then, of course, the master stroke: shifting jobs to India because someone read a PowerPoint that said “globalization = savings” in big sparkly letters. Brilliant! Truly next-level thinking. Never mind that they understand the local culture about as well as they understand their own product roadmap. They probably think the caste system is just an optional settings menu you can turn off. Brilliant!

I’m sure nothing says “operational excellence” like replacing entire teams overnight and hoping the universe sorts it out. Really incredible work, if the goal is chaos, confusion, and a corporate bingo card full of terrible ideas.

Tremendous work! S'more Popcorn Please!

Amazon’s Layoffs Are Business as Usual, Not Omens of AI Doom

The recent round of Amazon corporate layoffs isn’t a sign of an imminent AI apocalypse. It's an expression of the company's brutal corporate culture, enabled by its use of the H-1B visa program.

SAP Is Showing Clear Signs of Decline - A Tough Reality for Those Who Gave It Years of Their Lives

It’s disheartening to see the direction SAP is heading. Having been part of this company for so long, it’s painful to witness the current layoffs and the uncertainty many colleagues are facing. At the same time, I’ve learned that HRBPs from across the globe are flying to Germany for a week-long in-person meeting which could easily cost around 200k$
In moments like these, it’s fair to question whether such travel is truly necessary. Could these costs have supported a few more roles or extended employment for impacted staff? Many of us on the engineering side feel the weight of these decisions deeply we continue to build and innovate while wondering. We engineers are building the company and the HR and the support functions are enjoying it. Does board leaders have become so week to not even as these questions to HR Leader and the CFO who is making these hasty decisions
I hope leadership reflects on these choices with transparency, empathy, and financial prudence. Strong, people-first decision-making is more important now than ever.
Do the board leaders have become so week to not even as these questions to HR Leader and the CFO who is making these hasty decisions?
SAP has become #AntiImmigrant #AntiEmployee

Look up narcissist in the dictionary: it is a picure of BTH

Narcissism is the only explanation for sending weekly videos of yourself in a sleeveless workout shirt to the entire CX org. I'm guessing he thinks it makes him "cool" or impresses us that he's outside, but really it's hard for us to imagine having no self-cringe-radar. The cost of PC replacements in CX must be enormous, cause I want to smash my computer every Saturday when he sends the video over. Each Monday I just hope that my face is not locked into a permacringe stance because I don't want customers to have to feel my pain. Andy, please help CX because this is the most feckless leader I've encountered in my career.

Whatg is going on with these lawsuits?

It appears many people are calling attention to Broadcom’s history and its catastrophic business model, which they say relies on monopolistic tactics and has led to multiple lawsuits. Critics also highlight the destruction of American job. Thousands lost in less than five years.

https://cloudinfra.blog/the-broadcom-vmware-saga-acquisition-turbulence-talent-drain-and-the-rise-of-alternatives-in-2025/

Nutanix on the brink?

What is happening with this layoff cycle? Very highly skilled employees were gone. It feels this has become another Vmware.

Are we getting prepared for a takeover just like how Broadcom destroyed Vmwareand laid off 19 THOUNSANDS employees?

We are getting squeezed by new small startups due to corporate failures.

There will be 2 Rounds of Layoffs

Believe it or not. But the upcoming layoffs on november 20th is just the first round. The company is still planning to finish q4 sales strong, so they aren’t intending to hit front line workers hard at first. Expect the second round around late Q1 2026 5k-10k layoffs. These numbers will be determined by how the business has performed post the Nov cuts.

Dont get too complacent, this is just the way of life now in corporate america. With the age of AI & the current economy, cutting cost is the first prio to companies. Stay strong & work hard, everyone is replaceable & no one is entitled to having a job if you’re not contributing enough value.

Who cares about WF, move on.

Corporate America, including Wells Fargo has been nothing but a source of wealth for the CEOs and executives. They don’t give a cr-p about any of the worker bees who make their salaries and bonuses possible go rake go rough a house go build something do something meaningful with your life because the corporate life will do nothing but drag you down and lower your morale

Sad

The reality is what Verizon is doing is pretty messed up they are laying people off because they realized hiking pricing and relying on networks doesn’t work, so they layoff 15k people to make up for the losses. Well who do you think made those decisions it was the people at the top. Employees needed to speak out and walk out. People are scared and don’t say nothing but look at the end result!! So if people act out and be disruptive I fully understand. They fire people before the holidays speaks to fu-k the employees

Too much going wrong with SAP

I had been lurking on this site for a while and decided to post today because I couldn't handle it any longer.

As a long-term SAP employee, I can no longer identify with the organization. We've always had reorganizations and layoffs, but I've never seen the Board and HR be so anti-employee and put employees against one another.

