Refresco Beverage Plant Reimagined

Refresco Beverages has altered its plans for the Carlisle facility. The plant will now function as a distribution center. This change means fewer employees will face layoffs than initially expected. The company is repurposing the site instead of closing it entirely. This decision impacts the local workforce.

Visa layoffs hit senior ranks, including six VPs and 37 senior directors

Visa recently conducted a significant workforce reduction, impacting approximately 7% of its employees. This restructuring effort involved the elimination of around 2,600 positions across various levels of the company. The cuts included a notable number of senior roles, such as six vice presidents and 37 senior directors. Company leadership cited evolving work methods and the influence of artificial intelligence as key drivers for this organizational change. These layoffs occurred alongside the company's fiscal third-quarter earnings report and a substantial acquisition.

S And T org

With all the focus on productivity and transformation, should S&T also be looking at its own organizational structure?

As more infrastructure moves to cloud, the traditional I&O footprint is changing, but we still seem to have multiple organizations with overlapping responsibilities across I&O, Common Services, Tech Strategy, Deployment and Transformation. In some areas it is difficult to understand who actually owns the work versus who coordinates, governs or gets the visibility.

India Operations is another example where the operating model and accountability are not always clear. There is a perception that resource quality has declined and that PepsiCo is increasingly being used as a stepping stone, while it is not always clear how performance and outcomes are being monitored.

Common Services also seems to overlap with Operations and other teams, without a clear understanding of what it uniquely owns.

Maybe the bigger question isn’t just whether I&O should be consolidated. Should S&T be looking at simplifying its overall structure, combining overlapping organizations and reducing some of the senior leadership layers? If we expect the rest of the organization to become leaner and more efficient, shouldn’t S&T be asking the same question about itself?

CE Custody (now Fid Wealth)

Big Town Hall tomorrow being given by top leaders of CE Custody, now part of Fid Wealth. Anyone have any idea if it’s anything different than the usual upper management patting themselves on the back for the work that beyond burnt out depressed associates are doing and how low they keep expenses? Maybe some announcement about changes due to being a part of lovely Fid Wealth?

“New organizational structure” meeting on 8/12

Just got an all staff meeting invite for 8/12 titled “new organizational structure” with absolutely zero context. I’m just waiting out my VSP end date so I’m good with whatever happens but I would be spiraling so hard if that wasn’t the case.

Any other health plans getting similar meeting scheduled? I’m wondering if the 12th is “the day” for layoffs everywhere or just in my state.

Leidos Cuts Indirect Roles

Leidos has issued layoff notices to 305 employees, primarily affecting indirect positions. These reductions are part of organizational changes aimed at improving efficiency and future growth. Some affected employees are expected to be reassigned to direct billable roles. This move appears to be a targeted restructuring rather than a broad workforce reduction. It reflects ongoing adjustments by government contractors to overhead costs.

National Geographic Executive Departs Amid Disney Cuts

Charlie Parsons, SVP Development at National Geographic, has been laid off as part of broader Disney workforce reductions. Parsons had a tenure of over 15 years with the factual brand. He was involved in producing prominent titles such as One Strange Rock and Hostile Planet. The layoffs affected nearly 100 employees across Disney Entertainment Television. National Geographic experienced significant impact from these organizational changes.

Things are getting weird….

Has anyone else had constant org changes, and it’s not all adding up? As we approach the next layoff round, it’s getting very eerie around here. I’m a bit scared. However, it also doesn’t make sense to do all these org changes only for us to be laid off. I can’t make sense of it.

Southwest Airlines Faces Layoffs Amid Record Growth

Southwest Airlines is reportedly considering layoffs despite achieving record revenue and earnings growth. The airline cited rising fuel costs and a need for organizational efficiencies as reasons for potential cost-cutting measures. This follows a previous layoff of 75 employees in May due to restructuring. The company is refining its organizational structure to simplify processes and streamline decision-making. Despite significant fuel expense increases, Southwest experienced strong customer engagement and record memberships.

CXO org

Just my opinion, but after the last organizational shake-up, I wouldn’t be surprised if history repeats itself.

One question I keep coming back to: A.C. championed the “ways of working” in the previous CXO organization. Has anyone objectively looked at whether those same approaches may have contributed to some of the challenges the organization faced?

Hopefully the new organization has a different outcome—but time will tell. 🍿

Every Company Has Its Reckoning

There’s a journalist quietly speaking with former Nike employees about their experiences during the John Donahoe era.

If the reporting is thorough, the sources are credible, and the facts can be independently corroborated, it could become a very significant account of that period in the company’s history.

If you spent years feeling ignored, marginalized, or mistreated, consider sharing your experience. Organizational cultures are ultimately defined not by the messaging they produce, but by the experiences of the people who lived them.

SE > AE > LR

Are SEs going to become AEs and AEs will become LRed?
Seems that way to me with the direction of tech. Teachings sales to engineers is easier than teaching engineering to sales ppl. With agents, I see a push to consolidate this to a single role. sink/swim ppl. An overlays and CX...good luck survirving Agentic-pocolypes

nearly 2 weeks to go !

MO advised that the company will commit to providing a date by the end of July to confirm whether roles are impacted by the new organisational design. Has anyone heard any intel on numbers, percentages, or which parts of the business are mostly impacted? It all seems very quiet… the calm before the storm.
