Job losses in Northern Virginia increased by nearly 50% this summer compared to the previous year. This rise was largely due to layoffs at General Dynamics and Bechtel Power Corporation. Suggestion for future layoffs.
People at executive level should be targeted due to poor performance and outages.
As a member of the dwindling on-shore technical staff, the most recent events have caused us so many headaches at the Global Operation Centre.
I have very little confidence in our off-shore tech staff and constantly have to bail them out of trouble. While most of them probably mean well, those staff lack real training, are paid a fraction (apparently around 10%) of what we are paid in Australia and most don't seem to have any pride or purpose in the work that they do. Many of them have told me privately that they would prefer to migrate to Australia so they can earn a better salary.
Instead of sending jobs overseas, the company should be employing more local school leavers.
I am hoping to be made redundant soon. I have maxed out my redundancy payout.
How do you stay sane?
I'm doing three times the amount of work than I did when I first joined because we lost so many people, and I'm about ready to break. They keep adding things and don't give a damn whether I have the time to do it, not to mention energy. If I could, I'd leave today.
CDW Layoffs
CDW reported Q2 2026 net income of $274 million, while carrying a substantial debt load of $5.82 billion. Areas to watch: leverage, cash & credit rating. CDW's debt increase continues to balloon, with cash flow dropping from $443M to $220M.
I made an incredible transition out of Cisco
I started a McDonald’s franchise where I get steady yet decent income. I no longer stress about layoffs. I just hope you guys can come to my McDonald’s buy my Big Macs!

Any more upcoming layoffs that you know of?
That would be the post. Anxious. I hate this instability.
Flying 100+ people for FLAA while cutting 200+ this week
Not a wise decision to bring 100+ people to Norwalk from across Asia, Europe, Americas while cutting HC, going through more layoffs this week, removing food and snacks and cutting back on real estate.
Who made that decision? L&D? 95 HC in L&D organization
Oct layoffs
I’ve been hearing rumors that there may be layoffs happening sometime next month, possibly in October. Has anyone else heard anything about this or know if there’s any truth to it?
Really hoping these are just rumors and nothing actually happens.

With all the cuts happening...
did ur project stop? Did deadlines slip... roles move sites, responsibilities consolidate, or did ur team absorb the reduction w/out (major) disruption? I think it's a sh-tshow but it may be just me - we are fairly large and given the messages on this board it looks like there is quite a bit of variety.
Layoff Impact
If you or someone on your immedate team was affected in Sept... what org, function, location, and job level was involved?
It'd be great separate firsthand information from something you heard.
Wait… Who’s Grading the Board? Layoffs Downstairs, Golden Parachutes Upstairs
We talk constantly about management accountability, but what about the board?
After years of strategy changes, executive churn, restructurings and layoffs while approving significant executive compensation and crazy separation arrangements how should shareholders evaluate the board’s record? Why cutting huge amounts of staff many needed (some not), changing roles with our prep or training for the remaining staff to absorb your choices all while overpaying bad leaders you chose to leave?
Where does management accountability end and board accountability begin?
Wild times at KPMG US - Marketing
As some may know, KPMG US is making significant cuts to its Marketing organization — voluntary and involuntary. After many years here, one thing has never been clearer to me: the level of politics and cattiness on certain teams has been nothing short of corrosive.
I've witnessed director-level incompetence that makes you question how some people got the job in the first place. I've seen talented people made victims of passive aggression that quietly blocked their path to promotions and compensation they'd earned. And I've watched "fearless leaders" reward loyalty to them over loyalty to the work.
Plenty of those people are being shown the door this week.
I spoke with someone who felt impacted by one of those exits. What they said felt like a perfect microcosm of what's been happening:
"When the new head of APEX came in, I was genuinely excited — I thought we'd finally start operating like a real agency. But over time, that excitement faded. Processes were added, sure, but nothing that truly moved the needle. When we needed someone advocating for innovation, we'd find her on calls obsessing over window motifs or talking poorly about some of the most talented people on the team.
She reportedly told other higher-ups that the only Black man on the team was 'hard to work with' — which, if you know him, is laughable. A he-l of a lot of us would say the exact opposite. It's also a label that carries a particular weight when put on a Black man in a corporate environment, and that's not something you can just gloss over.
When I found out she got let go, my only surprise was the timing. When your job is to make a difference and all you've managed to spread is drama — it's only a matter of time."
It appears brighter days are ahead under new leadership — but I hope the directors exiting this week take this moment for genuine self-reflection. There is real room to grow, both as leaders and as people.
One last thing this person said — and I think it's worth putting on record in case a hiring manager comes across this:
"It's a damn shame they let Rick [Lavoie] go. When there was nothing but confusion, he was the one higher-up who showed up with answers and solutions. I can't count how many times I wished he was the one leading APEX. That was a leader worth following."
Truck Maker Slashes Production, Workforce
Freightliner is significantly reducing its manufacturing output and laying off nearly 4,000 employees across North America. This decision stems from an anticipated 25% decrease in heavy-duty truck sales for the year. The company will eliminate third-shift operations at several truck and parts plants. Weekend shifts will also be discontinued at a parts facility. These cuts represent an 18% reduction in production and affect approximately 19% of its North American workforce.

