US EEOC-Report Anti-American Discrimination

Every day, American workers face discrimination simply because they’re American.
Laid off and told to train your replacement who is a guest worker visa holder or GCC employee? Passed over for promotions, excluded, or harassed just because you’re American?
That’s national origin discrimination. It’s illegal, and the EEOC is fighting back to protect workers of ALL races who are American.

Time off policy vesting schedule

Just wanted to check, will there be any more changes to the pto policy going forward? Is there a max limit on how many days can be used for a bereavement leave? Is there a vesting schedule for our bereavement days? Is it based on length of service? Do we accrue at different rates based on the relation of the family member (parent vs grandparent)?

Re the Laid off for H1B employee tradeoff

This is for folks who lost their jobs to a cheaper, younger drone in Frisco with an H1-B visa.

President Trump just signed a new executive order today regarding the timing of layoffs and H-1B visa hiring. Federal agencies are now directed to consider whether an H-1B sponsoring employer laid off similarly situated American workers during the previous year or plans to lay them off in the future.

Also...

The Labor Department has 30 DAYS to begin reviewing previously submitted H-1B Labor Condition Applications to determine whether action against sponsoring employers is warranted.

Think about the implications.

A company lays off thousands of American workers. Then turns around and says it needs H-1B workers. The government is now explicitly being told LOOK AT THE companies layoff patterns. This is exactly the question companies should have been forced to answer all along. I hate to say it, but this is a good and welcome decision from the President. I hope it doesn't get ki-led by injunctions from judges. (Who will NEVER lose their job to cheap foreign labor willing to relocate from some 3rd world shirthole to Frisco, Texas because it's a step up.

Disney Enforces Strict Return-to-Office Policy

The Walt Disney Company is reportedly demanding that some remote tech and product employees return to the office four days a week. Those who do not comply with this mandate may face termination. This policy is not new, as Disney announced a similar requirement in March 2023. The current enforcement appears to be targeting employees who have remained fully remote. This move comes as the company emphasizes the importance of in-person collaboration for creativity and career development.

Lantern fml

I just got off the phone with lantern before a procedure I was gonna have done (removal of tumor) and they said I have to go through one of their providers-- that have less than 1% complication rate.

I never called because the card says "bariatric surgery required" now they wanna slow everything down and start the whole consult all over again delaying my procedure.

I dont know what to do, what is even the point of that- seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

H-1B Visa Rule Change to Remove 60 Day Grace Period

“
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are preparing to propose a rule that would eliminate an existing grace period for visa holders who can't find a job, according to an unpublished document posted to the Federal Register.

Under current immigration laws, holders of certain visas, particularly H-1B visas, which are non-immigration visas that allow employers to sponsor skilled workers with Bachelor's degrees or higher, get a 60-day grace period to find a new job if they lose the employment tied to their visa.
The new rule proposal would eliminate that grace period, according to the document.

"This proposal restores a direct relationship between an alien’s nonimmigrant status and the specific employment or activity that formed the basis of his or her admission or grant of status in the United States and reduces administrative burden," the document reads.

A noncitizen would have to immediately leave the U.S. if no longer working for an employer linked to a visa status if the rule were to be implemented.

Theory X Management

U.S. Bank’s culture increasingly feels built around one assumption: employees cannot be trusted.

Track IP addresses because people might not be working where they say they are.

Crack down on medical accommodations because someone might be abusing the system.

Centralize / eliminate Business Resource Groups because employees might be spending too much time on work that doesn’t directly produce output.

That is Theory X management: assume the worst, increase control, reduce autonomy, monitor more closely.

The problem is that policies designed around the small percentage of employees who might abuse trust eventually punish the employees who earned it.

And once people realize they are being managed as potential problems instead of valued professionals, engagement dies very quickly.

You can force compliance.

You cannot surveil people into caring.

Badge Tracking goes live

Some teams may have already been subjective to for a few months this but official communications have surfaced the power apps In Office Insights portal.

Policy is 4 days in office.

Out of compliance may get disciplinary action, hit on performance rating, termination….

H1B scapegoat...

Why we keep blaming H1B when things do not work the way we want it to be. H1B is HERE to stay like it or Not! Corporations will always follow the money, any company who can do it cheaper will follow the money. It is too late for the golden age...Let's leave H1B alone and move forward. Worry about your Family, Loves ones and put food on the table for once!

