Can I refuse RSU?

When I think of the next round RIF, holding RSU can be a risk.
This is what we learned this time.
We don’t have low performers anymore.

High salary
High RSU
High age
Theses are the major factors of RIF selection.

If they give me RSU, can I refuse that?

I actually want out now

Things changed dramatically after my last manager was laid off and the new one came in. The constant criticism, micromanagement, and obvious favoritism have made the job exhausting. I'm actually finding myself hoping my position gets eliminated because leaving with severance sounds better than continuing like this. That's how bad it's gotten.

Tired of this place ..

I know my role will be made redundant soon… training up AI and GSC to take my role is so dehumanising after being in this company for years, I am sure others are feeling this too. What if we all just walked out and called a strike? Everyone tools down, service down and called a strike till they listened to our demands of job security and duty of care ? What is the worst that could happen ?

Who's going to be responsible for the work of those laid off?

We lost two people who were integral to our team. Their work has to be done. The rest of us are already overworked, so if they expect us to be the ones to do it, they're in for a rude awakening. I don't think somebody really thought things through when making the latest layoff list.

Irish redundancy

What's the rumoured redundancy package. I heard 4 weeks, 6 weeks and 8 weeks per year from all different people.

Anyone any idea what they are giving this time. Just wondering if the packages are getting worse or staying the same as the years go on.

Will there be more layoffs this year or do we think it's all over until 2027 now?

PUT HR on the SPOT

If people are eventually going to g to be laid off for any number of ridiculous reasons. Shouldn’t every exiting person get on record .. the question and answer as to why others like TK or BE still keep their jobs when they are a does not meet. I mean if there is an increase in the numbers of do’s called mediocre people then that means mediocre results. And who sits at the top of the mediocre organization? What do any of us have to lose.

Layoff communications to employees

When a layoff occurs does it come from your direct manager, senior manager, or Human Resources? Is it during a one on one meeting? How do they determine severance depending on band level, if offered at all? What happens to any unused accrued time off after a layoff notification has happened? Do they give a 30 day notice? Lots of questions, thanks.

If below meets in year end review what is the next step

Hi. I got below meet in mid term review and for no reason. Manager is having monthly one on one and bringing all kind of nonsense to show am not working enough even though it's otherwise. So i can see in year end he woll give below meets. What happens next...do they lay me off in January or February..no severance? No bonus? Or they can kick me out before jan too?

Apparently we are tracking to a December layoff

Not a fun post.

This has come up on Reddit too: the September list of people RIF’d was reduced from the original (some estimates had it being 2-3x longer).

There were a few reasons and to why the was reduced and I won’t get into them here. But at the end of the day, the remaining people from the original list will get RIF’d and the plan is December after the quarterly announcements.

It’s the same story based on budgets (RSU) - North American resources are expensive. M-levels can confirm that the first couple of list drafts are way longer than the actual final September RIF.

December will be the next round for US, Canada and India. $$ and details will go out in the Q2 10-q.

If you downvote this post, you’re not doing anyone a favor. I told people on here multiple times the date of the September RIF was not Sep 1 but Sep 15, and was downvoted. Management gets trained the week before on layoffs. Always (email or not).

Letter to Leadership: Enough With the Whiplash. Now Fix What It Broke.

It started with a letter from Elliott. Maybe it ends with a letter from the people still in the Tower.
From: The People Still in the Tower
Next stop: stability.

Removing two EMT members is not a cultural reset. What leadership does next determines whether this is actually one.

For years, employees have absorbed the consequences of strategy whiplash, expensive mistakes, consultant spending, restructurings, repeated cuts and leadership decisions they were directed to execute—even when the people closest to the work knew better.

The people making those decisions were compensated extraordinarily well. The people underneath them often paid the real price: jobs, careers, financial security, morale and trust.

That can’t simply be filed under “new leadership, moving forward.”

Leadership owns what leadership allowed.

The fiber chapter is over. The boardroom battles and proxy fights are behind us. The constant strategy pivots need to end. Crown Castle now has an opportunity to get back to basics: operate exceptionally well, generate sustainable organic growth, invest intelligently, execute consistently and rebuild the workforce that actually makes the company run.

And that means investing in people—not another round of cuts disguised as transformation.

Commit to a meaningful layoff freeze and give employees room to work without constantly wondering who’s next. Stop replacing institutional knowledge with consultants. Before launching another giant technology transformation, fix what is actually broken. Rebuild the expertise that repeated reductions stripped out. Invest heavily in cross-training and upskilling. Create career paths employees can actually see. Make mental wellness and psychological safety more than HR language.

And perhaps most importantly: stop treating people who identify problems as the problem.

Listen to them. Protect them. Thank them. Fix what they identified.

TA and KH are now part of the leadership team carrying this company forward. By many accounts, they are capable leaders. Now comes the harder part: demonstrate that the next chapter will be different. Acknowledge what employees have endured, establish clear expectations for how people will be treated, and rebuild trust through actions rather than another mission statement.

Crown Castle is an enormous enterprise supported by a remarkably small workforce. Its people should feel like an extraordinary asset—not an expense line perpetually waiting for another reduction.

Employees have survived the fiber bet, activist battles, reorganizations, leadership turnover, strategy reversals and repeated workforce reductions.

They’ve done their part.

Now it’s leadership’s turn.

Stability. Accountability. Respect. Career development. Operational discipline. Sustainable growth. No more whiplash.

And if the remaining EMT can’t commit to that, then on this casual ride we’ve apparently been taking for years, can someone please announce the new riders and the next stop?

—— And yes, AI helped mask the writers. We’re not d-mb, we’re survivalists. We’ve learned a few things around here.

LAY-OFF IS ALREADY HAPPENING

Don’t any of you know they are outsourcing AI/TP and staff have already left or moved and the rest are getting laid off soon? And don’t you know they are outsourcing MSK too? They are just getting rid of depts by using vendors instead of us. They sure do “love” their staff so much that they don’t want to pay salaries and benefits.

Dallas County IT Restructures, Cuts Staff

Dallas County is laying off 31 IT employees as part of a departmental reorganization. The move aims to modernize the department and create 52 new positions with different skill sets. This overhaul follows a period of leadership changes and cybersecurity issues. The restructuring is expected to save the county money through adjusted salary ranges for the new roles. Affected employees have been encouraged to apply for the newly created positions.

School District Faces Cleanliness Crisis Post-Layoffs

Concerns over unsanitary conditions have emerged in a suburban school district following the dismissal of union janitorial staff. Teachers and parents report overflowing garbage, dirty bathrooms, and a lack of basic supplies. State lawmakers are now demanding an investigation by the Illinois State Board of Education and the Department of Public Health. The district attributes some issues to delays with a new private custodial company. Officials acknowledge the transition has been slower than anticipated.
