I’m so exhausted and I just want out
I’m willing to take almost any other job, even one that pays less, just to be able to leave this place. Five years here have felt like ten anywhere else.
I'm worried about 2026
For the past decade, each year has been progressively worse than the previous one. And 2025 was already really, really bad. I don't dare think about what we might expect from this one. I've been praying for a new job, but having zero luck, so I guess I'll be forced to find out anyhow.
New Pension Estimates
I realize this post only applies to employees who were hired before 2008, because they've changed the way our pension is being calculated going forward. I just got around to looking at my new pension estimate for retirement and it decreased 57%. My pension was the one last thing I've been holding on to; really the only thing that was truly keeping me here. Now seeing my new pension number, knowing that giving 20+ more years would only add a measley amount - I have no reason now. Cheers to a new year and hopefully a new job!
Happy new year
Happy new year everyone hope yall have a successful year getting out of OT and landing an actual job in a better / good company. I would say great but even good is better than OT. I will be interviewing over next two weeks. Good riddance OT. They don't know what's going to it them in next week or so. Good luck OT "leadership" trying to fix this.
I wish you all a Happy New Year
May we all be happier, luckier, and less stressed. And may everyone who lost their job find something new and better soon.
Don't wait for a severance that might never come
Everyone needs to remember that severance pay is a gift, not a right. There's no law that forces a company to offer it when they let you go. If you're at Fidelity and waiting for a buyout package, you're gambling. You could end up in a crowded job market with no savings to help you transition. The smart move is to start your job search now, while you're still employed. Don't wait for a promise they're not obligated to keep.
My boss noticed me job hunting
I was researching job openings during work yesterday, and my manager walked over and saw my screen. She confronted me about it, and I denied it in the moment. Now I'm anxious about potential consequences. Could this actually get me fired, or just put a target on my back?
Anybody else struggling with still being here?
2025 was meant to be my exit year from Wells Fargo. I applied, interviewed, networked, and pushed as hard as I could. Now 2026 is basically here and nothing changed. To say it’s demoralizing would be an understatement.
Questions for those who've been RIFed before
From Verizon or anywhere else. What happens if you get a job right away, can you work at another place and still get your severance? On the opposite end of the spectrum, if the severance you got runs out before you are able to find another job, are you allowed to apply for unemployment?
Still unemployed
After eight months, I'm still looking for a job. I had a few promising interviews just to get ghosted in the end. I'm lucky because I have plenty of savings to be okay for at least another year, but I know so many folks who are not so lucky. These layoffs destroyed so many lives.
Look out for yourself first
The reality is Qualcomm doesn’t treat employees like people. If you get laid off, you’ll be off their radar immediately. If you stick around, you’ll just be expected to work longer, follow every rule, and stay quiet no matter what. Your well-being comes first. Start looking for a new role. Trust me, it’s worth the effort.
Has anyone been getting job offers?
After eight interviews, one of which went for five rounds, I still have nothing. I’m starting to develop a complex.
Why refuse jobs?
I keep seeing posts from people saying they can’t land a job, and I’m confused. So many who have been laid off seem to refuse anything that doesn’t feel perfect or exactly their level. How do you manage to be so picky if there’s no paycheck coming in? Do you think severance will last forever?
Nearly 1 million were laid off this year
In case people are wondering why the job market is so employee-unfriendly, with so many people laid off and looking for work, including skilled, high-quality candidates, it’s no wonder employers are lowering requirements and lowballing offers. Something tells me things will get worse before they get better.
Is anybody else dreading going into work?
Being away for a week only made me realize how miserable I am at Dell. I know I'll be tripling my job search efforts in the new year.
Good CL 28 and 29 jobs
I am so sick of my current role. Any good jobs out there for CL 28 and 29?
Over 200,000 federal jobs have been lost in Trump's first year in office
Just before Election Day 2025, the U.S. federal government employed approximately 2.3 million people. By the end of the year, it is expected to have shed approximately 213,000 jobs, according to the Partnership for Public Service.

Someone received diciplinary letter for not comming 3 days office - Part 2
because the disciplinary letter did not work, manager suggested to look for other opportunities since her entire team department got wiped out...
Unexpected motivation boost
It’s funny how uncertainty flips a switch. Suddenly my resume’s polished, alerts are on, and I’m paying attention again, looking for any opportunity to leave. Not exactly the motivation I wanted, but I’ll take it.