Here are some trends I am noticing:

There is no MOVE SAP for T1-T3 personnel.
Annual salary appraisals are not even close to inflation, thus we lose money each year.
HR-focused managers instead of development managers.
Hiring freeze.
Travel freeze.
Rumors regarding closing locations other than Walldorf and St Leon Rot.
Replacement positions only in low-cost areas.
Anti-migrant sentiment.
Board compensation increasing dramatically each year.
Almost every German employment is offered solely in Walldorf and St Leon Rot.
Performance management is a reasonable approach to pay employees less.
No more catalyst or comparable schemes.
AI-first strategy, but showing no business development.
Organizational restructuring, such as HPOM, is built on influencer propaganda.
The stock price has plummeted.
Board says regular layoffs are non-negotiable without giving a good reason.
Stupid AI replacing important support, QA, IT and development functions instead of HR.
Employees coerced into giving their managers spectacular unfiltered reviews or forego salary increments.
Share buybacks.
Budget available for executive travel and entertainment but not development.
Stupid online courses instead of career focused learning by human experts.
Legal troubles.
Acquisition after acquisition without integration of acquired employees.
Only the same people getting the big jobs and promotions everywhere at SAP while others haven't found a new position in years.
You have to be a balding German white male based near Heidelberg to land a good management position.
Anti-women sentiment.
Executives openly making derogatory statements without any consequences - equating life altering career changes to brushing teeth.
CEO having no foresight or long-term plan to improve company and instead blatantly lying about things like "we'll create new 15000 positions in India" only to follow with layoffs everywhere.
Managers given so much power that it is more important to keep your managers happy than your customers happy.
Reduction in benefits.
Anti Muslim sentiment.
Week long party budget in some areas (Signavio) while other areas suffer and don't even have budget to hire development consultants.
Too many HR employees who in turn say we have too many QAs, developers, product managers, designers, etc.
Fake career progression plans as the only way to grow is to find another job.
Too many "innovation teams" that create stuff shown at Sapphire but it never makes it into production.

I can go on and on but this is already a long list.

What do you think? Do you share a similar sentiment? Do you agree or disagree with any of the items listed here? Having a good stable job without politicking seems almost hopeless at SAP.

In the past, points like these were enough to fire board members. But now the transfer of wealth and power from employees to executives is normalized. What can employees do to get back power and ensure a stable career at SAP?

Make America Great Again

Whatever happened to make America great again??? 15k Vzw coworkers lives will change come next week. Corporate America greed wins again. I’m here refreshing this website to see if anything new comes up. I’m paranoid , I can’t sleep , what happened to the big tax break these corporations got from trump ?? That’s still not enough ???

When Expertise Gets Replaced By Discounts

I am a biomedical engineer with multiple master's degrees and 25+ years of experience in the field. I even studied FDA regulations at a law school. I have written thousands of engineering documents for FDA compliance many times at different medical device companies. But Medtronic sent my job to India.

Since I do have 25+ years of experience, when a company in a regulated industry sends its work to India, the quality of compliance engineering usually drops. I worked at one firm where the medical device company sent its requirements documentation to India to save money. After about a year, it wasn't working out at all. So, an American-based team in Miami with principal-level engineers had to rewrite it from scratch. I predict this is happening right now for Medtronic. But those VPs overrule it. I know there were mid-level directors who foresaw that as a big risk. Some of them left or just got laid off.

So, why does that happen - the drop in quality of engineering compliance? Usually, it's a variety of factors like time zone difference, culture gap, extreme distance, challenges for English as a 2nd language, and lack of experience. Given the "woke" culture, if an engineer brings up the issue of "English as a 2nd language" then someone usually pulls the race card rather than deal with it. I've seen that happen multiple times with offshore teams. Rather than admit their writing su-ks, they'll just yell racism in a variety of ways. BTW - I am a bilingual speaker of English and another language as a minority engineer. So, I know when someone struggles with English as a 2nd language. It's common with offshore teams. Are there exceptions? Sure. But it would be naive to assume the cluster doesn't exist.

But I'm having great fun doing research on AI for medical imaging. I work with a group affiliated with the Mayo Clinic over in Rochester. I gave up on the medical device industry and work in finance now. But I still do academic research outside of work with medical imaging and AI. It's very rewarding - no ugly corporate politics and no offshoring. I had a meeting with two principal scientists today to discuss fMRI and DTI data processing. The research of AI and medical imaging is fascinating. One can still enjoy such research without dealing with the corporate nightmares of the medical device industry.

BTW - be sure to lookout for that FDA Audit Inspector when that offshore team has to show its documentation for compliance engineering. I doubt they can make the cut. I've seen it fail multiple times.

Dan - what would your mother say?

“My grandfather was a union organizer in the garment district in New York City. My mother took me to a civil rights demonstration in Washington in my stroller”

What a fu--ing charlatan. Everyone around this a--hole is su-king up to him to keep their jobs. This was some low level account executive without a comp sci background just a month ago telling us the wonders of AI he’s exposed to cause he sees pre-release models. What would this fool be able to discern? Charlatans of Silicon Valley jingling keys in front of a boomer toddler. Ask grandpa if he can convert to PDF or if he needs perplexity to do that for him. Funniest thing about this farce is him talking about being scrappy and then going in hiring his buddy from Columbia who did a sh-t job there against the Trump admin.

