Gartner layoffs beyond Talent & Acquisition at

I can confirm there were layoffs well beyond TA, as I was part of group more than 110 research support staff that were unceremoniously informed that it was their last day at Gartner and given less than 24 hours to download their paystubs and say their goodbye to their colleagues. It was truly a brutal and emotionally devastating experience.

BU Mass Layoffs Going Unreported???

I work in the BU in Dallas and last week we had hundreds of people laid off but I haven’t seen any exact numbers or big news outlets talking about this at all… I feel like this was a very dramatic cut but I’m confused why the media isn’t talking about that and instead they’re talking about the much smaller December layoffs…

Berklee Layoffs Include 70 Employees

Berklee College Of Music has made some big changes to its staff.

Amid shifting policies and rising costs within education, the school said they laid off 70 employees.

Berklee has confirmed to WBZ NewsRadio that the reduction in staff made up 3% of their employee base. No faculty positions were impacted by the layoffs.

Reorg is a futile exercise

Absolutely nothing will change, except many of us will be jobless and replaced by cheaper offshore hires. At this point, I’m starting to think those who got kicked out first might be the luckiest. I can’t imagine enduring more months of this mess, only to land in a gutted team with heavier workloads and an even worse company culture.

Warehousing Transportation Layoffs

Unsure of the validity of the information. A worker of 7 years reached out to notify today was their last day and they would be turning in company equipment. Noted that the L2s in transportation management warehousing is affected. Intent to hire external L1s for less pay, same job.

As I was about to post, a second reached out stating the same.

Offer Rescinded - due to layoffs?

I was due to start with HCSC on the Dearborn side as a Claim Technician on Monday, October 6th. I received this email today:

"As you were previously informed via email on October 3rd, 2025, HCSC has rescinded your offer of employment.

This decision cannot be reviewed or appealed, and we are unable to disclose any further information.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused."

That's it. No other email, no reason why. Are the layoffs happening company-wide or specific only to the Cigna acquisition?

HR Mind Games Getting Old

The constant sprinkling of RTO letters and little groups of layoffs paired with zero information is exhausting.

They should just do it and get it over with. All this game playing just motivates workers to stay out of fear of the job market or out of spite to get all the money they’re owed.

What’s the REAL difference?

What’s the real difference between us giving a company notice and them giving us notice? We choose to work there, and either side decides how long it lasts. When you look at it that way, and realize nothing’s really owed beyond that choice, the frustration and anger kind of lose their grip. Just trying to help!

I know it’s not great to be let go or be told to be in office for X hours, but at the end of the day they are paying you for your time! Not the other way around!

Layoffs

More layoffs to be announced apparently during ER call.
They will use the words that the Street wants to hear. More investments in AI even though excel macros are still the drivers of automation

GT EMEA Layoffs

Regardless of how you think about whether we should have the GT EMEA group or they’re helpful, productive, etc, etc. this isn’t about it.

Yesterday I was taking to a teammate in there, and they told me the GM sent a video where he says they’re targeting to execute the layoffs around early to mid NOVEMBER. That’s almost 8 months after everything started and ~4 months after we had ours.

Can you imagine working that long knowing there’s something coming from across the globe to hit you? How on earth you get motivated to do your job? Your counterparts already moved on, got promoted, fired, lateral moves whatever. And you’re there reading that “EMEA is in a different timeline” sentence in every comms from the company (they told me this line is basically an internal joke over there).

Some people are guessing what’s gonna happen but others already know because they lost their counterparts on other goes, so the writing is in the wall.

I do have a lot of reservations about the EMEA team, but damn, Nike isn’t helping the cause here. Dragging for that long? Unfair is the nicest word I can think of.

Jobs vs AI vs FICO hit

US based Transunion company tookover Indias largest credit bureau CIBIL 92% stake holder. It's making double digit growth in its India division with largest consumer base close to 2x of US consumer volumes.

TU CIBIL division needs more positions to support its systems including recently acquired Neustar division. It will continue to grow as more digitailization emerging into rural areas. More business more revenues. More revenues More jobs to support.

US division revenues major hit due to low mortgage files with high interest rates fed policies. Less money flow into its division more job cuts.