Merry Christmas
Don’t expect a new job opening until April or later. No be one is hiring.
RIFed Employees New Jobs
Have any of the other laid off employees been struggling to find work? I've had to start an Onlyf-ns. It isn't going great, but it is helping me buy food. If any other RIF employees also had to do this to survive let me know and maybe we could collab.
Change how you think about job searching
I stopped obsessing over salary and focused on finding something that actually interested me and let me grow my skills. Starting over isn’t easy, and I knew that going in, but the constant stress disappeared almost immediately. I’m learning new things, branching out in my field, and not dreading every workday. That alone has made the move worth it. It’s been a real breath of fresh air.
Jobs at Fidelity
I have applied over 90 roles at Fidelity, not a single call for interview and it comes back as they are moving forward with other candidates. If the company and specially hiring manager has someone in their circle or known group member to hire why post it and wasting my time. I like Fidelity culture, benefits, despite of their low pay scale as their 401k, bonus and other things make up of that pay
Have any of you had a positive experience with the job search?
I’ve been looking for another job for months now, partly as a precaution and partly because I really need a change. But it’s incredibly depressing out there. I’ve been genuinely trying, and I’ve managed to land a grand total of one interview. Has anyone had better luck?
New Job postings
We have like a crazy amount of Job Postings this past couple of weeks. Why would there be this much if they have layoffs in early January.
Severance pay timeline
First, I asked my supervisor and HR and no clear answer so I am asking here as many of you got severance. Does the payment come on normal pay cycle (6th, 21st), I was surplused in November and no check yet, I got denied unemployment because Company listed I got severance but nothing yet, bad time of year to have no pay, severance would help, job searching tough. Appreciate any input
Still looking after being laid off in the last round
Getting laid off made me realize how much time I poured into SAP, and now it feels like there’s nothing tangible to show for those years. Losing the job hurt, but losing momentum and watching skills stall or fade has been even worse, and every new ghosting after an interview just chips away a little more at whatever confidence I have left. It’s not fun on the outside.
Doubling down on the job search
That’s pretty much my plan for next year. This round of layoffs was highly motivating.
No help. No loyalty. No appreciation.
That’s Verizon in a nutshell. After everything that happened this year, I don’t know a single person who’s not desperately looking for a new job.
Invited to travel out of state for a job interview. Will my boss fire me if they find out?
I work in downstream engineering. The company Im interviewing with is in commodities trading. I’m not positive if I want this potential job or not, but I do want to do the interview and evaluate the potential offer. But for some reason I have this nagging that Exxon will fire me for looking at other jobs. Is that true or am I just being anxious?
Laughable
Y'all. Optum/UHG/UHC whatever you want to
call the entity is a giant joke. Utilize your benefits and get a new job lined up. Do not sacrifice a relationship with your spouse
or children or friends for some weirdos across the country or world behind a computer. I promise the grass is greener.
RA'd people Stay off LinkedIn
That place has become a toxic cesspool. Shady recruiters, Every other topic political and people posting whoaaa is me. I totally get their grief but It's only going to make you more upset and angry.
And these job postings. Probably ghost postings like on job boards. They post just to stay compliant.
And these stupid brain teaser games. Nobody want to see that cr@p.
LinkedIn is useless. It has become a stepbrother of Facebook
PFIZER - ROCHESTER MICHIGAN
A significant indication that the Rochester Michigan PFIZER site that produces global supply of penicillin may be closing next year. Long time employees were logging into INDEED.com to start looking for a new job right away
If you are young person, you need to look externally
Older folks can try to ride it out. But if you are younger person you need to look externally for opportunities. Going from 4.5 to 3.5 % is a ~23% cut on 401k match, plus any lost compound interest. Also factor in medical premium increases for next year. Your financial position is now worse, it doesn't make financial sense to continue here (which is obviously what they want so they have to pay less severance). Yea the job market is tight and not everyone can find another job, but financially, you owe it to yourself to look around as you are doing same work for less $. I am not even going to get into bonus and raises because we all know that will be close to 0.
End date for LCC
Feb 6 it’s over. Better be getting your resume together
More layoffs in Q1........
Better start looking for another way out.
Things are not looking good

I'm getting so tired of constant layoffs
I'm at the point where I'd pay for a new job. Or take a major pay cut. Anything just to get out of here.