Anti-Cronyism Policy Request

In organizational psychology, cronyism is directly linked to "ingratiation"—the practice of employees using flattery or sycophancy to win favors from a boss rather than performing high-quality work. The Proof: Peer-reviewed regression analysis indicates a massive positive correlation (β = 0.553, p < 0.001) between organizational cronyism and toxic ingratiation strategies. When an anti-cronyism policy is instituted and paired with objective, merit-based metrics, subsequent employee tracking shows a sharp decrease in sycophancy and a measurable rise in overall objective productivity.

Weight-loss medication coverage is changing
We want to let you know about a change to your prescription dr-g benefits. Effective October 1, 2026, medications prescribed for weight loss will no longer be covered under the Pepsico Employee Health Care Program or the PepsiCo Retiree Health Care Program (together, the"PepsiCo Plans").
Why we're making this change
Prescription weight-loss medications have become one of the fastest-growing costs in the PepsiCo Plans. Removing coverage for prescription weight-loss dr-gs enables us to maintain a healthcare program that is sustainable and affordable for all PepsiCo employees, while continuing to provide a comprehensive, high-value benefits package. At the same time, many commonly used weight-loss medications now have cash-pay affordability pathways that were not available previously to individual patients.

RTO not being enforced by Management

Is anyone’s office Management not enforcing RTO 5 days a week? My office, people come and go, no one ever works a full day, and bosses still let people work from home whenever they need to. Meanwhile I am in there everyday working a full day, full time schedule. WTF is going on with this company??? Total joke of a place. I heard some managers definitely not enforcing this new policy.

Fidelity RIF, Unpaid Share Awards & the "Active on Dec 31" Clause

I checked the Q2 2026 NAV, and for those of us impacted by the May RIF, it's not being applied to calculate share payouts at all. It looks like nothing is being paid out post Q1. If that's accurate, years of earned compensation is just... not being paid.

I want to call out something I think is genuinely unethical about how Fidelity is handling this. Over the past several years, instead of raising base compensation, Fidelity leaned on share awards as the reward for performance. Grants from 2-3 years back that were supposed to vest and pay out over time. I put in the work to earn those.

And here's the part that really gets me: there's a clause that says you have to be actively employed on Dec 31 of a given year for those shares to pay out. Fine, maybe that makes some sense if someone quits or is fired for cause. But when the company eliminates your role — not for performance, not for anything you did — and then uses that same clause to withhold pay for work you already did years ago, that's not a "policy," that's a loophole to avoid paying people what they earned.

Fidelity talks a lot about ethics. It's in their marketing, their values statements, all of it. But quietly using a technicality to avoid paying out shares that employees earned through actual performance, right after eliminating their jobs through no fault of their own, is the opposite of that. You can't claim to value your people's hard work and then strip the payout the moment it's inconvenient for you.

Fidelity needs to actually listen and do the right thing here. Pay people what they earned through years of hard work, instead of swiping it away on a technicality the moment it's convenient.

Curious what others think. Is anyone else pushing back on this, or looking into next steps?

Good news from our favorite President on H-1B visas

President Donald Trump's administration on Monday released a proposed regulation to codify an unprecedented fee of more than $100,000 on new H-1B visas for highly skilled foreign workers that has been blocked by the courts.

The fee, first temporarily imposed by Trump last year, dramatically raises the cost of visas that are heavily relied on in the tech, education and research sectors.

A federal judge in June ‌ruled that the fee was illegal and blocked the Trump administration from collecting it.

A Boston-based appeals court is reviewing that decision while a different court considers whether a judge properly rejected a challenge to the fee by a major business group.

Trump's temporary fee increase expires in September, one year after it was issued.

The proposed rule by the Department of Homeland Security, posted in the Federal Register on Monday, would make a fee of $103,265 permanent.

It could be finalized by the end of the year.

New University Policy Formalizes Layoff Procedures

New Mexico State University has implemented a new policy to govern employee layoffs. This formal process mandates a 30-day notice period for affected staff. The policy also establishes a transfer window, allowing employees to seek other vacant positions within the university. Furthermore, it prioritizes the elimination of vacant and temporary roles before cutting regular full-time jobs. This new framework aims to provide a clearer and more structured approach to workforce reductions.
