I Miss New York Telephone

There once was a time when one felt appreciated, with subtle niceties beyond the paycheck. On a Friday, it was not unusual for the boss to say a little early, "Fella's head home. Thanks". Prior to a vacation the boss would throw a 1/2 day your way... — read more

Go to VZweb and search “RTO”

How embarrassing. Back in 2022-2024, we called out other companies requiring everyone back in the office. Especially cringeworthy - “AT&T follows Amazon in cracking down on remote work with 5 days in office mandate”. And now look at us.

Exhibit A: LinkedIn Leadership Theater

Perfect example of the BS — while exec leadership keeps hitting ‘like’ on feel-good fluff about ‘digital wellness,’ the real issues like job cuts, workload, and shrinking teams get ignored. Nice optics, zero substance.

Nope, not quitting and not getting fired BUT I ported our wireless numbers out to T-Mobile for compatible pricing and the better network.

Integrity Survey

Have you completed your survey? For the first time ever I was completely transparent in my response. No, I don’t believe leadership stresses integrity. No, I don’t believe we’re able to speak without retribution. No, I don’t believe leadership... — read more

Does anyone have any information on what’s going to happen to the buildings that are not one of those 20 people locations? Are we selling them? Are we leasing them out? Are we keeping them from what I understand some of them in the mid Atlantic area... — read more

Does this fairy tale have a sinister double meaning?

We need better hiring

I think we’ve set ourselves up to fail by treating hiring like a short-term cost. Always choosing the cheapest candidate or outsourcing to save a buck ends up costing more in rework and burnout. Not to mention, lowballing usually ends up costing us... — read more

Verizon is all fluff, no substance

Nothing gets fixed by carefully crafted corporate buzzwords and empty promises - not the organizational structure, workload management, or the customer experience. It’s no surprise layoffs hit like blunt force trauma, and we end up losing good... — read more

RTO Poor Leadership

If leaders knew how to lead effectively, RTO would not be necessary. People will work for leaders they respect. They will go above and beyond. They will put in the extra hours because they feel valued. If you need to babysit them, it says a lot... — read more

The Need to Offer another VSP

I truly regret not opting into the VSP when I had the chance, especially now with the frustrating RTO policies. It’s hard not to feel like Hans is leading Verizon down the same path he took with Ericsson and I’d prefer to be out before that... — read more

Marketing ≠ Execution

Verizon’s latest message to consumers promises a “new standard” in customer service — AI assistants, 24/7 access, seamless onboarding, and something called “Customer Champions.” Sounds impressive on paper. But internally, most of us know this isn’t... — read more
