I heard a rumor that there will be layoffs on July 15th, and then more on August 15th? Has anyone heard about this? Not sure if it's even true, or what departments.
Q2 earnings reports are expected to be on July 30th, so the July 15 layoffs would be ahead of that call. I overheard this information before the reports that the EU approval for the WBD acquisition is July 7th.
@1t9 Says who? You're presenting a lot of speculation as fact.
Historically, people impacted by layoffs at this company have always received severance packages. Severance isn't some concept that only exists because of RTO. Unless you're getting this directly from HR or Legal, I don't know how anyone can confidently state that future layoffs would be "unlikely" to have packages attached to them.
@1j8 Are you talking specifically about the package related to RTO? If so, no one would ever be in more than one round, so you only get one opportunity to take the package. Phase 1 people are the ones who are back in office currently and if you passed up the package, that was your only chance. Phase 2 seems to be split between some coming back and some getting pushed into a third TBD phase. Any future layoffs, such as those that happen after the WB merger, are unlikely to have packages attached to them, since that was specifically tied to RTO. (Note to those in the News/Sales divisions that apparently get frequent buyout offers, I was not referencing you in the post.)
Did anyone hear if you did not take the offer in the last round of layoffs you cannot take a package in the next round?
No layoffs will happen at a minimum until the acquisition is done. Nothing is planned right now but I expect by end of year.
