Who are we hiring in management?

I’m pretty sure my boss is a re--rd and lacks the judgment and skill set for the role. He has a very childlike mindset and doesn’t seem to understand that putting people’s personal information into AI is a serious violation of trust. I go into work with the best intentions, but my direct manager consistently makes the experience frustrating and unprofessional. Basic decision-making, communication, and common sense seem to be a struggle for him, and it’s hard to see what qualifications or actual expertise got him into the position in the first place. It honestly feels like the rest of the team is constantly compensating for his lack of competence instead of being led by someone capable.

CSSC New York

This is crazy.

The reason there are no open job postings

The sole purpose of D&S is to ensure that Hipos rather than the most qualified candidate is selected for the best roles. Ranking follows role meaning that your ranking is highly dependent on your role being visible and valued by management. The cycle perpetuates.

If you don't use enough AI tokens, you will be laid off

This might only apply to software engineering, or even certain departments, it's hard to be sure.

But if you're using any of the AI tools, especially Cursor, they come with dashboards to tell management how tokens you're using, how much of your code is AI written, etc.

They are monitoring this at the Sr Director level and above.

I'm already hearing stories of managers and directors being forced to justify to their bosses why they should keep otherwise good employees who's token usage isn't high.

Of course, Cigna has to pay for the tokens. The AI companies have us (and most of the industry) convinced we need to give them as much money as possible by using as many tokens as possible. It's as ridiculous as a for-profit electric company convincing you to waste electricity.

I think most of the managers know how d-mb this is. But it's not like managers and directors aren't also being let go. Even if they think this is d-mb, your manager is going to go along with it.. They already gave rid of the ones who wouldn't.

That's not to say there aren't still some good managers taking care of their employees as well as they can given the circumstances.

For example, if someone gives you training, or has to learn something new, and then you get laid off, you might think that was d-mb and a waste of company resources. Sometimes that is a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. But sometimes that's your manager doing what they can give you the skills they think you'll need in your next job after they're forced to lay you off.

Brainstorm for Yourself, Not for Oracle Clowns

From my experience at Oracle...

Stop sharing your big ideas or new project concepts with management. Most of them honestly don’t understand the real technical depth behind the work.

They rarely join brainstorming sessions or real idea discussions. They only show up when the final result is ready. They don’t want the struggle or hard part of building something. They just want the finished product handed to them so they can approve it, sign the document, and take the credit.

If you suggest new ideas or projects before having complete results, management might even start seeing you negatively. And honestly, a lot of these managers can’t even get proper resources or support for their own teams. They have just something called Managerial EGO.

They love starting trendy discussions around hackathons, POCs, innovation, learning sessions, and all that. But most of the time, they only know the buzzwords because they heard them from someone else. They build vocabulary, not actual understanding.

At the end of the day, you’re there to finish the work assigned to you.Not to help management look smarter using your ideas. Some of those ideas could actually become your own startup someday and make you far more successful instead of helping useless managers climb higher.

You should not have to worry about the deployment of satellites taking away terrestrial cell site jobs. But.....

Much of management has proven they are clueless, sociopathic and pretty much stupid when it comes to real analysis of what will and will not work when it comes to the network. And for those few that know better, they are spineless and will not speak up to stop the insanity. It would not surprise me for there to be mass layoffs if/when a handful of Elon's satellites get deployed and VZ jumps the g-n firing people with the thinking they will move customers to the satellite system. The facts are that the satellite systems will help the rural areas, and probably have some [more] governmental applications (more spying on our citizens), but high traffic areas will still need ground based cell sites. See the question asked on Google, and the response (bottom line - the pipe is not big enough to serve lots of people at the same time, and too many satellites would be needed to make it work).

Here is the question posted on Google (if you want to ask variations yourself):
How many simultaneous users can be served with 5 mbps download speeds on a single satellite (all beams) using the latest satellite and mobile technology and 100Mhz of bandwidth?

And here is the answer (NOTE the last section):

AI Overview
With 100 MHz} of bandwidth of bandwidth, a single satellite system with the latest 5G and mobile technology can serve between 4,000 and 12,000 active, simultaneous users (depending on the use of spatial beam multiplexing) at a guaranteed 5 Mbps download speed.
The Breakdown
To calculate how many simultaneous connections can be maintained, we must look at the mathematical throughput and spatial reuse of modern Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN).
Spectral Efficiency: The latest 5G New Radio (NR) standards have a high spectral efficiency, delivering roughly (3) to (6\text{ bits}) per second per Hertz.
Total Per-Beam Throughput: For a (100\text{ MHz}) channel (the maximum standard carrier component), a single spot beam yields a peak capacity between (300\text{ Mbps}) and (600\text{ Mbps}).
Active User Allocation: If every user is actively streaming or downloading at exactly (5\text{ Mbps}) without sharing, a single beam can support (60) to (120) continuous, simultaneous users ((300\text{ Mbps} \div 5\text{ Mbps} = 60) users).

