Final Pay?

For those of you have been impacted, how was your final pay received?

I’m salaried and was let go on 3/19 with final date of 4/2. I received a direct deposit on 4/2 in two of my bank accts but not my 3rd acct. I expecting to get paid for 3/22-4/3 period on the next pay date of 4/10 since the last pay date was 3/27.

Have others impacted on 3/19 or previous rounds experienced this? I’m going to guess they just pay out on an off cycle for those laid off?

Layoff alert

UHC and Optum, tech roles. Zamuda and her croonies plotting cost cutting n offshoring to preserve their 2026 bonus. Someone should ask how much they make, how much they code and do actual work vs "though leadership" and vision BS. I can ask AI to provide me a great vision n though Leadership. We don't need these executives making million when gpt can do it for free. There are so many executive that have no idea how anything works. They have not even used any system but join calls and blabber about things they don't have a clue as about. These ego maniacs feed on power trip. They laid off the my best systems design architect I know last month but kept the useless directors that know and do NOTHING. Now the developers had no clue how the end to end architecture works, just spinning up AI generated garbage code based off of incorrect user stories created by incomplete PMs m business stakeholders.

Synopsys India (Bangalore office)

We are a team of 7 and 6 of us received an meeting invitation from HR individually for tomorrow morning. My manager is very confused about it too and colleagues at office strongly thinks it has to do with the lay offs. Its better to get severance and leave this place at this point. I'll update tomorrow about the outcome but it's 99% we are being eliminated.

Beware exxon alight they are not here to help you. Lump sum horror story.

I was asked to leave last year piped out before retirement eligibility. So I got my retirement payout information from alight. You are eligible to get retirement after 50 years of age. I was told I had to wait 90 days to get my lump sum payout. I was given the deadline of Feb 26th to submit my notarized paperwork. I sent it off on Feb 3rd and waited for a check. The check was supposed to come in March. I waited for two weeks into march and nothing. I called alight and they said it was late by one day and expired. They said they would send another packet to me. When I got the packet the lump sum was not available. I called alight again and they said I canceled the retirement in December of 2025 on the website. Alight said they sent an email to my exxonmobil.com email. I told them I never received the email because I did not have access to my work email. I am now fighting them to get my lump sum payout because I want to be done with this horrible company. I did not cancel my retirement and don't know if they are just sc--wing me around so they can save money by paying me over 20 years. If they don't allow my lump sum I will sue them as the amount is several hundred thousand dollars.

Layoff Determinator

I was told that USAA is using health insurance utilization (cost they spend on each employee as self-funded plan) as the filter for layoff/terminations where performance was not a concern. Looking for anyone in HR or higher up who can confirm this is whats happening. For ancedotal does anyone recall if the people laid off were overly sick or known to be using their healthcare alot? Could be a major ERISA 510 violation if we can crowdsource some proof.

May the Odds be in your favor!

A complete massacre at Ansys France

The layoff plan was finalised in France and it’s a massacre that targets mostly engineers and surprisingly not too many corporate functions. Even products that are supposedly in priority has not been spared and people with domain knowledge have been impacted. In my 18 years at Ansys, I have never come across such levels of insincerity and misdirection.

What did they expect?

After the merger they got rid of all the leadership that made the company successful, and replaced it with a toxic leadership from a dying company (Sprint), and adopted it’s failing models for annual layoffs.

Fast forward to today, we’re not growing anymore. The stock is tanking, and they’re tightening the grip for in office (will be monitoring/micro managing for at least 8 hours/day for 3 days/week).

Do they really think this will make employees work harder? You would think that they would want to make it more pleasant to work here after decimating the culture, but no, they’re making it worse. Where did they get their leadership training? Any id--t would know that the people are what make the company successful, not a leadership lineup with visions that change every few years with.

Good luck trying to make me work harder or above and beyond. Sure, I’ll be in the office twiddling my thumbs and watching videos on my phone. You took away any incentive for me to go above and beyond.

Layoff running totals based on Slack

Tracking participants count #general Slack channel in Oracle One workspace, as the fastest available proxy indication of ongoing layoffs.

  • mar01-mar31: 12446 layoffs, and 844 additions (based on Slack regular tracking)
  • feb01-feb28: 943 layoffs, and 1143 additions (based on Slack regular tracking)
  • jan01-jan31: 1604 layoffs, and 1834 additions (based on Slack regular tracking)
  • dec01-dec31: 1031 layoffs, and 844 additions (based on Slack regular tracking)
  • nov01-nov30: 1614 layoffs, and 1327 additions (based on Slack regular tracking)
  • oct01-oct31: 2504 layoffs, 1762 additions (based on Slack regular tracking)
  • sep02-sep30: 6275 layoffs, 861 additions (based on Slack regular tracking)
  • aug14-sep01: 733 layoffs (based on Slack very few data points)
  • aug01-aug14: ?2900 layoffs in IDC (based on media reports)

Regions outside IDC and NA usually have a significant delay when laid off people are disconnected from Slack (e.g. 1 month in Pacific regions, perhaps longer in some EU countries), so this is a floor estimate with additions reflected immediately, but reductions lagging behind on average.

What is called "layoff estimates" are partially part of normal attrition, limitations are covered in details in comments.

I will post daily in comments on the count change and running current month total while this post is still on the first page.

Individuals exiting Alcon, voluntary or involuntary?

Can anyone comment on what, if any, is Alcon's "package" for employees who they would like to, or decide to, get rid of? Not people impacted by a structured RIF or layoff like we just had. Just those "one off" exits that happen all year long.

That could be PIP'd and fired, or outright fired for performance (not cause). Or "encouraged" to leave: can the employee "negotiate" an exit?

Miserable Severance Payoff

"A payment in the amount of four weeks of base salary for your first year of employment plus one week’s salary for each additional year of employment, based on your most recent hire date, up to a combined maximum of 26 weeks of base salary."

I have just under 15 years of service to the company with numerous awards and promotions for good performance. Like many here, I have poured blood sweat and tears into my job going above and beyond for this company.

All those efforts are now in the dustbin and I am being shown the door with just 18 weeks of pay (which will be fully subject to tax).

As an older person with specialist skills, I am not easily going to find another similar role, if at all. The future seems very dark and uncertain and I am fearful
