Is this true?

After reading so many posts on here about rankings I have realized that even though the rankings are a ridiculous practice that the company still needs them because we have so many people that don’t do anything of value for the company and they have to do a rankings system as justification for having so many pointless positions.
Also, the posts about losing execs makes perfect sense as a business to reduce waste especially at that level. Why do we have so many people in Houston when we can’t get enough people to work in the Permian/Delware? Use the extra money from reduced Houston employees to bring in quality employees where the company needs them.

When will the official announcement of a fourth round of layoffs be made? As part of streamlining management layers — for example, one manager per 20-person team — is it possible the cuts will focus only on management-level roles, without this reflecting on any individual’s performance?

What’s the latest on the MAC Services department in St. Louis? Is headcount growing or falling?

When I was a kid, my friends wanted to be race car drivers, astronauts, or doctors when they grew up. But I always wanted to be something like a Senior Specialist in MAC Services. Angling to get in on this department at some point, if it’s not too late, and hoping for some updates on reorgs, cuts, etc. Thanks for any info!

Here’s the important part… *Investors, CMS, and the state agencies sending billions of taxpayer dollars to Centene** should ask whether the work is actually disappearing or whether Centene is trading internal capability, institutional knowledge, and direct accountability for vendor dependency.

Why is Centene increasing vendor dependency at exactly the moment its execution risk is increasing? Why did Citi decide to do the opposite? Both are highly regulated industries. United Healthcare is also investing heavily internally and is quarters or years ahead of Centene in that regard.

Humana has laid off or lost 30k employees since 2021. That’s really all we needed to know.

We have gone so hard on the Guyana model while also cutting staff that we have totally lost the ability to operate. They like it so much that it is only a matter of time before they apply the model to downstream sites and Permian..

Did the hours for phone assistance get cut recently?

I dont understand why are they making cuts to the tech when they need us to do the work it's already been shown at the very least we are cheaper than the AI alternatives.

How's it looking on cuts?

We haven't had a single big layoff in a while. Now it's more of a rolling thing: trim this team one week, cancel that project the next, slice another department the following month. If you heard about the latest cuts and were surprised, then you haven't been paying attention.

Anybody hearing anything about supposed September cuts?

There is no actual reason that software development cannot be unionized and standardized. You could have real licensing exams to become a software developer. There is no real functional reason that this stack is better than that stack. A single stack could be standardized. Thus you could license this entire field. Licensed jobs provide more job security.

As for unionizing software development. Well the gaming industry is already doing so. If you think what we do here is more complicated than game development. Go make a video game. It’s high time software developers form a union. We are the perfect group for such a thing. We are not understood by our leadership. They do not listen to what we say. They do not allow us to make the system sturdy. Our stakeholders and purse strings holders do not respect us. We run, operate, and build on top of all the systems that run the company. Basically we are not allowed to actually practice our practice. Thus the only option is, we protect our practice through a union. Otherwise we let leadership continue to make cuts to software development headcount, and outsource or not. Then VZ’s systems just collapse. They’re already held together with sp-t and glue. The only way that VZ survives is if software developers are allowed to have a backbone and shape the companies systems. The only way that happens is if software developers collectively bargain against management.

Time and time again VZ has elected to cut doers and keep sayers. If you want this company to win. You have to organize the win. Period. No one is coming to save you.

Richard Crozier and Mohamed Noah appear to be competing for survival, with only one likely to remain. Mark O’Donovan is also reportedly at risk. With Marianne being pushed out, he may no longer have the protection he previously benefited from, and Troy is expected to take a hard line on the cuts.