Cy-Fair ISD Faces Funding Hurdles for Librarian Reinstatement
Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is grappling with the potential restoration of 50 librarian positions eliminated due to a significant budget deficit. While a new school board majority has reversed book bans and restored curriculum, librarian roles remain unfunded. A proposed tax increase and bond measure in November offer a potential avenue for funding these positions, but their inclusion is not guaranteed. The success of these measures is crucial for addressing budget shortfalls and potentially re-establishing vital library services for students.

9/24/26 layoffs & October layoff date.
Please only reply with factual information. Are we expecting any layoffs for this Thursday with expecting a big layoff in October? And do we have a date for October? Areas/teams to be hit? All grades? Optum/UHC/CHC employees? I know its the last quarter and it can be rumor mill on this site, so don't always like to get worked up over nothing, but also can't change what's going to happen.

Seattle Tech Sector Faces Persistent Job Cuts
Smaller, frequent layoffs are impacting Seattle's technology industry, contributing to a significant slowdown. These consistent reductions are quietly eroding the economic foundation that has driven the city's expansion. State filings reveal numerous layoff announcements affecting local workers throughout the year. The cumulative effect of these cuts is a notable decrease in information sector jobs. This trend signals a substantial shift for the traditionally high-growth tech industry.

No more site managers?
Is it true they laid off all the site managers, or field operation techs, or whatever they call them now?
What changes would you make?
It seems like there are senior leaders that peruse this site. If they were to ask your feedback about the upcoming org changes and layoffs what would be your recommendations?
I have a bad feeling. Is it just me?
Since the onset of all these recent changes, reduction in workforce, and major leadership shifts we have seen so many changes in the organization. With the way they are shifting away from the normal process for formulating our campaigns and it makes it look like they’ll likely start purging people from Marketing and Demand Generation based in this new model they are leveraging. I do not feel like I have job security. To speak candidly, I was more cautiously optimistic prior to this and now I am legitimately worried for me and fellow coworkers. Am I the only one that feels this way? I can just feel there’s going to be another round of layoffs before the end of the year. Thoughts?
when outsourcing agency tries to sell you your old Cigna Job
(the post keep disappearing, hopefully it works this time)
This might be entertaining to some.
A friend of mine was interviewing for a new role and got asked 3 specific questions: why he left his previous job at Cigna, and if he still had a good relationship with them. Then interviewer asked why he thinks Cigna laid off a lot of people and the friend told them about HIH and how most Cigna IT jobs moved to India.
The interviewer explained that they were building a US-based team specifically for a Cigna client account, and he would need to interact with them regularly.
The funny part is, my friend’s skillset is highly niche, and Cigna only has one specific team that uses this tool. When the interviewer started laying out the specific systems he'd be maintaining, my friend casually replied, "Yeah, I was one of those who built those."
The agency was unknowingly trying to hire him back into the exact same team he had just left.
Anyone with similar experience. Is Cigna finally realizing their mistakes?
Pulse = Another Round
Anyone else feel like a VZ Pulse Survey is just an indicator that another round of RIFs and restructuring is coming? I’d guess, from the timing, that an announcement will happen in October with severance dates effective December/January. I have no proof, other than historical rounds following survey these last couple years.

Nothing says "we are proud of our flexibility" quite like the threat of collective punishment.
What a joke. I'm fine with the 3-day RTO enforcement, but not counting holidays as in-office is a kick in the teeth, for sure.
The corpo-rat doublespeak is glaring. Sure, "we are proud of the flexibility of our hybrid model," BUT here are a lot of things making it as inflexible and inconvenient as possible. Also, "most colleagues adhere to the requirements," BUT we felt the need to hit everyone with brutal collective punishments.
I don't know who believes this cr-p; they are not even trying anymore.