Scaling to the Whole Satellite:
Satellites multiply their capacity by reusing the same (100\text{ MHz}) bandwidth across tens or hundreds of spot beams directed at different geographic areas simultaneously (frequency reuse). If a high-throughput Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite utilizes 100 simultaneous beams, it can support between (6,000) and (12,000) simultaneous active users across the globe.

Whatever you do, don't ever voice your opinion

Especially if you're right or your idea is actually good. You'll either get punished for it or watch someone else take credit. Learned that the hard way. Just let leadership, your manager and above, wallow in their own bad decisions. None of it matters to you anyway.

RedLion Optimum Store Takeover

They aren’t even hiding it. Their LinkedIn profile is literally calling it the RedLion Takeover. How many Optimum stores are literally still in-house? The sad part is all the metrics show that the RedLion stores are doing better than the internal stores, but who knows if he could trust their numbers. Probably all fake to justify to takeover.

Corp Surveillance

Anyone else think corporate surveillance has gotten completely out of control?

Badge swipes trackd... VPNs tracked. Teams status tracked. Meetings in Calendar tracked. All emails scanned. Fu--ing Productivity Metrics... AI note takers in meetings nobody ever asked for.

Then leadership wonders why morale is unlived and nobody trusts mgmt anymore.

At this point I just assume every company laptop is basically a monitoring device with some work tools installed on it.

Microsoft Teams - Remote Employees, Get Ready

People are posting the same question all over the public channels: How is having Teams in addition to these other products saving us any money?

The answer is that it's not. First of all, Teams will replace pretty much everything eventually, but the reason Dan wants it in right this second is so they can effectively install spyware on every employee's computer.

Teams has insanely detailed tracking on keyboard/mouse usage, activity, time spent on computer, etc., and more importantly it rolls all that information up to people managers in nice, easy to consume dashboards.

Yes all of these things already exist in some form or fashion. But the information is fragmented, and managers don't currently have access to all of it. With Teams you get one centralized spyware platform that managers can easily access and consume.

I believe that the ultimate plan is to start culling remote employees by terminating for cause based on activity metrics to reduce headcount. Many other companies in the industry use teams to micro-manage and track remote employees, and many people are posting on forums like reddit about being terminated or written up for "7% decrease in activity levels".

USAA is trying to align itself with how the industry is controlling and targeting remote employees, and if I were one of them I would make sure I had a backup plan.

Train AI to replace you!

New focus on expanded documentation they say. Do they think we are id--ts? Just ask us to directly train the AI that is meant to replace us, why don'tcha?

They have brought in three bigwigs from Microsoft and Google - come on. We know what they are here for, and it is disgusting.

I hope folks see what's coming and prepare.

Panic in the disco

meta aint in no zombie era…its in panic mode. The times says meta is turning into Aol or yahoo, some old big internet comapny that used to be on top and now nobody cares. i beleive they kinda right, but they missing the real thing. meta dont know what it is no more. first zuck changed the whole name for metaverse and burned like $80b on reality labs. they told everybody vr meetings and cartoon avatars was the future, but nobody wanted it. horizon worlds had tiny numbers, avatars had no legs, and the whole thing looked d-mb. then ai got hot and meta definately jumped on that too, like they just chase whatever is shiny.

now they getting sued by publishers and an author for allegedly using pirated books to train ai. lawsuit says they knew the data was pirated and used it anyway. it also says zuck ki-led licensing talks cause if they pay to recieve even one book then it hurts their fair use story. so this aint seperate problems. its all one mess, wich is a buisness with no plan, just shortcuts and money burning. then u got reports of meta watching employee keystrokes and mouse movement to train ai agents that might replace them later. maybe that occured cause leadership is scared. no suprise regular workers get layoffs, stack ranking, rto pressure, bad morale, and fear while the top keeps funding zucks next fantasy.

