So remote folks shouldn’t expect anything definitive until the dust settles?

I’ve heard so many different versions, and it’s honestly confusing. From what I can tell, there’s still nothing final. Unfortunately, it sounds like the uncertainty for remotes will drag on a bit longer, especially for those who don’t neatly fit into the LA or NYC setups. Do we know if we could still get caught in this round, or are we considered a separate case altogether?

Are Remote L5s a target?

I see a lot of talk about L6’s and up being the target of the layoffs, but I’m wondering if this is a chance to eliminate the remote team members, especially since the RTO mandates which is increasing in person workload for our in-office team members. Remote TMs also have no growth trajectory and most jobs posted are in-office required. Anyone have info?

Any word on remote employees being called back?

There’s been so much rumors about layoffs, but no rumors on return to office for remote employees? Has anyone heard anything about this or will those employees just be part of the larger layoff and we will still keep some employees remote? It seems to be at other companies they did a larger mandate of return to office for remote workers to try to eliminate jobs more organically. It doesn’t seem like that’s a rumor swirling, are remote workers safe from this rif?

Railroad retirement going away

Heard they were only planning to let 10 percent all the way to railroad retirement going forward and use the savings to hire people with 2-3x salary on H1B and other visas hiding behind remote work. The work they showed in the BNSF|tech showcase last week was all done by people who were fired so the so called new tech leaders could call their project their own. Nothin to show in 8 months and start stealing projects and firing people who did the work. If we don't stand up to remote work now, all the work will go to California folks while we Texans build the company.

Remote, BUT report to NY or LA office

Understanding remote workers are part of Phase II (according to DEs email), but anyone know if managers in NY or LA who have direct reports that are remote were given a chance to justify their roles? Even if they were hired as remote OR do we think the decision lies with Senior Leadership and they will be let go this next big round which is rumored to be 10/28?

Rumors of Policy Shift: Contractors WFH, FTEs RTO in Colorado

I've been hearing some buzz about a potential change in policy at one of our Colorado offices. From what I've gathered, contractors are being given the green light to work permanently from home, while full-time employees (FTEs) are being asked to come back to the office.

I'm curious if anyone else has heard about this or has more details. It's got me wondering a few things:

Is this actually happening, and is it just in Colorado or across the whole company?

What does this mean for contractors in the long run? Are they going to be phased out or kept on indefinitely because of this work-from-home flexibility or forced to move out to other offices?

For FTEs, what are the implications, especially for those on visas like H-1B or L-1? How does this affect immigration compliance, and are there risks of layoffs, relocations, or forced conversions to contractor status?

If anyone has any insights or personal experiences, especially those in Colorado or who have been through something similar, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Why....?

Posted this here only because the same silly discussions are happening at Humana....

ATC Cost Center

How in the world is ATC still open? It is nothing but a financial burden in a time when we are trying to cut money from everything. How much money could be saved by shutting this useless money put down.

Nothing of use has come from this place, except for expensive lunches and events. People bi--h about us being remote but don't care that this place is draining money from Nike.

Layoff of he-l has initiated folks

I got the email today at 4:41pm from my VP to work remote and that my building access has been restricted. With the subject line “ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE” bs. Also I’m in EOT division. Never thought they would let an associate II level go instead of a higher role. I’m pretty numb right now. I never experience a layoff before. Anyone else got axed?

SCM 'leadership'

OE - and NE in general - will be better off once the ,leadership' of SCM is replaced with an actual leader. The absentee / remote attempt of management is an experiment that has gone on far too long. Week-long trips to Houston and Gdansk every couple of months (aka company paid vacations) fail to address the needs of the department and the company.

Nor-Easter — NYS of Emergency. Yet no announcement about WFH. Know your rights!

When a state of emergency is declared and you’re a non-essential employee who could have worked remotely, but your employer still required you to travel in dangerous conditions, a court could view that as Negligence or Reckless disregard for safety — especially if:

• 🌪️ Officials explicitly urged people to stay off the roads.
• 🧑‍💻 You asked to work remotely and were denied without a valid reason.
• 🚗 The accident happened while following their instruction to report to work.

Does anyone know how many remotes have actually been offered relocation?

I haven’t. And God knows what that means. Judging from the rumors, relocation offers seem to be just an easy, cost-free way to push people out in most cases. I mean, who would uproot their life for a job when job security is practically an ancient concept? I really hope this gets clarified soon. Honestly, I’d rather face losing the job than deal with this confusion and anxiety dragging on.

State of Emergency in NJ

Remain off the roads-so does that mean we all WFH on Monday?

