Getting less money in your budget next year? Should be no surprise, but expect more or less in the development world because of it. It’s a simple formula that the budget pays for salaries and if you have less money than you will have less employees eventually. Get the résumé out now!

• Some really big and jaw-dropping clients have now left BNY. The end is imminent (unless there is a merger, but even that is a short-term fix that will still be bad for employees).
• Offshoring to India is rampant and widespread. The goal is to make BNY America a satellite for BNY India: much cheaper cost of living and labor. Any and all mistakes they make are mitigated by the profit margin and low-risk overall point of view.

I just wish they would let people volunteer to be let go with severance. I’ve been at TMO (Lvl 7 in a headquarters role) for 10 years. There are very limited opportunities to change roles and even fewer opportunities for advancement. At this point, I’m ready to cut my losses and try something different as I don’t want to be miserable the rest of my working life or worse, be let go when I’m older when the chances of retooling or finding something else will be more challenging. At this point, regardless if I’m an active employee or not, my attention will be spent finding alternative options.

How many of you found jobs after BNY? How long did it take? What roles?

Do we feel like we finally have the swim lanes straightened out? Is this model going to get us to the top? Or is it a s-show slapped together with all of us plebs suffering through the chaos? The execs know, but it is acceptable from their perspective. We are expendable anyway.

I just got Met 1. Out of 7 on this week’s performance review and never had worse than 5 out of 7. The layoff is on.

I’m always amazed by people who act untouchable while cuts are happening all around them. Part of me wishes I had that kind of confidence. The other part is relieved that I’m realistic enough to prepare instead of being blindsided.

It is very frustrating to see job postings with the same title that were laid off in October. Why would I apply for this role, will it be offshored soon too? Thinking I will just take my severance and move on. I don’t want to get a new position in Cargill only to go through this again….

I can't tell how many total, but quite a few academic positions have been eliminated across all of the schools

Hey everyone. Ex-FR here from a PM Market, laid off beginning of the summer. just got the strangest text. My old boss has reached out to me and said that there is an open FR position. I’m curious if others have been approached due to people jumping ship or if because SMP didn’t go well and they need more hands on deck? Don’t think they can offer me enough that would bring me back after I’ve tasted freedom along with kicking me to the curb after 9 years out of nowhere.

I know it's not because people suddenly like it here and have decided to stop looking, but it says a lot about the state of the job market. I won't lie, it makes me nervous.

There’s no massive layoff wave in Wisconsin, but plenty of smaller and mid-sized cuts across different industries are creating a lot of uncertainty. If economic pressures continue, more job losses are definitely possible.

A lot seems to be happening, but there’s still no clear picture of how bad it’s going to get or who’s most at risk. HP feels completely directionless, and while I wouldn’t mind leaving or even being let go, the job market, especially for us, is awful right now. So yeah, I’m worried. The money has to come from somewhere.

First was after five years, and the second was under six months. I've only been here a little over three months, but my fear of layoffs is so strong it's turned into anxiety. I wouldn't have accepted this job knowing how often layoffs happen here if I hadn't been desperate in the current job market. I just feel so defeated by it all.

Someone I know discovered they were out only because their credentials stopped working mid-morning. No conversation, no thank you, not even a quick call. I never heard of something like this happening before. He has no reason to lie to me, though. This has me more worried than ever.

This whole thing is hanging over me like a storm cloud. I’d stress less if there were real job options out there, but it feels like there’s nothing to fall back on.

I was told that I can be on PIP next q. If I am on PIP, does it stay on my history incase of looking for another job or for anything in future? Also, can I use my PTO while in PIP?

No dedicated employee deserves to have their job threatened on a consistent basis for a year or longer. Leave them, they have no loyalty to you. There are better jobs. I went back to an old employer and I'm so happy again. I was miserable worrying over job security. Start looking at other companies and jump ship. Your mental and physical health will benefit. They don't care about you anymore and we all know they don't care about the customers. They are just focused on lining their pockets. Best of luck to you. You are worthy of an employer who values you.

I was part of the layoff in October, and I noticed today my position along with a couple others laid off on my team have been posted on Target’s career page. They made some slight adjustments but it is almost exactly the job I was laid off from. Has anyone else seen this or have any advice? It’s a little hurtful to be backfilled less than 2 months after being laid off…

over 2000 jobs gone in India. Many of the teams were keeping the lights on after the wider cuts and now those teams are slashed. I know some will have malice regarding those employees, but they are humans and deserve sympathy like the 13k already gone from other areas. Lets hope nothing bad happens in the near future as recovery will be next to impossible and the market knows it.

Is that certain? At least as far as anything can be certain.

In the aftermath of the cancellation of a major Navy contract, nearly 100 workers are being laid off from Fincantieri Marinette Marine.

Last week, the U.S. Navy announced it is ending the Constellation frigate program, thus canceling the remaining four ships that were supposed to be built in Marinette.

My service position was eliminated after 37 1/2 years! I was planning on retiring in a few years, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise! I landed a great job that respected my field service experience with far better pay! I wished Ricoh had laid me off years before!

The grass IS greener, if your not actively looking to leave Ricoh, you should be! I wasted way to many years in this dying industry.

I met him here before his 2023 layoff, and we ended up staying close even after he found a new job, only to get hit with another layoff six months later. He bounced back again and landed something new, and now he's been cut for the third time this week. He's living my greatest nightmare. How do you even deal with something like that? Can’t even imagine what this job will be like come next month.

So far the stress and workload has doubled as well as the quotas and that’s with our laid off coworkers still here
