I know some people who relocated when their unit got sold who now regret it. I still think it's better to have any job than no job, to be honest.

Nurses not valued
Nurses working at Humana are NOT valued. Simple but true statement. The Nurses in upper management in the Utilization Review area are clueless regarding UR but wonderful actresses playing like they know the jobs and care. They care only for themselves and their careers. Since centralization it has been a sh-t show and circus and it continues. Change of hours with no consideration of the nurses , impossible metrics and horrible PTO policy. More change coming is the news I hear. Work life balance? Not at Humana.
You might be safe only if:
• You hold "Tribal Knowledge": You are the only person who understands a specific legacy database script that would break the entire project if you left.
• You are willing to Relocate: If you are remote but offer to move to a Hub (e.g., Waterloo or Gaithersburg), they might keep you.
• You are "Cheap": If your salary is significantly below market rate, you might fly under the radar.
Bumping this from @ac+1kfv3g2sk, I think this gets it right.
Linkedin BS
Pure sick looking at LinkedIn and everyone's promotions nearly all VP, Senior VP, Directors and Senior Directors. Not saying theyre not deserved I'm sure some of them are, but when you sit in a location closing later this year, knowing that other locations in the UK and Ireland closing, seeing people boasting (the same people who work from some of these locations but know their jobs are safe) its just disgusting.
Exceeds history → Meets this year with INCREASED work. Are they forcing us out?
Long-time IC in Controls. Exceeds (or Consistently Exceeds) for years – same leader, same scope, volume, quality, and achievements - the language that used to get Exceeds is now documented as Meets/“High Meets” (which means nothing, makes you nothing, but a su---r).
Boss said no one on the team got Exceeds. Several big items completed in Q3/Q4 “won’t count until next cycle” per manager although that’s not what I was told at mid year.
Meanwhile, folks doing bare minimum (some barely in office) also get Meets, and some lower-in-range are getting raises while high Meets/higher-in-range get $0.
Hearing this is widespread forced calibration / distribution in Controls areas – entire teams capped, downgrades from Exceeds to Meets/IM despite no performance drop. Some threads mention 10% forced IM ratings, RTO used as excuse for lowers, and budget issues hitting higher-paid/long-tenured folks hardest.
Question for others in similar boat:
• Is there any meaningful recourse? (e.g., formal dispute through HR/ethics line – has anyone actually gotten a rating changed or it backfired?)
• Does this feel like a way to push out top performers/high earners (maybe to manage comp costs or make room in layoffs)? Or just calibration gone wild this year?
Not looking to rant endlessly – just trying to understand if fighting it is worth it or if it’s time to dust off the resume.
Ok now this is funny.
There’s articles out there now that mentions future layoffs at Citi if you can imagine that but the twist on it is that it mentions focusing on MD and directors as the target.
The funny part is that before these articles this board was littered with, in my opinion, manager and HR replies heckling other people’s posts or cheerleading Citi as an awesome place that its not so bad on and on.
Now since those articles, you don’t hear all of that rhetoric. I guess since they are now on the chopping block, its a different story. Its all quiet now from those people. I mean, what’s changed? Where did all of the Citi cheerleaders go?
Any VACCN layoffs ?
Management or just the real workers ? Where?
Rick Rieder’s Commitment to America
With Rick Rieder poised to become the next Federal Reserve Chair, the direction of U.S. economic policy is no longer ambiguous. He has stated repeatedly and publicly that the American job market must be protected and strengthened, and that current interest rate policy has already harmed job creation for American workers. This is a clear signal that domestic employment is now a top national priority.
If BlackRock truly stands by its claim that it “cares about America,” then this moment demands action—not slogans. Corporate patriotism must be reflected in hiring decisions, especially at a time when millions of capable Americans are seeking stable, well-paying jobs.
BlackRock currently employs a substantial number of H-1B visa holders in roles that do not require rare or irreplaceable skills. These are jobs that qualified American workers can and should be doing. Continuing to rely on foreign labor in such roles directly undermines the stated goal of strengthening the U.S. workforce and suppresses opportunities for American citizens.
The conclusion is straightforward: BlackRock should phase out foreign workers in roles Americans can perform and fill those positions with American workers. Anything less is inconsistent with both the priorities articulated by the incoming Federal Reserve Chair and BlackRock’s own claims of commitment to the United States.
If BlackRock wants to be seen as aligned with America’s economic future, it must put American workers first—clearly, deliberately, and immediately.

