Haven’t they heard that this particular phrase went out of fashion? They can’t even keep up with corporate fluff.

I’ve never had it this bad in 26 years, across several workplaces. I honestly don’t know whether this is WF or just exceptionally bad luck, but it’s almost impressive how many incompetent and petty people have been assembled in one place. What makes it worse is that every time layoffs hit, some of the last decent and capable people are the ones who get cut. Negative selection at its finest. It truly boggles the mind.

Even outside the broader workforce reductions, individual sites can be reassessed and cut out of the blue. That’s not exactly shocking or entirely new, but it certainly adds to the stress and anxiety. We already knew that employee well-being and basic consideration rank dead last, essentially nonexistent, at this wretched company. My thoughts are with the people who lost their jobs just ahead of Christmas.

CBU said at the end of the spring semester, the university will work towards a 12:1 student-faculty ratio by reducing around 16 full-time faculty positions.

How do we prepare for a sudden layoff?

We lose access to company sites and contacts. What should we save?

According to Volvo Group North America, the Hagerstown plant will be laying off 97 production technicians, effective January 5th. The plant, Volvo said in a statement, is adjusting “staffing to reflect ongoing weakness in the North American truck market.”

Amazon will lay off employees. A total of 84 workers will be affected. The layoffs will occur in Seattle and Bellevue. Impacted roles include engineering, recruiting, software development, and product management, affecting Seattle, Washington...

Anyone surprised?

Not just because jobs are being shipped overseas. It’s also because AI simply isn’t delivering. They can paper over the AI flop for only so long, and we all know who will end up paying the price for the brilliant idea of throwing massive amounts of money at the latest tech fad, which is unsurprisingly turning out not to be the miracle it was sold as. Leadership seems to know only one solution to every problem imaginable, including bad judgment in spending - more layoffs.

So my store was safe from those agent weirdos or whatever and that made me happy BUT Just found out we’re getting passed to another DM. That’s literally the fifth one in six months. Is this place actually a joke??
And of course, it’s her. She’s actually a total NPC. She acts like a robot and thinks leading by fear is a flex. It’s so so bad. She cares about nobody but herself.. I’ve  dealt with her before and it’s a nightmare.

To make All this even worse daily I hear is 'layoffs this' and more closures that.' Honestly? I hope this new whole giant district exposes these incompetent “leaders” so they can finally see what it feels like to be just a number. Thought about spamming Dan’s stupid feedback thing  but like he actually cares? Yeah right. Whatever. 2026 here we come

Then I’ll just put in less effort. I’ve always been responsible and usually gone the extra mile, including being available well beyond official hours. I’ve helped resolve plenty of crises and messy situations. But if this is how it’s going to be, I’ll simply stop being available after hours. I’ll coast until they lay me off. That’s probably coming anyway, for all of us, so why bother anymore?

Amazon is laying off 370 employees at its European headquarters.

Here’s what I got out of it:

1) There is a new corporate strategy called Lead to One that is about focusing more on the consumer and personalization. (Every 5 years we claim we’re now going to focus on the consumer, but don’t actually make any of the necessary investments and then abandon it. So excuse me if I’m highly skeptical.)

2) Our expenses are way too high and need to be drastically reduced. (We’ve been hearing that for many years and yet the same leadership that hasn’t fixed it is still in place. Where should the blame be placed?)

3) Layoffs will definitely continue. Evanko said we’ll have fewer employees next year than this year. (No surprise there.)

4) We’re counting on AI to be our savior and are going to push as many things to AI as possible.

5) The only business that is performing well is specialty pharmacy.

6) The VillageMD investment and our attempt at creating a care delivery strategy was a failure. (Even though it’s obvious, I’m glad they actually admitted that. Interesting that the failed MDLIVE acquisition wasn’t mentioned though. I guess we just don’t talk about that.)

7) We’re going to do more lobbying and public relations to try to control the narrative about Cigna.

Did anyone hear something different? What did I miss?

They mistreat employees and treat them like garbage all year and then thank everyone after layoffs too

expect several months worth of small, targeted little potshots and pruning to avoid more bad PR and WARN, etc. hopefully some bigger changes will come at the top level.

With 3+ years of layoffs, Voluntary Retirement packages, offshoring of headcount, and sale of Medicare business and headcount, how possible can Cigna cut deeper in 2026 while continuing to invest in healthcare transformation, care delivery quality, and technology? Math does not add up.

Layoffs have been announced in the next few months.

Chevron will continue to decline as long as the current crop of executive leaders are at the helm. They are simply out of ideas. The stock price has been moving sideways for years despite buybacks, cost cutting, acquisitions and divestitures, and layoffs. Our reserves impress nobody. Our projects still run over budget and over schedule. Exxon is eating our lunch.

The executives are desperate and all they can think to do is desperately flail at changing the window dressings and offshoring more work to cut costs, quality be damned and forget about increasing reserves or investing in exploration. They talk about AI hoping to ride some of that wave in the market but it’s just lip service at this point.

They forgot we’re an oil and gas company and now all of us peons have to pay the price for their lack of competent leadership and dereliction of duty. It’s going to get worse before it gets better - and it’s never going back to what it was. If you’ve got more than 5 years left in your career and have a decent alternative employment opportunity I’d highly recommend taking it.