EES

Management is harassing us to complete these surveys, but do these surveys actually change anything? I've also gotten mixed messages verbally on whether these are anonymous or parsed out. Is it worth it to be slightly honest on how to maybe help things improve or just keep it neutral. Just trying to maybe help improve things before leaving by EOY lol

PIP

I was rated on performance segment (Top/Core/Low) at the last performance review 2/2026 and informed today my manager I was put on a PIP following HR email.
Does a manager choose to put on on a PIP or his/her choice?

Useless company to work for. FIS vs META

Meta management was so professional in reducing workforce.

Direct RIFs. No Cognizant kind of gimmicks.

Immediate termination. No KT required.

FIS management is playing games with employees.. some given severance, some transferred to Cognizant to be eventually riffed.

Fake Fran and Cisco Beat

Fran faking her compassion and reading her statements tell you all you need to know about how much this C-Suite cares. Her and Mark sit in their posh million dollar homes and talk about cutting travel while they travel the world. The hypocrisy of this group is amazing as they continue to guard their stock price and protect their multi-million dollar payouts.

T - mobile & at&t begins operation in india

VZI completely collapsed, So many people's layedoff. Mostly band 7,8 . Management role are much secure and encrypted like any other role. While at the same time T mobile & ATT have expanded there operation with a lot of hiring.

Seems VZI going to be shutting down soon. As two Indian leader been shaked ( Shankar and Sampath.)

Realizing that a lot of management considered employees are so clueless self removerd

Besides people in positions considered management are very clueless.I mean this is contractor type ,engineering type,Actual managers.First all you need to see on here is employees who barely go to office or interact with anyone asking if there’s gonna be a strike still. Then you go in asking actually direct managers at all levels questions but they cannot answer anything. Then there is the group that won’t answer or make any decisions at all because they are either clueless or scared. My God company is such a disaster.Bad cell coverage losing customers left and right in all lines of business.I am glad I am at the end of it all ,I am also glad that I was never management as bad as the Union contracts may get over the years at least I can say as associates we have a clue starting to think the people in field are only ones floating the company anymore.Just rif all nonunion employees at this point let AI be my managers

Not just VP’s

Obviously a tiny part but heard that a Director and 2 AM’s got tagged earlier this week. Speculation is one of the AM’s got hit to save the Director a spot. When level bumping is being discussed it usually means things are getting real.

The Bank would have failed years ago…

Without the financial support of the rest of the organization, the bank would have ceased several years ago. This goes all the way back to General Joe, when the growth of the bank should have resulted in changes that were left ignored, resulting in the start of the consent orders. Then, through total mismanagement, the consent orders still remain after 6 years. Several large banks and insurance companies operate under a legacy IT structure even now, with all the downsides to that model. The bright idea of devolving back to that model here will undoubtedly ki-l the patient

New manager already said not to expect salary increase in the coming P. review. This will be the 6th year hearing this same massage....

Oh well, two previous managers said the same then happened a reorg, then the next manager said the same, then another reorg, now the new manager says the same. No Focal for a 6 years in a row.

Cigna is built for managers, not employees

You spend more time managing personalities and approval chains here than actually doing your job. Leadership still operates like it is twenty years ago, with constant micromanaging and politics attached to every tiny decision. Why does every simple task have to turn into exercises in control?

Manager effectiveness survey in June still???

The reviews are going to be devastating when the survey comes out immediately after managers are forced to deliver the SLT messages with a smile and keep opinions to themselves. The messenger is going to get the blame and I wonder if this is by design by SLT for justifying another round. My group has at least twice as many chapter leaders as we need if teams are going to become 10-25 people instead of smaller squads. What will happen to them all?

Who did this to us?!?!

Sales is only doing outbound calls with an automated dialer now…. Don’t know where incoming calls are going to…..Just voicemail after voicemail being left to sign up for VHI Lite internet. Are we trying to get a whole team to just quit at one time? Is that how we fix the return to office attitude? Are sales calls now going to the Philippines with horrible customer service? New PIP process will be epic by the end of them month if this is how it’s gonna be from now on. SMH.

A warning for anyone young and ambitious

If you are smart and you want to build a career, leave T. The managers don't know what they are doing, you aren't allowed to take any initiative, and the only path to success is making your boss and their boss happy regardless of whether you actually do good work. If that's your jam, so be it. But if not, just do yourself a favor and leave.

May 20 restructuring

  • Meta to transfer 7,000 staff to AI initiatives, eliminate managers
  • Layoffs and transfers affect about 20% of staff, Meta says
  • Employee backlash includes petition against mouse-tracking tech, now over 1,000 signatures