I was laid off, and I feel relieved
I was so fed up with the work and the constant anticipation of losing my job that I'd lost any motivation to work extra-hard. And I constantly felt guilty about it. As if being a hard worker would've made any difference. We all saw today that being good at your job means literally nothing. Anyway, I'm off. Good luck to everyone. The only good memories are the nice coworkers I met along the way.
Friday Massacre
Taking the chance to work for this company was the worst experience of my career. I feel terrible for the amazing leaders we lost today, I am sure my role is next. Onward and upward.
The reason for his departure…
…stock options are vested and under water.
Expect more.
“Christopher Smith, who has led Ford’s global efforts on legislation, regulation and government policies worldwide since 2022, is expected to depart the automaker, according to people familiar with the plans who asked not to be identified revealing internal matters. The reason for his departure is unclear, though one of the people said it’s expected within weeks.”
Really sad day today
Just a devastating day , esp in OH where rumors said 25% got cut. Lots of tears and sadness. Some people left for the day after they found out (don’t blame them). Hopefully those impacted get back on their feet soon. For those who survived , I think the question you need to analyze is will you be on the chopping block in next round?
Take care of yourself and don’t let this moment define you as it was out of you control.
Stressed at work ? Buy a Samsung/Apple watch , log your stress levels, show that to a judge
Got a smart watch and I am logging my manager induced stress
That will sit nice in front of the judge at the end, next to my records showing pressure and various tactics meant to side track me.
I am just waiting for them to make the move
NYC: Metro Opera Layoffs
Metropolitan Opera Reduces Staff, Programs Amid Budget Woes
The Metropolitan Opera announced layoffs and pay cuts. These measures address fiscal pressures from the COVID-19 pandemic. The company seeks new revenue and expects full pay restoration by August 2027.

NSHE Regents Consider Tuition Increases to Prevent Layoffs
https://www.rgj.com/story/news/2026/01/23/nevada-tuition-jobs-regents/88296619007/
The Nevada System of Higher Education Regents are takin in consideration tuition and fee increases. This plan aims to prevent layoffs and service cuts across campuses. Temporary state bridge funding is set to expire in 2027. The proposed increases would phase in from fall 2026 through the 2028-29 school year. Without these increases, about 300 positions and services are at risk.
Reductions could lead to layoffs (Laramie, Wyoming)
President Ed Seidel of UW spoke out against proposed budget cuts.
- Lawmakers' budgeting committee proposed a $40 million reduction to the university's block grant.
This reduction is almost 11% of the school's state block grant.
Seidel warned these significant reductions could lead to layoffs. The Wyoming Freedom Caucus supports these cuts, citing concerns over "woke education."

PluralSight being used to get rid of people?
Is the PluralSight training and assessment tool going to be used to fire people? I have a technical category that may have fit my job description when I got out of college but doesn't really reflect what I spend the majority of my day on. Now I spend my days in meetings or navigating the labyrinth of policies, procedures and tools FIS requires. I've always had good reviews but now I have a feeling, I will be substandard. Is anyone else paranoid?
The obvious
Zuckerberg paid 1 hire $1.5 BILLION.
Then laid off 600 long-term employees.
The hire? Andrew Tulloch from Thinking Machines Lab, an AI research monster.
This just reinforces the obvious:
Companies do what’s best for them.
Here's what I noticed when working at Nokia Networks:
You’re a cell in a spreadsheet with a dollar value attached.
They highlight your row, hit delete, and you’re gone.
A state of constant stress and instabilility.
The worst part?
The leadership team enjoyed it:
During headcount meetings I heard a VP utter:
"cool they'll work harder with the news"
So do what’s best for you.
Build something you own.

Moonshot Games Reduces Staff to Support Wildgate

Moonshot Games confirmed employee layoffs to media outlets. This decision aims to continue supporting their game, Wildgate. The parent company, Dreamhaven, released a statement regarding the changes. Wildgate's recent Epic Games Store launch did not sustain the entire development team size. The studio plans future content updates for the game, including a progression system.
50 odd SVP's promoted to Dir's in the Enterprise Data Office?
Amidst layoff's? LOL. Given the number of D promotions, did I somehow miss the closing of the data articles within the consent order? Some of the names on the promotion list to D...laughable. Zedro knowledge of anything even remotely related to data governance, but they excel in bootlicking for sure.
Amarillo Hosts Job Fair for 1,700 Tyson Employees
Tyson recently laid off over 1,700 workers in Amarillo. This sudden change drastically impacted the local job market. Workforce Solutions Panhandle and the City of Amarillo are hosting a job fair. This event is specifically for former Tyson employees. It offers a chance for face-to-face interviews with hiring managers.

You need to report h1b visa fraud if you see it
If you are still employed here, and not on a Visa, it's probably not for long. You can do something to stop or even reverse it though. Aggressively report any perceived visa abuse below, even if you're not 100% certain. The future of your career literally depends on reporting these people as it's only going to get worse from here

