How astonishingly cheap has Imperial Oil’s management become that they expect employees to bring their own lunch while celebrating one billion barrels produced at Kearl. Fifty billion dollars in potential revenue, and the big reward is… packing your own sandwich. John Whelan, hope things are comfortable up in the penthouse while everyone else is told to brown‑bag it.

PIP feels so liberating
I'm not even trying anymore. Most of my time is spent on the job search, since I know that no matter what I do, I'll be shown the the door at the end. I used to give it my all and then some every single day and I still got put on a PIP. I simply don't give a single damn anymore.
Requesting Professionalism?
The health-insurance industry is the largest barely-legal fraud in America.
The guy who started Centene was a money grubbing thug.
The people running the company now have Zero morals or integrity.
You make major profit by denying people “healthcare” and can’t even run the racket quietly without major lawsuits.
The only thing keeping the American people from putting the entire C-suite in jail is government cronyism.
That's how bad it's gotten
We've reached the point where even the laziest people, those who work maybe 2-3 hours a day, are leaving for better opportunities. When that's happening, you know things are truly dire. If even the coasters are jumping ship, what's left for the rest of us? Seriously?
Stop dressing it up as “leadership.”
"Some bosses aren’t leaders.
They’re bullies with titles.
And pretending otherwise only protects the wrong people.
A bad boss doesn’t just make work annoying.
They make people doubt themselves.
They drain confidence.
They turn Sunday night into a stress spiral.
They make good employees wonder if they’re the problem.
They usually aren’t.
DDI found that employees with leaders who genuinely care about their well‑being are 3x more likely to be engaged — which is the least surprising statistic on earth.
People do better work when their leader actually gives a damn.
And you can hear the difference instantly.
A boss says:
“Figure it out.”
“That’s your problem.”
“I don’t have time for this.”
“You’re lucky to have a job.”
“I don’t pay you to think.”
A leader says:
“Let’s work through it.”
“What do you need?”
“Let’s prioritize.”
“I appreciate what you bring.”
“Tell me what you think.”
That’s not “soft.”
That’s real leadership.
People remember how you acted when things got hard.
They remember who had their back.
And they absolutely remember the person who used authority to make them feel small.
A title makes you a boss.
How you treat people decides whether anyone follows you."
The upward failure
Is this the only company where people somehow fail up? I've watched guys make enormous mistakes, face zero consequences, and then land promotions. At the same time, good employees who deliver get ignored. It's demoralizing, to say the least. Name one other place where that's tolerated.
Our Path Forward
We will re-arrange the chairs on the Titanic and call it a day.
EBOS Townhall Sad Continuation
We finally had the EBOS Townhall, postponed repeatedly after the VSP and RIFs started. Depressingly cringe, like trying to give a team halftime pep talk when 30% of the team left, 30% injured and the rest left to make up a 100 point scoring deficit. Carrie Milby looked bloated, stressed and overwhelmed while trying to deliver her "we got this" pep talk. For those left, Mission Simplify means doing more with less. God help us all.
Work harder so execs compensation package is bigger
Oh, was that not motivating enough?
Well what if we completely fu---d you over and made you commute for 2 hours a day?
Oh well, I tried. I cannot figure out why the employees are not happy or motivated.
Time to give myself a 5 million dollar bonus for all that hard work!
Important market based culture update
From Darcie Henry
in your inboxes this AM.
I won’t read whatever nonsense this is, but hoping someone can just translate for us whatever new intentional misery this will be bringing to being employed here?
My god this company su-ks
My retirement is non-existent from the share price decimation and this company just su-ks to work for now since everyone hates it.
IBM is in Big Trouble
Is it just a coincidence that literally 4 weeks after the giant IBM stock implosion caused by AK and his incompetent management that this board is filled with posts of people and entire teams getting put on PIPs, terminated etc ? IBM is beyond desperate to reduce headcount without having to pay out one cent...you can see and smell the desperation. But it's also amazing the number of people who no longer GAF about IBM , do the bare minimum, and say they are just floating along for another 1 or 2 years until they get forced out. IBM should add DGAF to their name.
