Unemployment benefits in New Jersey

Can anyone provide some guidance on when and how to apply for unemployment benefits in New Jersey? Do you wait until you’re off payroll? Or when your severance runs out?

Severance paid 30 days upon termination. NJ unemployment… verizon will give you a letter stating last day of unemployment. You go to nj unemployment office and apply. They will do the calc and you will do a weekly online simple 7 questions yes/no stating you are actively seeking employment.

Then funds wired to bank weekly

My situation was 20 weeks when Rif’d.

I will say NJ Unemployment office was excellent.

@OP I’m pretty sure severance is paid lump sum. Probably have to wait until you’re off payroll.
