Upcoming PDS cycle

Ready for another round?

Over 300 people have already left since the September 29 announcement, projects are scarce, meaningful work even scarcer and the long-term outlook for Canada couldn’t be clearer. Naturally, this seems like the perfect moment to proceed with the ranking cycle.

For those unfamiliar with the tradition: everyone gets ranked against colleagues worldwide, the curve must be filled and a pre-determined slice of the population will inevitably land in the “Needs Significant Improvement” category because nothing says modern leadership like deciding in advance how many underperformers you need.

From there the process is beautifully efficient: a helpful Performance Improvement Plan, a quiet exit and the reassurance that this isn’t a layoff just the system working exactly as designed.

Given the current morale and the steady stream of departures, the timing is almost poetic. If anything, the exercise should help clarify priorities for the few remaining optimists.

After all, when the future of the business in Canada looks this bright, someone will surely be eager to relocate to Edmonton and help keep the Strathcona refinery dream alive.

Executives leaving

Two of our executives have recently announced they are departing PNC. One is our Corporate Responsibility Officer and the other is our Chief Information Security Officer. Though we may never know the real reason they are leaving, I find it very ironic that they have both put in their notice shortly before the mandatory five day return to office takes affect.

They are two very highly respected Individuals and it’s sad to see them both leaving. Great talent write out the door.

Free at Last!

It's so incredibly wonderful to have finally exited this dumpster fire of a once great company. The air is fresher, the birds are singing, the flowers smell sweeter. The level of TIAA senior management incompetence, hypocrisy and corruptibility is matched only by that of our nation's current White House administration. No more ridiculous 3 day in office pseudo collaboration. No more glowing annual reviews and high praise that at bonus time still never translate to anything higher than a middle of the pack rating. No more televised circus side shows featuring the queen bee and her inner circle of high paid enablers (Are You Ready to Rock Charlotte!?). Let's see now how everything plays out as I try to get my retirement funds out of the company. There's a lot of great people that I'll truly miss. And no small amount of individuals that I most definitely will not.

Misery loves company.

Anytime someone offers advice on an exit strategy, its followed by trolling of “Thank you Mr. recruiter” or “thank you LinkedIn headhunter” . I think that most people at Citi enjoy the warmth blanket of group misery. Its easier to swallow and cope with and easier to sell to yourself if you can convince yourself and others that “there’s no use to even try”.

Don’t dare succeed at leaving Citi, that means that it IS possible and I have no excuse for not trying.

Just tons of Citi-philes out there that just can’t stand to hear about someone leaving and being better off. The selling of the lie that you’ll never make more money elsewhere is so predominant on this site speaks volumes to the fear factor some live under.

Be free or be a sheeple.

Exit plan bonus secured advice needed

Planning for exit: bonus secured. I have been secretly building business on side that has me financially where I want it to be. Now the planning which items should I take care of or be sure I take advantage of before I leave. Insurance wise I will take care of any benefits since I will be getting my own insurance such as annuals , dental work( not much) using my rewards I think I have some gift cards I can cash with points, wrap up any Ed Assist dues for the certification I am getting , help a friend here add to the list

Quitting AT&T

For people who quit T without a severance but have some pension, what are the things you need to take care of in your 2 week notice? Is it as simple as turning your badge, phone and laptop or are there any financial and documentation wise things you need to take care of in terms of 401K

This company is ruining my exit opportunities.

I have had on numerous occasions been looked at funny or questioned deeper because I stated I work at this company. On one occasion, I was told good luck getting a job outside of there, everyone hates UHG right now and will question your morals/values. I am at a loss for words. I am trying to leave this company ASAP, but I am not hearing back from anywhere.