2025 MP/GP/ELT comp
https://www.financialadvisoriq.com/c/5115064/722894/edward_jones_chief_penny_pennington_dips
According to this article, PP's income took a 3.5% cut and only took home $27.8mil in GP earnings. In fact, the top 6 partners (including FL who's now retired) took home over $130,000,000 in GP comp last year while our pathetic little LPs earned only a fraction of the GP shares.
2025 GP comp from this article:
PP $27.8m
AM $21.3m
KC $21.7m
DC $19m
KJ $21.3m
TOTAL $131.5
- FL retired at the end of 2025
Yet while they roll in the dough, we're faced with layoffs, offshoring, AI and the lowest morale I've ever seen in more than two decades. Shoot... each of these partners will make more money between now and 12/31 than most of us will ever see in our lives, much less be able to accumulate & grow for our own retirement.
It's been said before... you don't hate these trolls enough.
Committed to Lowering Cost and Simplification
Leadership repeats these concepts on every call, and have for years. In 20 years of having health insurance as an employee here, my costs have gone down ZERO times.
Year over year, it only gets more complicated.
Talk is cheap. Like propaganda, no matter how many times they repeat it - doesn’t make it true.
Reduce my costs, pay my claims - start with those two - get the basics down first.
Employee Distractions
@VP Why does VZ waste money promoting internal employee videos, newsletters, emails on internal website, most employees do not have time to watch list, read, listen but do their 8 hour work.Personally, I work on my feet, not at a desk, yet local manager sends out emails I don't read until days, weeks later, unless I take my lunch.
Why do people bother with town halls?
Nothing useful comes out of them anymore.
BRG changes
Taking away the last bits of any real joy we have around here but pretending like they are doubling the investment. This company has no culture left.
How is the RTO going?
In my location nothing has changed. Desks with names printed on paper are still empty? So what was the point of this useless exersise other than to take away the last flex day for the de-valued teammates required to be in desks 40 hours? I hope leadership doesnt expect their gaslightling attempt to boost morale. Empty desks with a green circle speak for themselves.
Layoffs are back on
In full force layoffs are back on. Starting with the people who work the hardest to be loyal to their job
Pre Noticed After Medical Leave.
If any of us is still under an assumption that Wells Fargo care, hear this out about my peer.
My peer got pre noticed on the second week after coming back from a medical leave. This person received back to back exceeds on year end reviews. Was a top performer and always worked hard.
Manager had to cut down the team size and chose one of the top performers.
Just do what’s required and be transactional. This company doesn’t deserve our talent and hard work.
Congrats on your dry promotion!
The word thru the grape vine is that promotions this year are not coming with monetary raises. You get all the increased responsibility, but your pay is staying put.
Observations
It’s like a microcosm in here and a good analysis of human psychology. I’ve noticed that the longer this drags out, the more stressed people become, and in turn, the more they turn on each other with nastiness. It’s no wonder that “the people” can never topple those in power. We are too busy toppling each other.
The Unrealistic Metric Loop: Shifting Blame and Threatening Safety
Management’s obsession with hitting a rigid, daily efficiency percentage has created a completely broken, circular game of finger-pointing. What’s worse is that these impossible metrics are actively creating an unsafe working environment.
Here is the daily reality: local foreman gives the crew a specific job assignment. The crew completes the assignment exactly as directed, but because the work assigned doesn't automatically equal management's "magic number" for the day, the foreman gets chewed out by their boss.
Instead of pushing back up the chain and explaining that the crew did exactly what they were told to do, middle management tries to point the blame directly on the craft to save their own skin.
The absurdity is off the charts. We are talking about the exact same foremen who assigned the work in the first place, and the exact same foremen who are sitting behind multiple high-def cameras running ops tests and watching our every single move. They see exactly what we are doing every minute of the shift, yet they still look us in the eye and ask why the numbers are low.
