Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It could have been worse

It really could have been worse when you think about the numbers people were throwing around earlier, because there were plenty of conversations where folks talked about 20,000 cuts or even 29,000. I guess that makes 15,000 feel almost like the least awful version of the situation. Still bad, though.

It should be more than 20,000 given how bloated Verizon's Management structure has become. Streamlining VZ's bureaucracy is one of Dan Schulman's stated goals.

You should take Dan at his word as he has a track record of significantly reducing employee headcount wherever he's been in a leadership role. I've known and worked with him on and off since the early 1990's beginning at AT&T.

@a3 rather than being jealous of those who have worked hard their whole lives and got to the top, why not work harder yourself and try and better yourself, get promoted, etc. Try walking a mile before you criticize those that have already done so….

It should be worse, just get it over with instead of having another one in Q1 then another next Oct. Let us do our jobs and you leadership stop being terrible leaders.

The greed is crazy, we can expect to make 20 billion but if we come in at 19 Billion oh there must be a shake up the board isn't happy yet they all still get 100% of their bonuses and floating hotels while we get scrapes

IT, HR were throwing around a headcount in a severance report in an open slack of 29k+ - i have the screen shots.

It's unclear if that meant 29k+ getting the boot or not.