I wish the best of luck to everyone impacted

My heart goes out to all who’ve been affected so far. Synopsys employee here, and it seems like Ansys folks have been hit especially hard, at least based on what we’d heard before this round. That’s really unfair, since I know quite a few people from that side who were skilled, dedicated, and genuinely great at what they did. I can only assume performance and experience weren’t major factors. Remember, these are corporate cost-cutting decisions. They almost never reflect our true professional value or potential.

“ not taking any actions” game

One of the things I really miss about corporate life is playing the “which, if you’re unfamiliar with it, is where you go to meetings with the express intent of taking zero actions whatsoever. And if you’re thinking, what is this corporate lingo, then an action is something that you actually have to do. And you might think, “Well, isn’t that the whole point of work, that you actually get stuff done?” To which I would say, “No, foolishness!” You’re too busy attending meetings at which you’re avoiding actions to actually have time to do anything.

So how do you avoid taking any actions? Well, you might think, maybe just don’t show up to the meeting, which would be a terrible strategy, because then the people at the meeting will give you all of the actions, and you hear about it later. So that’s a rookie mistake. There are a variety of strategies for avoiding taking actions, one of which is to just remain perfectly still. This is the Jurassic Park approach. You hope that if you just don’t move, the dinosaur won’t see you, like this. But sadly, the dinosaurs often do spot you, so it’s not a good strategy.

A much better strategy is to constantly be positive in meetings and compliment people, saying things like, “That’s a really great idea!”, “I just wanted to double down on that point…”, “I completely agree!” or “Let me just build on that…”, because that gives people the impression that you’re contributing to the meeting without actually contributing anything.

There is a risk, though, that at some point an action will start to come your way. You need to spot that and head it off quite quickly. You do that by saying things like, “We’re just so busy right now,” or “My team just don’t have the bandwidth,” or even a kind of inferred threat where you say, “We’d have to deprioritize some of our strategically aligned work.” That usually stops them.

You might think that leaders of these meetings would get very frustrated with everybody avoiding taking actions, but they don’t, generally, because that’s how they got where they are, by being very good at giving the impression that they’re doing something whilst at the same time not actually doing anything whatsoever. And I know you’ve got this lingering suspicion: in that case, how does any work actually get done? Well, good question.

The answer is, you give it to somebody else to do. If you have budget, you lodge that with a third party, a vendor, who can actually do the doing, and then you take the credit for the doing. But if you don’t have budget, then you just kind of moan incessantly about not having sufficient budget. “My team doesn’t have enough budget.” “We just don’t have the budget to get anything done this year.” That ensures that you can continue attending meetings where you avoid taking any actions but nevertheless give the impression that you’re actually doing work.

A Late Fall Tradition

It is late fall in the United States. The leaves are changing, and the air has turned crisp. We begin to prepare for the holidays with family and friends. Christmas decorations come down from the shelves in the attic or garage. We make our homes—and sometimes our yards—festive, and we start our lists of gifts for loved ones. It is a magical time.

Oh… and Solventum begins its annual restructuring. It seems people are receiving their Christmas their pink slips from the water boy and his cronies today.

In ten minutes, we’ll get to hear how—with a little courage and some visionary leadership—we’re making the changes that will guarantee we stagger forward until the next layoff, which is in no way reassuring.

It’s official: Eliza is a propaganda tool

Looking at the feedback and followups from the flaccid ‘fireside chat’ meetings, you will see that Eliza was used to collate responses and determine what the outcomes were. There are bullets that spouted off management groomed responses. All you see is that all BNY working people are excited and thrilled with the direction of the company. Then Eliza somehow determined that people agree with the direction of management and our mission. Lastly, people felt the top level communication was very informative and appropriate.
Let that sink in and ask yourself, does anyone believe this speaks for the majority of people working here? Anyone?
It’s now official. Eliza is a lying BS tool that truly is artificial ‘intelligentsia’ at BNY’s elite management level. Not intelligence at all.

What truly caused this

The disaster that most everyone realized was coming is directly related to the hiring of executives, for lack of a better term, from Sweden, Ireland, India, and Canada. At least two have been under investigation of wrongdoing while being the head of other companies. The next part of the disaster is allowing HR to run the business with its innate stupidity. Another part of the mix is increasing prices and forcing someone within finance to manipulate the numbers by showing increased subscribers rather than terminations based upon the increase. Forcing out the knowledge base within the company. Offshoring customer service and everything else they could get their hands on. This CEO will do no better and the price increases will continue along with layoffs. When something this large is turned into such a mess, it will take a very long time to correct. One common theme that has existed for at least ten years is the executives do not want to hear the truth. Every negative is twisted, turned, and shined so the executives can continue to believe that they are the greatest.

This is from Wireless, but still very much true. OP is @f7+1k9q3zzfe.