What the system completely ignores is reality. Nowhere in these calculations are we allowed to add to our time for things that are completely out of our control.
Our guess? Higher management is trying to figure out how to navigate away from traditional, publicized layoffs. By making up completely unrealistic performance metrics, they can stress people out or manufacture failures.
When the only logical answer we can give a foreman is, "You gave us the job, you tell us," it shows just how detached the metric system is from actual field operations. If you're going to manage by a spreadsheet to squeeze the craft, at least look out the window to see the unsafe environment you are building on the ground.
Who cares
We post so much about the micromanaging the layoffs , those people don’t care. More money for them.
12 years a……futureshaper!
I’m at the heart of the chains. And the beatings build me character!
Return to Office: Featuring Parking Lot Tailgating
Everyone has been ordered to RTO… Nobody said you had to go INSIDE.
Welcome to the Parking Lot, Suite 2026.
BBQ grill next to the company-issued laptop.
Burgers at 11:47 AM because “lunch meeting.”
Tailgate chairs for the 9 AM Zoom.
Beverages in the cooler labeled “Q4 Financials.”
Wi-Fi mysteriously works better next to the smoker.
Productivity is down 87%, but morale is at an all-time high.
HR: “Why is everyone working outside?”
Employees: “We’re embracing the company’s return-to-office initiative.”
HR: “Why is there a grill?”
Employees: “Team building.”
HR: “Why are there 37 folding chairs?”
Employees: “Collaboration.”
HR: “Who brought the co-----e set?”
Employees: “Leadership.”
At this point, the parking lot isn’t a parking lot.
It’s a corporate tailgate with benefits.
Welcome back, everyone. Please remember to badge into the building before returning to your assigned folding chair.
Ajoy is truly out of his league
Just listening to him fumble his way through the opening of the BTS leader call is painful. This man is who Sarah thinks is SVP, or more, material?
Centene is doomed with current leadership.
Managers always play favorites and no amount of work changes that
I'm tired of working hard and never being good enough for some people. It's about favorites, not performance.
And so we wait
Another day, more stressing. I hate this place.
The transformation
Good employees who see others advance while they're stuck become bad employees in the end. I've seen it happen many times at TD. This place is really good at turning good employees into bad ones.
I think we're safe from layoffs
Everything is working out well for us, and this leadership has never been the one to lay people off just for the sake of layoffs. Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm done stressing over cuts, at least for now.
The resource we're losing
Dedicated people with decades of experience are walking away. We're losing our best resource, and nobody in charge seems to care.
The sensitivity epidemic
Say anything less than "great job" and you're accused of yelling. The inmates are running the asylum.
I feel bad for new employees
All they'll ever know is the mess Nike is right now. None of them will know the amazing company we joined decades ago that was on top of the list for so many people. With great pay, great benefits, amazing products, and making us feel proud to be part of it all. I miss those days.
"This is fine."
We've got staff with no drive, broken management, layoffs of experienced people, and no growth path. Other than that, everything's fine.
Why do so many of you hate AEP so much?
Some of the replies here really make me feel uneasy. If I hated a place as much as some of you do AEP, I'd be long gone. Life is too short to stay somewhere that's making you so miserable. You know that's an option, right? Walk away and find something where you'll be happier. It's that simple.
UOP after Mr. KW left
Congratulations to all UOP teams, now you got long wishes new boss coming from Honeyhell. You life is well to be doomed to be the slaves to Honeyhell
This is ki-ling morale
Having to waste more than two hours on commute is certainly not making me more productive. What it is making me is resentful and slow and absolutely unwilling to go the extra mile, something I used to do all the time. I'm betting you RTO will turn out to be the biggest productivity ki-ler.
Has any manager actually tried to boost morale?
Not with town halls, but real conversations about things getting better? It seems like they're hoping the issue will fix itself.
Miss feeling proud, secure & motivated
It’s just sad. This company used to be amazing.
