This probably goes far back in time, but who do you consider the last good leader at IBM? This is probably somewhat subjective since there are multiple elements and differing opinions on what makes a good leader.

The recent post on Culture saw a few positive references to Pat Daniels - reminders of what a great leader he is though sadly someone many current employees would not have experienced.

We are a big company now so it’s great to share with colleagues who the current great leaders are.

Let’s keep this positive shall we? Enbridge HR will have the thread removed if there negative mention of certain VPs.

We've had the worst now the best ! A bit of positivity . The only one for me is probably BG president SIBG CG. Seems to actually know whats going on in biz and doesn't look like he has a huge ego

Not long ago I was reminding myself how blessed I am. And how I hope to get to retire from Centene. I never thought it would be this soon though. Alot of years with a lot of good memories that I will always cherish. We had soooo much fun in the Tyler office.
I had A LOT of great team leaders and supervisors (except for one that was absolutely heartless but she didn't last long thankfully!) Alot of good people I have met along the way that I now can call my very good friends. My bestie L.A.! I want you all to know that you hold a very special place in my heart and I will never forget you. I'm really sad though. This has indeed been an emotional rollercoaster.
Alot of mixed emotions tonight as we all try to get some sleep. Just know that you are not alone, I don't know everyone but 60k is alot of people. We are like a family and maybe somehow someway we can keep in touch.
Thanks Centene for the growth and knowledge that I have received. The fun times, the laughs and the smiles. Those that have passed away who I will never forget may you RIP 😢

Wanted to note some positivity going into holiday weekend, so it's not all just bi--hin and moaning. I'm guilty of that as much as anyone else on this forum. But also want to show gratitude. Phil's email was a call to action but also a road map to greatness.

Good managers will do their best to learn the job so they can be an asset to the team. Good managers will not push their direct reports off on someone else because they do not have the answer and do not care to learn along with the team.

I know it su-ks to be the one being gutted and left out. I feel for you as I have experienced it myself. As much as it is painful - there is a higher reason for you being chosen. You are being rescued even though it feels like the rug being ripped under you. You will recover and land in a better spot. You have outgrown the version of yourself at Verizon and excel anywhere you go. Sometimes the universe rips off the bandage and places you where you need to be because you are being complacent. I wish all of you much luck, success, and happiness in your post-Verizon life. I know I found in a company that actually values my opinions and work ethic. Peace be with you all especially all trolls that will come here and comment about me being lazy etc. For their information I found a job before my off-payroll date, started a week after and never took unemployment. 🤣

Wow!!! It has been 10 years since commitment runs deep day. Oh how the time flies. I would like to wish all the Coterra people a happy welcome to a wonderful company. Many you enjoy your time at the new and improved Devon and may the odds be ever in your favor.

I do only because I get to work remote and make a lot of money.

Despite everything, this used to be the best place I ever worked. Great coworkers and a good manager make all the difference. Everything I've had since has come with nothing but horrible people who only look to stab you in the back if they can. I'd go back in a second.

We lost great people in this round and our manager was pi---d. Apparently, he was not consulted on who to lay off. I don't know if it's all an act, but I doubt it. He's a good guy and a good manager, I don't see why he'd lie about something like this. Tells you a lot about how these cuts are decided.

I hate the company culture and all the layoffs, but I have a fantastic manager and great coworkers. That's so rare and it's the only reason I'm still here. I don't want to risk that, even with everything else.

I got to say Uniti and Windstream has been great to me. I love this company. The people, the employees. All of it. Customers love me when I show up and tell them they don’t need to switch to Fiber and can stay on copper. They give me a hug. I love you all.

I've been through many, many layoffs at Optum and seen many talented people let go. It's tough to watch, but I've also seen a clear pattern where a lot of those people ended up in much better positions elsewhere. They found roles with better pay, better culture, or just more respect. Just something to keep in mind.

Optimism has returned. Sanoke is a strong leader with conviction. It‘s like the last 10 years of leadership was just a bad dream.

After all the restructures and behind-the-scenes changes over the past few years, it really looks like the capable managers have been filtered out. The ones who knew the business, earned trust, and actually cared about their teams are no longer around. What remains feels intentional, like leadership prefers compliance over competence, even if that means morale and common sense take a hit.

I have my complaints for sure but like, overall I have an amazing thing going for me. I have a great job that I genuinely enjoy but, realize I'm being paid less than market value. I have a fantastic team that I get along with very well and we are all "friends." Up until the stupid managerial "reorg" this last year, my manager has been one of the best I've ever had - new "manager" is basically MIA 99.999% of the time so I know very little about him.

Some of you may laugh at this but I do feel I have fairly good job security because I am on the FED side and I'd tell you what it is but, we are so tiny that I'd be immidiately known if anybody reads this...I am in a job position in which is quite.... sensitive to say the least.

I love working in FED because we are a tight nit department and everyone gets to know everyone on a more personable level. That's great for ppl like me but terrible for some people lol.

My complaints are the RTO, the random af managerial "reorg" and pure lack of promotions for the last 5 years. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy overall.

Who are the best leaders in what org and why?

After over 2 decades at T, I got hit by a surplus back in 2022. I was lucky enough to land at Verizon shortly after, and I've been loving it.

I hope and pray that doesn't come to an end on Friday. But if it does, I just want to thank everyone. These last couple of years have been, without a doubt, the best of my professional life. I've had a couple of great bosses, and coworkers that can only be described as awesome.

To those who get hit on Thursday, you and your loved ones will be in my thoughts.

To those that remain, I have nothing but the upmost confidence that you'll continue to knock it out of the park, each and every day.
