I heard from my colleagues that there was another round this morning. Anybody else heard about this?

Spoke with a supervisor who confirmed today that layoffs are coming and also added that layoffs will be for managers and stores. Also layoffs will will happen before Nov 20. It was indicated some managers will be gone before then. They had meetings today and word is they will know on Friday.

Last day 12/31… anyone feel like this is pointing to something larger?

Does anyone know what’s going on? I have a feeling there’ll be even more layoffs at the end of 2025 or early 2026. Also, what do you think of the new CEO?

Ugh today at DHK the rumors of layoffs are spreading again - that it’s going to be after the holidays in January. I don’t know if it’s true because people always talk a lot but last time the rumors were right.

If NYP did their job right and protected children and women from being as--ulted. I’m sure there would be no to fewer layoffs. God bless everyone in this time. We’re not just numbers we are people with real lives. Take care of each other and if anyone has more info keep us posted !

There’s been a huge uptick in troll posts the past 48 hours.

One poster uses the word “value” a whole bunch to oddly describe an unknown Verizon business segment.

Another keeps claiming huge moves, like Sampath being let go - which hasn’t been reported in any capacity.

Just remember, at this point the only thing we really know is that layoffs are coming and our new CEO seemingly pointed to the end of November (~Nov. 20th) as to when his new plan will be placed into motion. Everything else (% riffed, impacted workgroups, potential for VSP, etc.) is all hearsay.

Tread carefully, and know there are a large number of trolls running around getting a rise out of posting intentional misinformation…some of whom likely don’t even work for Verizon.

The mystery meeting is happening this Thursday! Nobody knows what it’s about, but the calendar invite came with no agenda and an unusually cheerful emoji from HR, never a good omen. Rumor has it the CEO will kick things off with some lighthearted jokes about the recent security breaches (classic comedy material!) and that tiny 30% drop in share prices last week. Just a “market correction,” right? Could be layoffs, could be free snacks, maybe both! It’s the corporate Hunger Games, but with spreadsheets. Bring your best smile. It might be your last official company photo.

Yes you heard it here first a high up manager confirmed.

Maybe people need to understand that one team could get hit at 30% and another at 15%. That doesn't make peoples posts a lie. It just means when they say 30% it may not be for everyone. Most Verizon employees have zero understanding of what goes on across the entire company.

If some layoffs still happen, I just hope it won’t be as massive as everyone’s been expecting. I need this job. We all do. At least until things get better. Then we can decide to hate it, change it, or move on. Right now, it’s a total sh-tshow out there. My family can’t afford even one of us being jobless for more than a month or two. So, fingers crossed we’ve been wrong all along.

So if rumors are true, looks like Boulben’s org is being hit hard. Deservedly so. I counted at least 20 AVP’ers and above. Seriously? For an org that really drove us to a lot of the issues we’re having. Kept raising prices and a lot of questionable value-prop decisions. If the trend continues, I applaud Dan’s decisions.

Haven't heard from Sampath since announce of nee CEO. Is Sampath on his way out? If so, would guess to think big changes for VCG and possibly even Sampaths baby Case Management??

Last week, I wrote an opinion about the current state of Verizon, as well as some of the moves it might need to make to right the ship. I also mentioned it seemed obvious that store closures would be part of this process and that Verizon’s situation would likely get worse before it got better. It seems this may be happening sooner rather than later, as rumors of imminent closures are flying around on online communities like Reddit and The Layoff. Likewise, a few publications have also picked up on the rumors, such as Phone Arena.

First, it’s important to be clear about this: none of the people I spoke to had specific details, only reports from their managers suggesting layoffs are on the way and likely to be announced on November 20. These cuts will reportedly include both complete store closures and staff reductions in locations that remain open. I also learned of an internal email from the new CEO late last month stating that the company will take “bold actions to make the company leaner,” which was similar to the remarks made during the company’s last earnings call. Like the previous call, the email offered no specifics.

From what little has surfaced, Verizon is expected to close underperforming corporate locations while “optimizing” those that stay open. The total number of affected stores remains unknown. There are also rumors that AI automation will play a larger role in the surviving stores, allowing them to operate with smaller staffs. For those unaware, this sounds somewhat similar to T-Mobile’s recent in-store changes that rely on T-Life.

Verizon has already embraced AI, so this part of the rumor isn’t all that surprising.

Earlier this summer, the company unveiled Project 624, an overhaul of its customer service using AI to streamline the experience. It also introduced an automated shopping tool that attempted to upsell me during a recent line addition for my son. Based on that, I’m skeptical that AI-driven retail changes will do anything other than accelerate the decline of Verizon’s brick-and-mortar business.

Further changes beyond closures and automation are possible, but we’ll have to wait until later in the month to know more. It’s also important to remember this is all rumor for now, and is subject to change.
