The question I have been asking myself for years

I used to think that liking your job was a normal expectation, something that most people could reasonably hope for. After spending so much time in this place, I am genuinely not sure anymore. Is there an assumption that we are all just supposed to tolerate our work and find our fulfillment elsewhere, or am I actually supposed to enjoy what I do for eight hours a day?

Job market is not that bad for us

Those of us who come from one of the major tech companies, like Cisco, are probably going to be fine when looking for a job. Recruiters still want us, and we'll land on our feet. The people who are really struggling right now are the ones from smaller companies, and it is brutal out there for them.

Is AT&T any better?

Has anybody here worked at AT&T? I might have a chance to make the switch, but reading through their page here makes it seem like I’d just be jumping from the frying pan into the fire. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone with firsthand experience before I make the decision.

Merry Xmas to all who got transferred to Cognizant

Under terms FIS is going to pay markup on existing salaries to Cognizant. The usual contract is for 6 months and 30 to 50% markup.

Around X-Mas time, 6 months contract time will be coming to an end. FIS will say bye bye to all of you.
Cognizant salaries are peanuts. The pay Senior Database Architect 120K max. In short, you will not find new project in Cognizant.
During 2026 holidays, Cognizant manager will send you a sweetly worded letter, telling you that your job is being shelved.

Thats why wishing you.. Merry X-mas.

Oracle further layoff analysis

Oracle has just scratched the surface with its 10% layoff and showed some positivity with its operational performance in layoff. Its operational performance is still weak.
Its trying to show the investors that it is high tech or growth stock. But it is not. Oracle has history of losses. Just market hype has increased and made it safe for now.
June earnings numbers will show it all

An internal corporate audit is in progress with new CFO and if she is really good there will be heavy cutdown of heads in upcoming qtr. Lots of products will be trashed.
Prepare for your best ... Jump the ship before its too late...

I wish I wasn't this stressed about my job

But I'm in a tough spot right now, and getting laid off would be devastating. I can't even think about looking elsewhere because life has been throwing one thing after another at me for months. The constant worry about work just makes everything worse. I'd love for things to be different, but they're not. I'm just hoping no big cuts happen until I get my head above water.

Are you prepared to be terminated?

8 years ago I realized terminations were not going to end any time soon. I began putting my financial house in order and expanding my skills. I wanted to ensure I would be able to support my family if I could no longer find employment in the technology sector. I've interviewed for positions I was very over qualified for and did not like what I was seeing. Everyone wants to pay near minimum wages regardless of skillsets and experience. Today I am far less concerned about being let go than I was back then. Anyone else made realistic preparations for their untimely exit?

🚨 WARNING: The Hidden Risks of Internal Surveys Responses Linked to Terminations/Layoffs 🚨

"Now that the latest Colleague Engagement Survey has closed, it is important to reflect on the strategy behind it. Evidence suggests that these 'colleague engagement' tools are increasingly being repurposed as diagnostic filters for layoffs.

• Treat Surveys as Legal Documents: Do not view these as 'safe spaces.' Anything you wrote can and will be used by an algorithm to assess your 'retention value.'

• Identify the Push: When leadership becomes obsessively focused on survey participation rates with multiple VPs and Directors badgering staff for 'opinions', it serves as a critical RED FLAG for an impending organizational 're-alignment,' signaling that they are gathering the necessary paper trail to justify a workforce reduction in the next 8–16 weeks. This predatory use of feedback doesn't just destroy morale; it marks a total collapse of corporate integrity, proving that the company views employee honesty as a liability to be exploited rather than a resource to be valued.

Linked in Posts

The Linked in posts all seem to follow this format. "After X years at Fidelity my role has been eliminated, but I am so grateful, humbled....blah blah for a couple of paragraphs... I've had the privilege...I never felt so valued...as a move on to my next chapter, I do so with immense gratitude and respect for everything that Fidelity stands for"

Then on the opposite spectrum I see recent graduates posting about how excited they are to share that they accepted an offer at Fidelity in some customer service role.

Is there some template that Fidelity is suggesting that people use?

It also feels like Fidelity does not want older people in the organization.

Do we think India contractors will be able to replace underwriters or asset managers?

I feel like it’s already happening….. They have the data entry part down for spreading financials. What would stop USB from telling them to also do write ups etc.?

It feels like the only professions untouchable by india is law, medical, and trades…..

Job restructuring/loss of jobs

Will anyone tell us please how long this job restructuring will affect this loss of jobs? Its like the company frozen? I am stuck in job reassignment for being burned out by the call center. No one has said anything. Im tired of the lapse of communication between upper management and us. If someone can anonymously say something here about when this job restructuring will end, please do. I cant take waiting anymore. Its like they want us to quitml.
