I have two job offers that I am considering, and one is from IBM consulting services. Great company but with so many of the big firms laying off by the 10’s of thousands, it gives me pause to accept the IBM offer.
Any insights about job stability?

For those who recently landed a new job:
I’m trying to get a realistic sense of today’s job market and learn from strategies that actually worked.

Have heard about old, clunky legacy systems that are complicated/messy, negative impacts of offshoring, disorganized teams, etc.

I am on a year long leave. I was just told my position was eliminated. Does this mean I am pretty much fired when my year off ends or does it mean I just go to a new department?
After reading another headline article on a big media website, it got me thinking about AI use here at COP. I wanted to take a poll of how or if AI has changed your job in any way. Who is and isn't using AI tools? What is the roadmap for implementing tools to make your day more efficient? Do you foresee any jobs at COP in O&G being lost due to upcoming AI tech?

A new Insuranceopedia analysis details the rising financial impact of tech layoffs. In 2026, losing a tech job costs workers an estimated $14,400 per month. This figure includes approximately $13,750 in salary and $625 for private health insurance. The monthly financial blow is 36% higher than in 2021 and 56% higher than a decade ago. A superyacht linked to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg arrived in Seattle. The vessel, named "Launchpad," drew crowds in South Lake Union. Its arrival followed Meta's announcement of 1,400 layoffs in Washington state. Some observers criticized the yacht's presence during this period. Others viewed the large vessel as a tourist attraction.

I'm looking for some assurance of safety, probably in vain. They always just keep coming back for more.
Don't get me wrong, it's still devastating for each of them, and I really feel for those affected. Every job loss hits a family, not just a person. But this wasn't the bloodbath everyone was expecting. Does this mean the big round is still ahead of us?
Will there be another layoff on the ambetter side of things? I work in the care management department and seen a couple people get laid off in the beginning of May , but I still feel uneasy in this LOB.
According to estimates, the move is part of a broader global round of cuts, with the Israeli operation expected to be affected as well. PayPal’s Israeli site currently employs between 200 and 250 workers, most of them data scientists and software engineers. In addition to cybersecurity systems, the local teams also develop core components of the company’s user experience and mobile applications.

Every week I hear about somebody new being let go. No announcement, no explanation, nothing. I've started getting near panic attacks because of it. I want to go back to the time when job security was an actual thing.
My experience so far hasn't been great, most places don’t even respond and the few that do say they already have way too many candidates for the same roles.
Anyone have scoop as to what KCC will mean for GO/GM jobs?
Phoenix has been a major hub for low-paid office jobs. These cubicle-based roles included customer service and data entry. Such jobs provided a path to the middle class for many workers. Now, offshoring and artificial intelligence are causing these jobs to disappear. Thousands of local workers in Phoenix face an uncertain employment future.

I’ve been thinking about searching elsewhere, but I wonder if this is just a sign of the times, or is Optum especially bad about having layoffs all the time? Will it really be better if I leave?

Can we go back to the time when we were able to focus on our work without having to worry about losing our jobs 24/7?

We will be no exception. Make sure you're prepared for when it happens, because this will be one situation when finding something new will be nearly impossible, with all the workers flooding the job market.
I started quiet quitting, and I remembered why I was doing my job in the first place. I went back to doing just my job, the work I was actually hired to do, because I was getting close to quitting over how overloaded I’d become. My plan was to quiet quit while I looked for something else.
Six months later, my energy is back, I’m actually interested in my work again, and I genuinely like what I’m doing. At the beginning there was some pushback, but I held the line with “I’m too busy” and “I’m doing my job,” and eventually people stopped bothering me about taking on more.
The funny part is that I don’t even want to leave anymore. Turns out a huge part of what was making me miserable was how much extra work I kept piling onto myself. Go figure.
My manager, who can't stand me for some reason, has been working overtime to find faults with my work, so I'm guessing there's a PIP in my future. In my last company, PIP meant you might as well leave right away. Is it the same here? Should I start looking for something else right away?
State Senator Michelle Hinchey proposed the AI Labor Information Act. This bill requires large New York employers to report AI-related job losses. Businesses with 50 or more employees would disclose positions replaced by AI. The proposal also tracks human work hours remaining after AI integration. The bill is currently advancing through legislative committees.

Many workers report being laid off, only to see similar roles reposted later. Employment attorney Chiquita Hall-Jackson calls this a "quiet repost" and sees it often. This practice can create significant legal exposure for employers, potentially leading to lawsuits. Workers should examine layoff demographics and document all workplace communications. Understanding legal rights during layoffs is crucial as job security evolves.

Im a new manager and have had no support since my onboarding. No training and no substantial time with my manager. With the exit of IFP, a chunk of my teams workload is gone.
I have no work during my day and thats not an exaggeration. I ask regularly for work and never receive any.
Has anyone experienced this? Is this a good indicator that job eliminations are on the way?
