Optum Real Crew

[The arena is packed, the crowd is roaring, and the spotlight shines on the ring. A muscular wrestler with a flashy outfit grabs the mic, flexing his muscles.]

Wrestler: "Listen up, all you fans out there! This is a shout out from your pals at UHC, the champions on the blue side of the house! And let me tell you, we’re fed up with this Optum quagmire, brother! It’s time to shake things up!"

[He paces the ring, pointing at the audience.]

Wrestler: "That’s right! UHC is bringing back the Super Connectors, and we’re gonna give it all away for FREE! You heard me, folks! FREE! No more waiting around, no more games!"

[He raises an eyebrow, leaning closer to the camera.]

Wrestler: "Now, I don’t know if this big announcement is gonna drop before or after the next earnings, but mark my words—there’s a major cut coming to Optum! They won’t know what hit ‘em!"

[He gestures dramatically, as if flipping a switch.]

Wrestler: "And our inside girl? Oh yeah, she’s in the orange room, ready to turn off the lights on this whole operation! It’s time to shine a spotlight on the real champions, and that’s UHC, baby!"

[He flexes again, the crowd erupts in cheers.]

Wrestler: "So get ready, because we’re coming for you, and we’re bringing the heat! UHC is here to dominate!"

[He drops the mic, striking a pose as the crowd cheers. UHG CFO body slams OI CEO and people rush the ring.]

Offshoring

TLDR: Offshoring is tanking the company, layoffs are coming monthly, and the whole thing’s about to implode. Brace yourself.

The tribal knowledge that execs are wiping out with all this offshoring is priceless and irreplaceable. I know a lot of US-based teams that have been hit by the recent layoffs, many of them who worked directly with clients. I feel for them, and I feel for the clients too—they have no idea how quickly this company is falling apart from the inside.

According to a solid resource involved with HR, they’re planning to lay off 200-250 people every month. I’m definitely looking for jobs outside of the company because the writing’s on the wall. Soon, there won’t be anyone left in the US except the execs, a few critical infra folks, and CSMs/SRMs to keep the facade that everything’s fine.

This whole company is running on siloed legacy infrastructure, and once the people who actually know how everything works are gone, it’s just a matter of time before catastrophe strikes—something that’ll make the Capital One incident look like a joke. The world’s largest payment processor is on the edge of imploding, and most people have no idea what’s coming. The crypto bros will be celebrating their "black swan" moment.

Interesting Market Reaction to More Human

While the initial reaction may seem positive, looks like investors are wondering why TD pays so much for marketing execs and brand campaigns that are incongruent with reality. TD is not More Human, in fact, internally it is less human than ever.

FIS Belgrade Office

Does anybody knows what is going on there? They fired the main guy (which is good :D) he was a je-k and bunch of people. My understanding would be from my friends that company there is in chaos, a lot of people planning to leave. (a lot of people left cuz of the bad local management) Anybody has inside info what is going to happen wh-t the office?

Org changes

Several Q1 org changes appear to be in progress and are yet to be announced. The announcements are expected tomorrow. It also looks like Marrs is moving back to the U.S. Please share any changes you’ve observed within your org.

The reason for his departure…

…stock options are vested and under water.
Expect more.

“Christopher Smith, who has led Ford’s global efforts on legislation, regulation and government policies worldwide since 2022, is expected to depart the automaker, according to people familiar with the plans who asked not to be identified revealing internal matters. The reason for his departure is unclear, though one of the people said it’s expected within weeks.”

Relocation

I work in a part of FI that is now a part of Fidelity Wealth (yet we’ve been given no direction or concrete info). Anyone heard of upcoming relocation pushes away from Smithfield? The 900 building/traffic/parking garage is a complete disaster and no one cares. Wondering if they’re looking to reduce headcount there.

For Mike….

You asked what our obstacles are so here are a few that are slowing us down

  1. Jira - we spend more time trying to please the Jira g-ds than we do on development. It doesn’t work. Maybe it was good at JPMC, but not here.

  2. Fortify - nothing like remediating a bunch of false positives

  3. Language barriers - there are very few Americans on project calls. We can’t understand the Ind*ians and they don’t know our systems or products

These are just a few. Please feel free to chime in with more.

Poor Execution

Good luck, Dan, trying to dazzle customers and grow the customer base—you can’t even take care of your internal customers! I still can’t access the severance portal, even after HR intervention. At this point, it’s laughable. Once again, Verizon fails to execute anything correctly.

Were some people asked to re-interview for their own positions in the last round?

An acquaintance said he was asked to interview for his own position, but he already had something lined up and refused. He was one of the lucky ones who actually wanted to be cut. But is this something that happens? I don’t understand the point of it. I don’t see why he’d lie to me, but I honestly can’t figure out why they’d do that.

Another sleepless night on the way

Sundays are the worst when it comes to any hopes of restful sleep. Another surprise meeting? More changes (discussed secretly for months) out of the blue? Continued silence in reply to repeated pleas for explanation or help?

I’ll be gone soon. Until then, I’ll continue enduring the Loki-driven whack-a-doodle nonsense.

What's going on in Customer Remediation?

Or corporate compliance in general? All the leading stakeholders (CR director, program manager, compliance specialists, fair & responsible banking leaders, etc.) have mysteriously exited the bank and now I just saw someone post that CQA is pulling out of the program too. Seems like the whole program is being redesigned as nothing more than a window dressing.

Used to do some CR reporting and thought about applying for one of their recent openings but something shady seems to be going on in the 2nd line CR team but no one is talking about it. No different than any other area I guess. Just buyin' some time until I can make my exit too, but can't take much more of my current team/manager. I'm afraid there is no greener grass to be found anywhere at this bank.