John Steven’s (RIP) Consumer Layoffs
Was anyone from this org able to stay as a remote employee? Seems like this org’s layoffs really hit remote workers hard. Some very talented and hard working people were let go from this org.
MSU Call Feedback
So far, who’s buying this BS ???
Same old CSA marketing vomit being upchucked. Camera & copier story but your here to support other groups ? Thanks for another original idea Marketing. It’s amazing how you all can continue to get promoted and paid more for the same old stuff.
This is your sign
This is your sign to leave if you are an individual contributor at Medical Solutions (non-management role).
I can't begin to describe the abusive and manipulative workplace they have created since 2023 after layoffs.
What they say and do is not normal, how they treat you is not normal, what they expect of you is not normal.
My life has been infinitely better since leaving. My work valued, expectations lowered, raises higher (no 2% raises there are not normal), wages higher.
Your 5-9 or really even during your 9-5 efforts should be focused entirely on getting out of that place. If you land a remote job double up and milk them until they fire you for as many paychecks as you can.
In case you missed it med sol is a valued as a CCC company by the investment firm (the kind of $h.it that crumbles in recessions).
I'll say it in layman terms: they do not care about you and will lay you off the first chance they get because it pads their bottom line.
There are thousands of other companies that will value you more than this place. Get out and let your managers who have been ordered to manage you out to deal with the stress of manufactured urgency they have created.
This is your sign.
More "How We Work" letters coming..?
So, where are all the letters that they talked about for the rest of the employees that did not get any 2 weeks ago....???? They were supposed to come out today 1/23/26.......
Switching to another bank/competitor
Hi all, I got an offer at another big bank/competitor. As a VP in risk/controls department, I see that I am required to give a 30 day notice period. Anything less and I will lose my RSU and will be ineligible for rehire.
What is likely to happen if I disclose that I am switching jobs to a competitor and I give my 30 day notice? Will they let me go on the spot, or will they let me finish out my 30 day notice period?
Layoffs
Another round of company wide layoffs today
HouseCalls, are we safe for today?
So far haven’t heard anything from the East Coast. Is everyone ok?
WF Cares So Little of Their Employees…
…that with the inclement weather expected to shut down the southern half of the United States this next week, rather than doing the right thing and allowing employees on the 3/2 hybrid schedule to just work remote, if there is a building closure due to inclement weather, it does NOT count as an in-office day and employees are expected makes arrangements to fulfill their in-office requirement!
If they think so little of employees during weather (safety) related office closures, what makes you think they have your best interests at heart for anything else? This is the straw that broke the camels back to motivate me to find a new job elsewhere…anywhere! Wow, just wow!
Best thing I did was leave NOV
I was a part of NOV for 15 years. I made it up the management ladder.
I loved what I did for many years. Until the internal split the company made in 2012 or 2013. An accountant was put over our business unit. That was just stupid. so was bringing back the yes sir man back from Singapore
It all went downhill from there. the hardest decision I made was to leave my product line.
Now few years later I am happy and I am so glad I made the jump. I would recommend anyone that is currently employed with NOV get out while you can. The ship is sinking
lol the ship has already gone down. Counting down the days until you get laid off is not the way to live.
In 2008
I was told you train at NOV and when you decide you want to make real money you leave. Its not just about the money, but that is true.
The stress relief is the best part. No one telling me to do more with less.
I wonder when will it be enough
I guess they 're hoping all of us will be willing to do jobs of three to four people to keep this place running. I really hope we prove them wrong.
Bargaining update
The and the union did not agree to an extension, however they said they counter offers were swapped and further negotiations will happen in February
Favouritism and how does it end??
There has been blatant favouritism going on since past two years within our team.
This manager has been dangling the carrot right in front of me in the name of opportunities, yet has never recognized me for my efforts.
All while pushing this pet on my a$$ to "learn my tasks"
What's that supposed to mean for me?
Post pandemic
We’re definitely far removed from the Covid pandemic, and it’s gone back to how it was pre March 2020. Employees are coming into office sick due to fear of corrective action for attendance or not meeting the 4 day RTO requirement. But we need to build that culture, which is 100% BS by the way.
Engineering Career Over
I'm in tech. Involuntarily moved to a different team with an entirely different stack for the year. Umm I don't know how to code in their language. I'm expected to just start contributing right away. Like... What? So I have busted my a-s for years here, fixed tons of other peoples' mistakes to keep the lights on before anyone in BL can notice. Always good reviews. Sure people don't like my personality sometimes but you know what I always deliver. If I lead a project it completes on time and on budget while others flail around & never deliver. I've not been promoted in years & my career has stagnated - now this. Go code in this totally unfamiliar stack & fail at it & then come back later to my original team? It's fcking insulting af, there's no way I'll last that long, I'm set-up to fail. This place is so demoralizing & dehumanizing I should have bolted long ago but now... The economy is so flooded by laid-off Americans due to Indian replacement & outsourcing to India (& they only hire other Indians, happened to me even internally wheh I foolishly tried to help myself to move-up) I'll likely never be an engineer again or have any kind of financial security. This su-ks. It's worse for the MANAGERS they picked for this who are now listed as line engineers on the project. I can't even imagine their headspace right now. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CODE THIS OTHER TEAM'S PROJECTS WTF. I'm going to try to make it work by focusing-on aspects of their tech I do know, but jesus this is senselessly stressful & I can't help but look at it as anything other than pushing me out by claiming I couldn't contribute enough - because I don't know the fcking stack. Just outrageous shenanigans here. I'm so sc--wed.
