CIP - Make it Make Sense

Long time lurker 👀 , first time poster ✉️

Received my 2025 CIP payment today, which was graciously received. And it was only slightly less than my 2024 payment where I achieved mostly EEs.

Except the difference is that this was laid off end of July. And received my worst ranking during my time at Chevron.

So how does half a year of mediocre performance result in a bonus only mildly less than a full year of high performance — in a company that openly espouses paying for performance?

Please make it make sense. Doesn’t seem like a great strategy, but then I’m hardly qualified to assess such a thing from this side of unemployment.

Relocated to Dallas from Atlanta(Lenox Park)

In 05/2025 and was just let go. 10 months later. Thank God the family stayed in Georgia. I lived in a rat trap for the past 9 months to save a few bucks and protect against uprooting my entire family. VP kept asking me when's the family moving out? Packing up the car this weekend and heading home. Ingot problems and will have trouble finding something but thank god I didn't put my family through that.

The Latest Twist

Today and subsequent lays offs…. You will be offered a job, more than likely with reduced pay. IF you opt to not take offered job, Optum will not pay you your severance.
Is this even ethical?
Most households cannot survive if someone’s salary is much reduced. Most have to find a new job with comparable pay.
Withholding one’s severance they are entitled to when being layed off seems way wrong.
If they hadn’t layed so many off prior, they wouldn’t be losing their coin on all these severance packages. Just keeps getting worse and worse!

Layoffs

This company lays off so many people every year just know this technique to replace people using AI and if they let go people then they can hire new people to get tax incentives for buildings

Alameda County Intervenes in Health System Layoff Proposal

Alameda Health System faces a nearly $91.7 million budget deficit. This led to a plan for nearly 200 layoffs and program cuts. The Alameda County Board of Supervisors voted to review the plan. A working group will seek alternatives to the proposed layoffs. Anticipated federal Medicaid funding reductions contribute to the financial concerns.

Time for Charlie to Resign

Since Charlie Scharf assumed command of Wells Fargo, the company has deteriorated both from a macro and micro perspective. He has laid off staff, the stock has collapsed, and he lacks leadership skills and clients have suffered. Therefore, at the next townhall meeting, a vote will be taken and Charlie should be asked to leave. Then, the firm should be broken up into separate parts and sold. Enough is enough.

BNSF staging transportation for layoffs

BNSF is currently staging transportation department for layoffs, currently doing so under the guise of “business picking up” after just slashing corporate and management for the exact opposite reason. Currently recalling TY&E personnel, including loan outs, back to home terminals, while cutting all 675 and 674 voluntary furlough and ready to work boards, to gather accurate figures of where permanent cuts can be made. This is being done under corporate deception of business picking up, while directly misleading union officers and officials, so as not to cause purposeful disruption in rail services including premature taking of vacation days, exhausting boards, or “lay downs.” BNSF corporate has sent terminal and regional superintendents direct instructions to manufacture a list as to staffing totals, and how to cut total numbers by up to 20% in order to save BNSF 1.5 billion in the fiscal year 2026, with primary cuts occurring in this quarter. Take precautions as nothing only affects BNSF management at the railroad.

What is next

What does your crystal ball see? Mine

  • 2027 RIF
  • 2028 Richmond goes to a terminal
  • 2029 It's time to talk about increasing shareholder value - Split Upstream from Downstream etal. Separate companies; oh wait that's being discussed in 2026. Hi BR and others.
  • 2030 Why do we need people? AI can take over 50% of remaining jobs. Just needs a few oversight chums.

It just feels accountant driven to just maintain/survive - entrepreneurial spirit no longer exists. Growth is gone.