TRENTON – Acting Governor Tahesha Way today declared that New Jersey will enter a State of Emergency at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 in preparation for a dangerous nor’easter storm expected to hit the state on Sunday, October 12 and continue into Monday, October 13. Parts of the state are forecasted to experience moderate to major coastal flooding, instances of inland flash flooding, sustained winds of up to 60 mph, localized precipitation of up to five inches, and very high surf potentially causing significant beach erosion and dune breaching. Executive Order No. 399 declares a State of Emergency across all 21 counties in New Jersey.

“Starting on Sunday, a dangerous coastal storm will begin to move past our state with extreme weather conditions for several counties, especially those on the Shore,” said Acting Governor Way. “In preparation for this storm, I am issuing a State of Emergency for all 21 counties out of an abundance of caution, authorizing our state’s emergency services personnel to activate as necessary. I urge all New Jerseyans to exercise caution, monitor local weather forecasts and warnings, stay informed on evacuation protocols, and remain off the roads unless absolutely necessary.”

Executive Order No. 399 will remain in effect until it is determined that an emergency no longer exists.

Merit Increase Work Remote

Since I know Fiserv leadership has watchers on this board...let's make this an option next year. Just finished reading an article that researchers found employees would accept a lower wage in exchange for remote work. Fiserv could save some coin on merit increases if they allowed employees to exchange some % for remote work flexibility. What would you exchange for more remote work?

Any new info about the layoffs rumored around the 20th?

I’m remote, and honestly terrified we’ll be among the first on the chopping block. If anyone has credible information, please share. There are so many rumors flying around - mass layoffs, HQ-only cuts, even a possible private equity acquisition. It’s hard to tell what’s real, and even harder not to expect something bigger lurking around the corner that could hit us all hard.

An Open Letter To Execs

An Open Letter to Executives Forcing Return-to-Office

I was hired under the clear promise of being a full-time telecommuter. I delivered as a high performer, year after year, proving remote work was not a compromise but a strength. I built my life — my routines, my family commitments, my finances — around that agreement. And with little warning, you’ve torn it away. Now I’ll sit in an office four days a week, alone, while my team remains remote.

This isn’t “culture.” It’s disregard. It tells me the company’s word means nothing, and that the lives employees built in trust don’t matter when weighed against optics or unused real estate. You’ve broken promises, disrupted families, and drained morale — not because performance demanded it, but because control did.

Ask yourself this: if someone told you tomorrow that your life no longer mattered in the equation — that your commitments, your children, your health, your stability were irrelevant — how would you feel? That is what you’ve told us. That is the message every employee hears in your decision.

The truth is, most of us don’t fully empathize until we are the ones enduring the upheaval. But leadership without empathy is not leadership at all — it’s cruelty dressed up as policy. How do you, as human beings, reconcile dismantling the lives of people who trusted you? How do you justify it when you lay your head on the pillow at night?

You may think workers will comply quietly. But the truth is clear: the best people are leaving — not because they can’t adapt, but because they refuse to be treated as expendable. And when they’re gone, you won’t just have weakened a company — you’ll have to live with the fact that you were the one who broke the trust, dismantled lives, and chose control over humanity. That’s not a business failure. That’s a moral one.

This needs to be addressed!

Im retired SF! I went to play golf with a buddy today with an 11 am Tee time. So get in the cart and glance to my left where I see a TM on his laptop while drinking a bloody Mary complaining how weak the drink is. I told my golf partner. He walked over to him and asked him if he worked for SF. My partner came back to me and confirmed he worked for SF. My partner asked how does he get away with it. I replied: Just like government since covid this is the WFH we have. My buddy shook his head and said: UNBELIEVABLE!

*@$# RTO!

Remote work needs no defending. Common sense has to tell you that if you erase 10 hours out of someone's week, you can't expect them to produce the same amount of work as when they didn't have to spend that time commuting. I don't care how many clothes I wash or dishes I do, I'm not spending anything close to 10 hours per week on that. Poor management is the weakness that gets exposed when employees are working remotely. Instead of setting realistic goals, following up on them, and holding people accountable, they want to judge their performance by what they look like they're doing. It's mo--nic, lazy, and they'll unfortunately have to learn the hard way.

Case for Change

How does XOM reconcile the narrative of "we need to collaborate and work next to each other" with the design to have remote support teams staffed with people who have no industry knowledge or communication skills? I don't question the case for change but its hard for me to see how moving professionals to Edmonton fixes anything when we already can't set up customers or pay vendors.

Better ways to save money than layoffs

Minnesota is no longer the state it was. Watch the documentary “A precarious state MN” on YouTube. Why not move corporate headquarters out of Minnesota to a more tax friendly state? Save on corporate taxes, vs laying off workers . Employee survey is coming up. Not sure that the people living in MN would suggest this, but it seems like a great alternative. Bonus, if they moved headquarters out of MN that would allow those staying in MN to work remotely. Just a thought. I am so sick and tired of seeing good people let go.