During Covid TU acquired lot of companies, Its consolidation of tools technologies products and roles are unavoidable for few years.
TU bought UK based callcredit and closed majority of UK employees during last 2 wayves as its revenues are very low. Soon FICO is selling their own scores without paying fee to credit bureaus a major revenue hit to US core markets. World is changing no more a closed Island. Same will continue other countries divisions of TU acquired bureaus.

AI will takeover majority of data science jobs especially engineering and data analytics. AI dont care boundaries, countries and regions.

Past is beautiful, Today is fantastic day, future is uncertain.

Their plan

Imperial and the government are running the scam of the century. Lay off 1,000 people → claim it’s a “lack of projects” → pull in more contracts from the government → hand the work off to India.

IOL’s lobbying team nailed it. Smith and the media are saying exactly what Imperial wants to hear. And they're are already in Edmonton, so no relocation needed.

It’ll continue until BTC's incompetence results in a major incident here in Canada. We see everyday that they can't even handle basic tasks.

Risk is the worst spot to be in these days

Asset cap lifted so they want attrition at all costs. Spoke to someone in the know today and they said they will document how many hours you are in the office and if less than 8 then will hurt your performance reviews. Eventually when it’s time to clip people, those with review issues are gonzo. Oh how I miss Stumpf.

Gartner TA layoffs started quiet, escalated to 10%+ of TA and more are likely coming

After quarter over quarter of underwhelming performance for the last couple of years (often spun internally as positive performance or intentional, i.e., "pausing to propel" or "slowing down to speed up"... insert corny cliche here) and stalled hiring demands, Gartner execs made the decision to lower their prized TA capacity. Mind you, this is a function they always yammered on about keeping well above the demand as their competitive edge -- clearly, that's no longer the case.
Like others have posted, the layoffs impacted roughly 10% of the current TA team globally - from talent sourcers and recruiters to some in middle management. I believe more are coming if performance doesn't drastically improve in the quarters ahead.
The round one layoff selection criteria are arbitrary at best from the names of individuals I know who were impacted. I speculate they used the talent "9 box" (google it - lots of employers use this tool) that leaders were asked to complete earlier in the year to identity who got the axe, but that's purely my speculation. In the future, if additional mass layoff rounds need to happen, I believe they will eliminate those outside location strategy (don't worry I'm sure exceptions will be made for Obert and his directs).
Favoritism runs rampant across HR and the TA space. Have you seen the movie "Mean Girls"? Then you know what Gartner HR is like at the top -- Robin's executive leadership team doesn't get along at all. Same goes for Obert's direct reports -- all backstab each other and talk sh-t any chance they get. Hand to God.
What concerns me for the remaining TA team is the company's future outlook. For anyone still there, you know how difficult it is to get anything innovative done -- hoops to jump through, politics, etc. Like others have shared on this platform, there are MANY senior leaders who have been in role for YEARS that need to be able to innovate and quickly pivot. At this point with AI and other resources available for free or at a fraction of the cost of Gartner, it's like turning around the Titanic. They need a quick, effective reinvention and ability to differentiate themselves on the market. It's going to be tough to do -- not impossible, but tough -- and will take time which is not on their side.
For those able to do so, here's an exercise: check out how many across the company are showing as "open to work." It's staggering.
All the best to those in TA impacted as well as current survivors. Godspeed.

Displacements - what's your take?

I will say that the layoffs on 9/30 are "convenient" from the employer cost perspective. Yet, so were the earlier ones throughout the year. It is hard however to stomach losing bonus and 401k match so late in year. Would be better to just get displaced on Jan 1 - where the emp is not giving up anything.

IMHO, it seems that WF is getting rid of the "undesirables" as well as the ones who don't fit the new location mode. Its all over the board. Yet, we, the displaced pay the price.

The only benefit is, we are gone from the toxicity of the environment, we are gone from the daily worry "am I next...!" thoughts. Is there something better? Time will tell. Will I miss my coworkers? YES. That is an unequivocable answer. YES.

The Wells Fargo today is not the one I started working for years ago. It is completely different. Cutthroat. Conniving. Political BS. Pitting co-workers against each other at review time. Yep. Totally different. I think there must be something better out there. Better for the career, better for the soul, better for learning. Just......better.

Thats my .02 for the day.....working through the grief process and separation process and everything that entails.

Its real.
